Alyssa and Jason
Who: Alyssa and Jason
What: Running into each other
Where: The Park
When: Thursday after school
Warnings: should be low.

Alyssa had gotten her AP English presentation back and this time got a B+. She’d take it, along with the A- she got on her AP Bio test. She wanted to celebrate, but she needed to be outside. The plants were calling to Alyssa and she felt terribly homesick for Wonderland. She hoped time was frozen back home, as people had mentioned.

But she sat on a bench, head bent towards the sun, not minding the insects speaking to her. She’d noticed none of them mentioned or could mention Wonderland, which was new to her.

As she was talking to a butterfly about her grades, she heard footsteps. Well, whomever it was would get to see her chatting with the insect population.

She watched him and laughed with pure joy. "Your dad is Jupiter? That makes sense. Can you do it all the time?"

When he spoke, she blushed. "Thank you so much." And, before she could consider what she was doing, she fluttered over to him and kissed his cheek.

Alyssa said, quite simply, "You're beautiful." And then, "I haven't shown anyone else this." Technically? Ned had, but they'd been busy trying to keep Darth from murdering him.

"Yeah, he is. Demigod. Not as cool as it sounds." He'd seen way too many people he cared about die and go through terrible things to enjoy being a demigod. The things he'd gotten out of it didn't really make up for it. "And yeah, I can. Whenever I want. I can also summon lightning, although it really kind of knocks me out when I do."

He blushed bright red when she kissed him and stammered a little. "Um...thanks? And I'm so glad you showed me. Although I don't see why you have any reason to hide it."

She was beautiful. Perhaps the most beautiful girl he'd seen.

"So, your mom is human? I think the flying thing is more interesting. Lightning just sounds...like a pain. So, like exhausted kind of knocks you out?"

"I don't hide it, but usually people don't ask past the talking to plants and bugs. You're the first person who did." His stammering was adorable. But also, he noticed things that others did not.

Alyssa took a breath and rushed out the next words, "Do you want to hang out at some point? Mabyegononadate?" Yes, those words should have space between them, but she'd never asked someone out before and Jason felt..."I want to get to know you better?"

His gaze told her he found her as lovely as she thought he was.

"Yeah, she is. Was. I don't know a lot about her or really have many feelings for her. She gave me away when I was three." His only memories of her were incredibly vague and she had never really felt like a mother. Thalia had always felt like more of a mother. At least his big sister had loved him and cared about him.

"I - I, yeah, I would. And...yeah, a date would be nice."

It had been a long time since anyone had looked at him like that. Had Piper ever looked at him like that? He really didn't think so.

"Do you...like coffee. Or movies?"

That was a stupid question. Hopefully she wouldn't hold it against him.

"I'm sorry. It sounds like your mom's loss." Alyssa wanted nothing more than to get to know the boy next to her.

Alyssa brightened at his suggestion. "I pretty much live on coffee. But I love movies too. I watch them a lot with Ned and his girlfriend."

Nah, Alyssa wouldn't hold the question against him. She'd just blurted out asking him on a date and probably sounded ridiculous.

"Do you want to watch movies at the movie marathon together?" Honestly, she wanted to see him sooner, but that would sound creepy. And, if someone asked, she wanted to both just gaze at how pretty he was and push him against a tree to make out with him. And now she blushed even more.

	He shrugged. He didn't really want to talk about his mom. "Oh, maybe we could..." He paused, he'd hoped they could go on a date a little sooner than the movie marathon. "I mean, sure, yeah, we could do that. It would be fun." He took a deep breath, steeling his resolve. "Or we could go to one before that too? Have coffee afterwards?" 	At the mention of going out sooner, Alyssa's smile brightened. "I'd like to see you sooner too. That sounds good to me." She thought about it. "Do you want to go to the theatre or come over and watch a movie at my house? Scott works nights and Ned is generally in his room or at his girlfriend's." 	Jason had theoretically meant at the theater, but he wasn't against going to her place if she liked that idea better. "Sure, I can come over to your place. And we can order pizza or something?" He was a little nervous because he didn't have all that much experience with girls, but he definitely wasn't against getting a little more. Especially with her. (Reply to this) (Parent) (Thread)

"I love pizza. That sounds great. I'm not against a theatre, but well...this way if we start talking other people won't get mad." Not that she minded, exactly, but she knew how annoyed she became when people talked in movies. But also if Alyssa kissed Jason, she wanted that to be somewhere that didn't involve others.

