Sirius O. Black ([info]chienderace) wrote in [info]loremrpg,

Entry tags:!incomplete, amelia bones, arthur weasley, dorcas meadowes, fabian prewett, gideon prewett, hestia jones, james potter, kira fenwick, lily evans, remus lupin, septima vector, sirius black

Characters: Gryffindors and/or anyone friendly with the Marauders, even in passing, including friends of friends of friends...the more, the merrier!
Setting: Gryffindor common room, after dinner on Sunday, 31 October
Content: NSFW, likely, for mentions of drunken debauchery by underage witches and wizards. And probably also costumes that are, erm, less than proper.
Summary: It is Sirius Black's birthday, and you know what that means!

One of Sirius' favourite things about his birthday was that it was Halloween. Some people might have resented sharing their birthday with a holiday, but not Sirius. For him, the addition of Halloween just gave him an excuse to make his annual party even larger than it would have been already.

Once he had rolled out of bed midmorning, eaten brunch, and downed some hangover potion, he had spent at least a fair portion of the afternoon getting ready for the party. He went down to Hogsmeade one last time to pick up some treats from Honeydukes', then, along with the other Marauders, kicked everybody out of the common room and started work. They enlarged the room a bit with magic, pushed all the tables and chairs to the perimeter of the room, put up several magical and somewhat frightening decorations, asked the house-elves to send up some refreshments, and prepared their impressive store of alcohol. Sirius also sweet-talked the Fat Lady into letting any and all partygoers into the common room for the evening, regardless of password knowledge, except those who weren't wearing masks (since enchanted masks were his requirement of the year, after all).

Once everything was set, Sirius headed back up to his dormitory to change into his costume, then returned to the common room with his mates and waited for the partygoers to drift in as dinner finished.

[OOC note: As mentioned in a couple of entries, enchanted masks are the rule of the party! The Fat Lady won't let you in if you aren't wearing one! The deal with the masks is they've got a mild confundus charm on them, so the wearer won't be recognized, even if they normally would be. If someone has already told you who they are, or you know what they're wearing, then you will recognize them, but other than that, you don't know who anyone wearing a mask is!

Also, feel free to reply to this in multiple subthreads, just like at the ball. This is a big party, and it's not ALL about Sirius, much as he'd like to think so ;) Feel free to godmod Sirius as welcoming your characters, offering them drinks, etc, and if you want to include him in a thread, you don't need to ask me, just go right on ahead! I'd make location comments, but the common room's not really big enough. Let me know if you have any questions!]

"Strong, I suppose, is subjective. But I think you could catch up with me."

He thought about how he should respond to his Roman Senator's last comment. He was thinking of a lot of things to say, but his shrivel of self control was thankfully strong enough to filter out the bad ones. He decided on,

"I would only like to remember tonight if I had something interesting about it worthy of remembrance."

He knew not by what power he was made bold, but at the closure of the previous statement he added a devlish smirk. He figured that if he got any shit for it he could blame it on his state of mind. He didn't know what he wanted exactly, but he knew this was the correct path towards whatever it was that he wanted.

Gideon raised an eyebrow. He wasn't expecting that sort of reply, though honestly he wasn't sure what he ought to have expected to come out of his mouth at this point. He wasn't sure if he was a loose cannon by nature or if it was just the alcohol. But that smirk was.. well, if he was being honest with himself he'd say it was a bit enticing.

"A bunch of students in costumes and masks who have no idea who's who isn't interesting enough for you?" He asked, grinning a bit. He went ahead and took a second swig, feeling a bit of a burn in his throat as a result. "So then, what would you deem as a worthy memory, sir?" He asked, handing the flask back to him.

"I think that the students involved with costumes just opens multiple doors towards discovering things and other things where usually nothing would happen."

He didn't know if what he had spewed made sense, but as long as it kept him thinking long enough to think of a second answer, it was good enough for him.

"And as for something to remember by, I think it would be a happening or an experience unlike any other that I've had. Do you think you know of any? Rather, any you'd be capable of?"

While he laughed with those around him, he hoped that whomever he was talking to understood his double meaning in his joke. As loosely veiled as it may have been, he thought he had a thick layer of secrecy between his comments and his feelings. He was never usually this forward, he didn't know what would follow or what would be thought.

"Yeah." Gideon did understand what he was saying. He made a good point. "No real consequences when you're hiding behind anonymity," he said, and tapped his own mask with his index finger. "Leaves you feeling kind of liberated. ...Maybe even a little brave."

He thought he could see where this masked fellow was leading the conversation, and almost felt like he was being propositioned. Gideon had never really let this side of himself come to the surface before, because he wasn't sure he really understood it or if it was really real. How did this bloke know? Coincidence? Or was he wearing a sign on his toga? Maybe it was the toga. ...Now he really, really needed a drink.

