Hayley and Hope were having a mother/daughter day. School would be starting soon, and with the success of the restaurant, Hayley wanted to buy Hope some nice things. So she took the day off, kissed Jesse, messed up Aiden's hair then went to collect her daughter for some shopping.

She had one rule for today: No Walmart. Target was acceptable, but Hayley wanted to get Hope name brand/lesser designer stuff. At the moment, they were in a shoe store. Hayley was looking at the Autumn line of boots. Hey, she might not be going back to school, but how can you resist boots?!

"Look at these!"

	"Well," she said as she stood up in the pumps. "Have him come see me and we'll get it set up. If he brings in enough faces we can even talk about it being a regular thing." Hope had no doubt that Landon would be thrilled at having a regular gig for his band. Hope mimicked her mom and stood in her Mary Janes, taking a few tentative steps before deciding they were more than fitting and comfortable for school.

"I'll definitely let him know. I know he would love it," Hope replied brightly. "I don't know. My ring is pretty sparkly. I don't need a lot of fancy stuff. You know me, mom."

Hayley groaned good naturedly as she rolled her eyes. "Hope. Sweetheart. It isn't about what you need. It's about Landon showering you with stupid little things in a capitalistic show of affection." Hayley grinned. "It's the Mikaelson way."

She giggled as she took off the pumps to add to the boots. "Speaking of....I gave Jesse a memory ring that has some of my fur in it." Probably the most personal gift Hayley could give.

	Hope smiled at her mom. "Okay, okay. Maybe a little something sparkly would be okay." Nothing extravagant, but something small would be okay. Hope slipped off her shoes and placed them with her chosen boots as well. "Wow, mom. That's a big deal," Hope replied with a small smile. "I'm glad he makes you so happy. You deserve it." Hayley's smile and expression right now made her look younger, more innocent. Reflective of what she had been once a long time ago. Before the loss of her clan and family. Before Klaus. Elijah. But she wouldn't trade any of the bad in her life because it had led to the beautiful girl before her. Right now? With Jesse? It seemed like she got some of that back.

"Yeah," she said. "It kinda is. I love him."

Her mother was technically in her thirties, but Hayley was turned younger than that. Sometimes Hope forgot that her mom wasn't that much older than she was really. Seeing her in that moment, Hope saw a glimpse of what she must have been before running into the Mikaelson's, before suffering so much loss. It was impossible for Hope not to smile back in return.

"I'm so happy for you mom." Hope hugged her mom tightly. "And yeah, that's a huge deal. I know it's not easy for you to give your heart away to someone."

	Hayley returned the hug and was reluctant to let go. Still, she wouldn't embarrass her daughter so she let Hope go. After a bit. "Thanks," she said as she pretended she wasn't sniffly. "I'm just glad you're here with me." (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

	Hope didn't mind that Hayley held on a little longer; sometimes that little longer was enough to assure Hope that this wasn't a dream. She stepped back once Hayley had let go and gave her mother another reassuring smile "Mom, I'm glad you're here with me." She reached out and took her mother's hand, squeezing it tightly. Bursting into happy tears in the middle of a fancy shoe store was not what Hayley had on the agenda so she had to crack a joke before it got too awkward. 	Hope had to blink back the tears in her own eyes. She wasn't exactly keen on breaking out into tears in a fancy shoe store either so she nodded at her mom's suggestion. "Yeah, let's get another pair of shoes each and grab some lunch mom." [ooc: wrap!] (Reply to this) (Parent)
