Eve shuddered. Her last encounter with an English diplomat had not been pleasant. “Unnecessary. Remind me why he’s here?”

“Mira’s daughter recommended him as an expert consultant, civilian. That full moon homicide Carmichael caught is deader than the fish substitute in my friggie.”

“Hell. Why do I always get the loonies?”

“Your sparkling wit and – “

“Bite me,” said Eve, and strode toward the alleged werewolf.
