Zine reminder, DW codes, reminders, personal notes
All righty, gang! It's a week from the final deadline for Chocolate and Asphodel 2, which is Monday, July 20. I hope all the fics I've heard of in the works come in, but we seem to be very short on art. The email address to submit is ssrlzine @ yahoo.com (no spaces) - there's more submission guidelines on the main post linked above.
Authors, please try to send us Rich Text. That is pretty much the opposite of HTML - we want everything formatted in Word or some other word processing program with actual italics and boldface in the document. And everyone, please don't forget to include a bio when you submit. Thanks, all!

I had a member ask me if anyone around here would want Dreamwidth invite codes. There is a Lupin_Snape on DW, and I have been cross-posting all mod posts there, and I know several people have been cross-posting their creative works as well.
So, if you've been interested in DW or have invites burning a hole in your account, reply to this message either with codes or requests. I have tons of codes myself, so don't be shy, we'll get everyone who wants a DW account hooked up.

Don't forget we have Retro Fest going on until the end of the month, as well as the theme search, which this month is a catch-up month, or a second chance to add stories that fit the old themes' criteria.

I know fandom is quieting, but I also know from looking at something like the BLU membership pages that there's still quite a few of us around and interested in our ship. If you're enjoying yourself here or other places where Snape/Lupin is offered, please take a moment, try to get over whatever it is that keeps you from commenting, and do so. A string of interesting projects can help inspire creators, but when their work is received to little comment, it's hard for creators to keep going.
I know I say this sort of thing in almost every mod post I make, but the truth is, comments are becoming a rare commodity. I'm finding it difficult to keep asking our creators to jump into one of our projects when the attention isn't there for them after the project is finished with all their hard work. Also, in case you were wondering, I'm finding it equally difficult to keep asking you, the viewers, to comment. I feel like a nag and that I'm possibly beating a dead horse and that ties me up in knots. I'm going to try and make less comment statements, but I wanted to say something about it one more time because....
I'm going to take a fandom sabbatical in August so that I can get to a personal online project or two. I'm a little worried that if I go silent, you'll all think I've given up on the ship and the members here. I've already been more quiet these past few months, trying to pull together two large ship projects, and then to take a month off...But I'm not going anywhere.
Often, these days, I'm reading more and more people making statements in their journals about how they're over HP or over Snupin. They've told all the stories, drawn all the positions, read all the scenarios and they're just done wit it. I can understand that; I've been there before myself, and I wish them well as they move on. But that's not me. Lupin/Snape struck a chord with me that echoes around every other fandom I ever had or am currently exploring. Snupin is the baseline for me. It's home.
That said, I am promising a quieter Fall season, mostly because everyone goes into Snupin_Santa creating hibernation whether I like it or not. ~_^ I would like to mount another calendar project for 2010, but don't worry artists, I know you all need a break. *hugs artists*
If you want to know what I'll be working on in August, I'd like to pull together my fic once and for all, and I'd like to consolidate my journals on DW. But don't sweat the DW thing - I'm all paid up and will be cross-posting to the point where you shouldn't notice any difference in my journal posts, except that there might be more posts again once I'm settled in!
All of this means that I'll be leaving you in McKay's capable hands for August - a good time to do it since snupin_santa sign-ups come toward the end!
I know I also say this all the time, but I just can't help it - you guys make this place such a good, happy place to be online. I treasure you while you're here and miss you when you're gone, because the members who come through here are some of the finest people ever to have touched a keyboard. And I thank you all for that! Oh, and hug you, too. *HUGS*
