Characters: Dorcas Meadowes & Hestia Jones
Setting: Friday, October 1st, 11 P.M., The Kitchens!
Content: SFW
Summary: Dorcas and Hestia bake some biscuits and may I say, SUGAR RUSH.
Status: Incomplete

After changing into one of favorite demin skirts and a white blouse she speedly left the common room grabbing her red cardigan in the process. It was when she reached the stairs that she encountered a problem. Peeves. Of course Peeves had to catch her. Out of all the things that could possibly go wrong whilst breaking curfew, running into Peeves is the biggest. And when he began howling down the corriders Dorcas immediately regretted wearing a skirt. She thankfully, lost him making her way down to the ground floor, though, she was bloody out of breath. Why the hell was the Gryffindor tower on the seventh floor?

She turned the corner and the familiar portrait came into view as well as her friend. She picked up her pace, well, as much as she could. She finally reached her friend and pulled her in for what only could be described as a bear hug. Dorcas was feeling rather wired tonight, excited for Hogsmeade tomorrow and the upcoming month. Dorcas was also very happy to spend time with her Hufflepuff friend. Ever since second year Hestia and herself made frequent trips to the kitchens. It was Hestia's attempt at teaching Dorcas how to cook, though, this usually resulted in her burning whatever they were cooking up. Nevertheless it always proved to be beyond entertaining.

She finally pulled out of the hug and smiled at her friend. "Hey Hes." she said, catching her breath. "Sorry I'm late, took me a while to shake off Peeves." She moved towards the portrait and tickled the pear with her index finger and waited for the door handle to appear. When it did, she opened it and beamed at the few house elves that were still awake.

Hestia burst out laughing at Dorcas' remark. "Hahaha! Oh, heavens, no. I wish!" she exclaimed, shaking her head. "Not only did I have absolutely zero sense of baking time, I was actually hopelessly addicted to sugar and butter as a wee kid, and my grandmother used to tell me that I was going to give everybody a heart attack with my cooking! Thankfully, I've toned down the sugar quite a bit." She grinned cheekily.

"Sounds like a good match then!" she exclaimed. "Arcas is quite lucky to have you as a big sis." When she was younger, Hestia had wanted a younger sibling to take care of. She smiled reassuringly at Dorcas, who had appeared slightly concerned whenever they broached the topic of her brother. She briefly turned around to fiddle with the dials on the oven -- only a few minutes of waiting, and the oven would be all nice and toasty.

"Navy!" she answered, as she whirled around to face Dorcas again. "I've got enough yellow and black jumpers as is, so I figured I'd branch out." She looked over her shoulder to check on the oven. Still heating, she noticed. "The Tinkerbell's costume almost done, thank goodness! I'm trying to look up a few charms that'll make the wings sparkle and flutter throughout the night. Maybe I'll have to do a bit of research to find out." She cast another quick glance at the oven -- perfect. Time to bake! She gingerly put on some oven mitts, plucked the tray of rolled-up cookie batter, and slid it on the centre oven rack.

"Aww, Doc as the Phantom? But that'd be mad adorable!" she exclaimed with a grin stretched across her face, as she shut the oven door. "Your parents would be right proud." There was a hint of jest in her voice. After all, as cute as a couple Dorcas and Doc would have made -- Hestia could not get over the alliteration in their names! -- she knew there wasn't any romantic chemistry between the two. "He'd make a good date for the dance, though I suppose you don't want to encourage the parents," she said, sticking her tongue out at the last comment. "I seriously can't wait to see the costume, though!"
