Characters: Dorcas Meadowes & Hestia Jones
Setting: Friday, October 1st, 11 P.M., The Kitchens!
Content: SFW
Summary: Dorcas and Hestia bake some biscuits and may I say, SUGAR RUSH.
Status: Incomplete

After changing into one of favorite demin skirts and a white blouse she speedly left the common room grabbing her red cardigan in the process. It was when she reached the stairs that she encountered a problem. Peeves. Of course Peeves had to catch her. Out of all the things that could possibly go wrong whilst breaking curfew, running into Peeves is the biggest. And when he began howling down the corriders Dorcas immediately regretted wearing a skirt. She thankfully, lost him making her way down to the ground floor, though, she was bloody out of breath. Why the hell was the Gryffindor tower on the seventh floor?

She turned the corner and the familiar portrait came into view as well as her friend. She picked up her pace, well, as much as she could. She finally reached her friend and pulled her in for what only could be described as a bear hug. Dorcas was feeling rather wired tonight, excited for Hogsmeade tomorrow and the upcoming month. Dorcas was also very happy to spend time with her Hufflepuff friend. Ever since second year Hestia and herself made frequent trips to the kitchens. It was Hestia's attempt at teaching Dorcas how to cook, though, this usually resulted in her burning whatever they were cooking up. Nevertheless it always proved to be beyond entertaining.

She finally pulled out of the hug and smiled at her friend. "Hey Hes." she said, catching her breath. "Sorry I'm late, took me a while to shake off Peeves." She moved towards the portrait and tickled the pear with her index finger and waited for the door handle to appear. When it did, she opened it and beamed at the few house elves that were still awake.

She smiled half heartedly at her friend as she tried to reassure her. Dorcas was a little surprised when Hestia had informed her of the quality of biscuits she produced when she was younger. It may of sounded daft, but Dorcas just imagined Hestia as one of those prodigy kids, the ones that had a nature talent for something and didn't need to practice. "Really? I always imagined you bustling around the kitchen as soon as you could walk." She replied, smiling as she fiddled with one the utensils in front of her.

Dorcas nodded her head as a sign of agreement with Hestia. Six biscuits sounded perfect to her. She'd send some to Caradoc and maybe even Remus. "I think she'd be great too, I mean she's a little too much like my mother." She laughed lightly. Dorcas considered Emmeline a friend ever since they'd agreed to be study buddies and she knew her quite well. "Arcas would take lovely to her."

While Hestia told Dorcas of her week she nodded along, deciding to help with the batter and baking tray. She dipped her hands into the bowl, making them into little balls with her finger tips. "A jumper? What colour?" Dorcas asked interested before she smiled again at the mention of her friend's Halloween costume for the ball. Peter Pan had to be one of Dorcas' absolute favorites and she was overjoyed that Hestia decided to go as Tinkerbell. "How's that going? Are you finding every component okay?"

She laughed at Hestia's question. She had owled home to her mother, asking for her help and Dorcas' mother was far too amusing. She had told her daughter she could make something, which, would likely be a failure. Dorcas' mother isn't what you would call the typical homemaker. "Oh good, I suppose. Mum said she'll figure everything out for me." She smiled at her friend as they finished up the batter, her face matching Hattie's as she realized Hestia was now eating the dough. "Mum thinks she's going to make it but I'm sure that's code for making a stop in London when she visits her parents. She tried to convince me to ask Doc to go as the phantom." She rolled her eyes kindheartedly. Her parents and Doc's parents never seemed to receive the message that they weren't interested in each other that way.

Hestia burst out laughing at Dorcas' remark. "Hahaha! Oh, heavens, no. I wish!" she exclaimed, shaking her head. "Not only did I have absolutely zero sense of baking time, I was actually hopelessly addicted to sugar and butter as a wee kid, and my grandmother used to tell me that I was going to give everybody a heart attack with my cooking! Thankfully, I've toned down the sugar quite a bit." She grinned cheekily.

"Sounds like a good match then!" she exclaimed. "Arcas is quite lucky to have you as a big sis." When she was younger, Hestia had wanted a younger sibling to take care of. She smiled reassuringly at Dorcas, who had appeared slightly concerned whenever they broached the topic of her brother. She briefly turned around to fiddle with the dials on the oven -- only a few minutes of waiting, and the oven would be all nice and toasty.

"Navy!" she answered, as she whirled around to face Dorcas again. "I've got enough yellow and black jumpers as is, so I figured I'd branch out." She looked over her shoulder to check on the oven. Still heating, she noticed. "The Tinkerbell's costume almost done, thank goodness! I'm trying to look up a few charms that'll make the wings sparkle and flutter throughout the night. Maybe I'll have to do a bit of research to find out." She cast another quick glance at the oven -- perfect. Time to bake! She gingerly put on some oven mitts, plucked the tray of rolled-up cookie batter, and slid it on the centre oven rack.

"Aww, Doc as the Phantom? But that'd be mad adorable!" she exclaimed with a grin stretched across her face, as she shut the oven door. "Your parents would be right proud." There was a hint of jest in her voice. After all, as cute as a couple Dorcas and Doc would have made -- Hestia could not get over the alliteration in their names! -- she knew there wasn't any romantic chemistry between the two. "He'd make a good date for the dance, though I suppose you don't want to encourage the parents," she said, sticking her tongue out at the last comment. "I seriously can't wait to see the costume, though!"