"Possibly. But it's hard to say without knowing just how brave you are."

Tiberius' silly drunken charm was slowly changing. If it was even possible, his demeanor sobered up while he listened and thought. He had always harmlessly acted this way, but it almost seemed like he was being pushed back against this time. For the first time, Tiberius felt as if something could actually come of this. He was equal parts scared and thrilled and excited all at once.

In the back of his mind, he thought about the troubles that had just sorted themselves out with Mia, his anticipated troubles with Ed and Trish, and the turmoil that might arise from whatever was about to happen. But in his state, his priorities were re-adjusting themselves to fit the event. If he could help it, he wanted to stop thinking about it all together. He would shut down his mind and function based off feelings rather than thoughts and judgments tonight if he could. He wasn't sure if this opportunity would ever happen again, so in the end he just went for it.

"Brave? Is that even a question?! I would have marched up to Harpo the Louse tonight if you had really been him! It is safe to say I am exceedingly brave. It is you that who needs to prove his bravery. And you can start by taking another drink."

Gideon didn't know what sort of repercussions would result from any actions he took, because he did not know who it was that was behind the mask. That was part of the allure, and part of what scared him. He wasn't a coward by any means, but he also wasn't quite as brave as Fabian. In his brother's presence, he would almost always default to Fabian. In this case, he was very much alone.

He also wasn't one to jump the gun. Though he didn't always think before he would leap, he also had enough common sense not to leap off a bridge. But this... This was entirely uncharted territory for Gideon, even though it was something he'd been thinking more and more about over the last several months.

Gideon set his jaw, and reached out to take the flask back. He took a longer swig this time, feeling his throat burn as the contents swished down. This was crazy. Crazy. He never did things like this. Never. Considering his stomach was empty, it was even less of a good idea. The alcohol was going to go right to his head.

"Good start?" He asked, after swallowing and fighting back a grimace. "What else should I do to prove my bravery?"

"Hmm....lemme think..."

Tiberius took this time to think of other tasks he should assign to this enticing stranger. He didn't want to start playing a game resembling a scavenger hunt of tasks. He knew that he would soon get bored with that, and surely so would the man in front of him. He had other things on his mind. However, he was cognizant enough to realize that maybe the man before him wasn't buying into his advances, just his drunkenness. He was used to doing these sorts of things with his other guy friends. He didn't let that get to him though. He had made up his mind, and he was going to go to whatever lengths to try and make his wish a reality.

"Well, surely by now you have enough brave spirits within you from the firewhiskey to do anything really. But it will have to be something big."

That was just filler. Tiberius still had no idea what to ask him to do yet.

"Hmmmm.....Why don't you......wait...never mind. Why don't you stand on the fireplace and sing something?"

He didn't think about what he said before he said it. He realized almost immediately that that was a bad idea.

"Wait, that was stupid. Let me give you another one...."

He was panicking. He probably looked like a drunken fool and whatever allure he once held had left the common room. Instead of letting the moment slip by, he decided to abandon the bravery tricks and ask him a question that he was very interested in, one that required bravery to answer.

"Instead of wasting time asking you to do something stupid, why don't you muster up the courage to tell me your name?"

As he stood there waiting for his masked companion to decide on a task to prove his bravery, Gideon was beginning to feel more and more fuzzy in the head. He wasn't drunk by any means. Not off a few sips of firewhiskey. But he was a tiny bit tipsy. Just enough to give him a bit more of an edge than usual.

He laughed when the other young man suggested he hop up on the fireplace and sing. Gideon would've done that sober just because he could. If that was all it took to prove he was brave, he was probably one of the bravest in the school.

When the next request came, his eyebrows rose significantly. Well, that would be completely stupid of him. Brave, maybe. But stupid. "That makes it less fun though, doesn't it?" He grinned a bit. "You're gonna have to convince me why I ought to tell you my name. What's in it for me?"

His strategy hadn't worked. He wasn't surprised though, he knew his game was significantly off. That didn't keep him from trying still.

He took another swig and offered it to his new friend.

"I think the both of us know I've had far too much. You finish the rest of it."

He had no intention of accepting it back.

"Fine. I don't need to know your name. I suppose that adds a bit of mystery to what we are doing."

Now for the punch,

"What is it that we are doing, exactly?" He articulated this with an expectant gaze. He may have shuffled forward a bit, Tiberius couldn't be sure. He was tired of making all the moves here. The answer to his question would determine if he would continue his pursuit or move on. He knew that the alcohol was not allowing him to hide his nerves as best he could.