"I can provide coffee. When do you want to watch movies?"

And then she felt like someone had punched her in the gut, because Morpheus entered her brain. She purposefully avoided any thoughts of him, and kept the smile on her face. That conversation would have to happen, because it was unfair to Jason. But, it didn't have to happen right now.

"I mean, whenever you're free would be great?" He didn't have much to do. He worked part time but he could get someone to cover for him if he needed to. After all, it wasn't every day that Jason Grace had a date.

"I mean, I work a few hours after school sometimes, but I can make any time happen."

This was good. He liked her. She was beautiful. And he supposed this meant that he was slowly moving on from Piper. That conversation would have to happen soon, too.

"I could tomorrow after school? Or Saturday? Sunday evening Scott is home, because it's his turn to cook dinner." Alyssa had somehow found herself doing more household things, but she didn't mind.

"Where do you work?" So she could go stare at him for a few minutes. Not creepy at all.

If someone asked her to describe Jason, he's exactly how she'd imagine a son of Apollo to look. Which, probably wouldn't go over well, from the mythology she learned in school.

And then she asked, "Would you mind if I painted or sketched you at some point?"

	"Sunday works?" He didn't work that night, which made it easier. "I work at London Starr Metals. I don't do the crafting - my best friend does a lot of that - but I work the register." "Oh! You must know Leo then? We fought together in Narnia. He's a nice guy." If he meant someone besides Leo this would be awkward. But she truly enjoyed Leo and wished they hung out more.

"Sunday works. 6?"

His reaction made her giggle. "I'm an artist. I want to get better with people's faces and I like yours. A lot." She should reach out on the network and see if anyone else would volunteer.

	"Yeah, I know Leo. He's my best friend. And also a demigod." Maybe he shouldn't have told her that, but he didn't think Leo would mind. He'd already been pretty public about it. "Six is great." It finally dawned on Alyssa. "Oh! You're that Jason. Yeah, Leo told me he's a demigod and mentioned you're better with a sword than he is. I've never used a sword, but apparently I can hold my own with an axe. At least I can in Narnia." Alyssa didn't add that she lopped off trolls' heads. She also decided to not mention the part where she thought Leo's dad was way cooler than the main gods. And way more useful.

Alyssa went to say something Alyssa like and stopped herself. She had a feeling that once home, she'd sketch Jason from her memory. He'd be in her brain for quite some time.

"Everyone says that and 95% of the time? They're wrong. The other 5% are probably wrong too, but can't be still long enough."

Her butterfly friend landed back on her shoulder and whispered to Alyssa. And she burst out laughing before telling Jason, "Apparently Ms. Opinion over here wants me to tell you that for a human you're attractive." And without comment, moved a piece of Jason's hair from his eye.

She seriously needed to head home and tell Scott her school news and so she stopped staring at Jason.

Jason shivered a little when she touched his hair, telling him very clearly that he wouldn't mind if she touched him a whole lot more. Not right now, though. They had a date planned, and he would hurry home and find a way to make that work so that he wouldn't seem like an idiot.

"Um...thanks, Miss Butterfly?" He wasn't really sure how to address butterflies, but he figured being polite was the best way to go.

"I have to go...but I'm looking forward to our date?"

	Alyssa smiled. "I look forward to Sunday, Jason." She walked away without looking back, because if she did she'd probably just keep staring at him.