Gideon was going to need to finish the rest of that liquid courage in order to keep up with his masked friend. This was so unlike him -- but if there was ever a time to explore this side of himself that he'd been thinking about so much lately, it was now when no one would know who he was. It was assurance, to be certain, to be able to hide behind an anonymity charm. Part of him wished he was braver, so he could say his name was Gideon Prewett, but he wasn't. Not yet, anyway.

He downed the rest of the flask, which left him feeling really warm all over and even fuzzier in the head. Gideon studied the eyes behind the other young man's mask, as he thought about what it was they were doing. "We're dancing," he said, grinning. "Dancing around what neither of us will say but both of us seem to want. Unless I'm.. horribly wrong, in which case I'm glad you don't know my name."

He was pleasantly surprised at the young man's comment. He was so glad and relieved that he didn't have to take the plunge for himself, but now that he was submerged, he was worried he wouldn't know how to swim.

"Even if you were wrong, I would still want to know your name by the end of it. But I agree. Now that we are talking about it, we could actually dance."

He bowed his head slightly and held out his hand, jokingly reminding the man before him of his costume's stature. When he brought his head back up,

"Wait... Is this what happens in these situations?"

Gideon felt his cheeks go a bit pink at the prospect of dancing. Or maybe it was just another effect of the fire whiskey. He'd go with the latter, because dancing wasn't a big deal, was it? He danced with his mates all the time. Besides, even if it was a big deal, he still had the safety of his mask to hide behind. No one else was going to know. He wasn't ashamed -- not really. He just wasn't sure what this was and until he knew for certain he didn't want to broadcast it all over the castle.

"I don't know," he said, laughing a bit and scratching the back of his head. "I've don't.. I mean, I've never been in this situation. I--" He dropped his hand from behind his head, and reached out to take the hand offered to him. "Let's just dance, all right?"

There was no way that Tiberius could hide his smile. He took the Roman's hand and led him back into the crowd of people, closer to the music. Once there, not only did he realize that the setting did not really accommodate for much of a dance floor, but that hardly anyone was dancing as a result. Tiberius was not disheartened. He never considered himself a good dancer, so to compensate for it he would sometimes make an effort to look extra funny while dancing. He hoped it would help break the ice, but the firewhiskey was melting it fast enough on it's own.

After a bunch of songs (really only about two, but Tiberius could have sworn it was closer to an hour), Tiberius wondered if this would be the end of the night -- hands barely touching once and no name to remember it by. He stopped his goofy dancing and looked at the Roman. He had been gutsy enough to engage in this conversation in the first place. Why couldn't he do any more? He was plagued by indecision. Finally, his desire won out.
"Do you wanna maybe talk without so many people around?"

He led the way over to a corner by a window and waited for the Roman to follow.

Gideon didn't have a problem dancing like a fool. That was something he did often anyway. He was glad to see that his masked friend was able to do so too without feeling self-conscious. Though, what this all meant, he still couldn't be sure.

When the other young man asked him if he wanted to move out of the thick of the crowd so they could talk more privately, Gideon nodded. At the same time, his heart sped up rapidly. Did he really want to talk? Or do a little more of the verbal dancing they'd done before? It was a little intimidating, but that wasn't enough to stop him from following him over to the corner.

He sat down in the window seat. "Be seated, my subject," he teased, to try to make himself feel a little more relaxed.

Once he had been joined, Tiberius knew that he only had so much time before his reflexes kicked in and made him start to worry again. He had to make his move. He slid closer to the other boy, hoping that a close proximity would heighten the intimacy and also his honesty.

"So, I don't know if you could tell from before, but I think I might fancy you. I'm not sure how that is possible but it is, even though I have no idea who you are. Merlin, please don't be a Slytherin. But I thought I should tell you before the night gets over and the opportunity is gone."

Of course he noticed how close he sat by him, and his breath immediately hitched. Gideon had gotten a good sense of his scent when they were on the dance floor, but sitting there now, he could breathe it in with each intake of air. He liked it.

His heart was racing. Any doubt he felt about the situation, that he'd misinterpreted the other's advances, flew out the window they were sitting next to. It was confirmed in those words, but Gideon was skeptical. "I'm not a Slytherin," he said, but he still wasn't sure he was ready to give up his identity yet. He knew he ought to take this bloke's words with a grain of salt. Did he really fancy him? He was drunk, and didn't even know Gideon's name. But.. there was something there. A spark he'd felt almost instantly.

"I'm glad you told me," he said. "Means I wasn't just building this up in my head. Whatever 'this' is." He met the other's eyes behind the mask, and in such close quarters he could feel his breath against his face.

Emboldened by the success of his last confession, he decided to push the boundaries even further to see what else he could achieve.

He did not know why these feelings erupted from him, nor why they were so strong but even in the state he was in he knew that to fight them would leave him rapt with regret. He knew that a chance like this to explore would not come again lightly.

"Well, does that mean you fancy me too? Because if we both fancy each other, that makes each of us fancy people, and it is my belief that fancy people are allowed to...er...break the rules sometimes."

His pulse beat like he was flying -- a feeling he did not want to let go anytime soon. After the doldrums had set in for a brief second, to elicit a response he tagged on the end,

"What do you say?"

Gideon wasn't sure how to answer that question. Did he fancy him? Maybe. He didn't know who he was, or how well they did or did not know each other. All he had to go by was his instincts and what was transpiring between them in that very moment. He also supposed it depended on how they were defining what it meant to 'fancy' someone.

Given that they did not know each other's identities, Gideon could only assume he was asking if he fancied him based on what he knew alone. Fancying based on initial attraction, initial impressions. It wasn't exactly deep, but there was still potential for it to be meaningful. If nothing else, he would learn if this unexplored side of himself was real or if he was just a confused teenage boy.

"I... I reckon I do," he said. "At least, from what I know." He took another steadying breath, but it did nothing to slow down his rapid heart beat. "What rules were you intending to break?"

"I would only break those that forbade me"
He leaned in closer,
"from being able to kiss you. But we might want to go somewhere else. Wouldn't want to show up on the front page of the Prophet in the morning."

He smiled, but this time not in a way that was over the top and mischievous, but caring. He may not have known whom the other was, but he was not playing around. He needed this, and it meant a lot to Tiberius that the Roman would help him get it. He knew he was being extremely forward, an amount that much exceeded propriety. But he so desperately wanted something to happen before it was too late.

Gideon's heart was racing so fast, he was convinced it skipped a beat when the other boy mentioned kissing him and breaking any rules in place that might prevent it from happening. He was momentarily speechless, unsure how to respond to that. But why? If a bird had come up to him and said such a thing, would he be hesitating so much? Probably, because that was just the way Gideon was.

He couldn't take him up to his bedroom. Clearly the other boy wanted to remain hidden from others and there was too great a risk of them being seen by one of his roommates (or for Merlin's sake, Fabian) coming back from the party. "There's an alcove, just outside the common room and down the stairs. Come with me." His heart still beating as fast as a hummingbird's wings, Gideon stood up and walked toward the portrait hole to leave the party behind.

Tiberius was very excited and very nervous. He followed the boy out of the common room. He was worried about people noticing them leave. He didn't even know where he was being taken. He assumed that the boy was not a Gryffindor -- that would explain the need for bravery. A flash of fear passed through his mind:what if this mystery man was a Hufflepuff as well -- what is it was Ed?! Then he remembered that he did in fact know where he was being taken, and then his fears departed him.

Once the Fat Lady had shut herself behind them, Tiberius looked to the boy with expectant eyes. Not demanding, but he was clearly forfeiting all authority and non-verbally let the boy know that he was in charge. Once they started walking down the stairs, Tiberius said,

"This is sort of exciting, huh?"

He grabbed the boy's hand as he was led towards his goal.

It was hard to believe that he was actually going through with this. The two had been skirting around actually doing anything, but now that the alcove was getting closer and closer it was becoming all the more real. When the other boy took his hand, Gideon hoped he wouldn't be able to tell how nervous he was.

"You could say that," he whispered in reply.

Exciting, yes. Intimidating, sure as hell. But a chance like this wasn't going to come up again soon, he knew, because it certainly hadn't presented itself to him up until then. He had to do this, and if he was being honest, he wanted to. It was alluring in its mystery, and exciting in its newness. It also just sort of.. felt right -- save for the drunk part.

Once they reached the secluded little corner, Gideon pulled on his Gryffindor bravery heartstrings and in turn pulled the other boy closer by the hand. His other hand, despite its timidness, found its way up to the other' shoulder, then came to rest at the back of his neck.

The time had come. It was now or never. Enough time had been wasted. He had wanted this for longer than he could remember, which may or may not mean much since he hardly remembered how he had even gotten to this point. All he had focused on was making this moment perfect. He was so close to this unknown boy. He could hear and feel his breath, he could smell the light dustings of cologne that the boy had put on to prepare for the night. When he felt the hand at the back of his neck, he needn't be asked twice. He closed the gap between them and placed a light kiss on the boy in front of him. In it he poured his frustrations and his happiness both, odd for the fact it was his first time, let alone with this boy. After he came up from it, he became insatiable. The kiss made his head whirl and feel free and new and so many more great things. He went back in, this time more aggressive to accommodate his passions.

It was then that he had remembered again the drama with Mia. He hadn't even kissed her yet! When he came up next, he hesitated a little, but decided this was more important to him. This was so easy. He hadn't had to fight with older brothers, he hadn't had to lose his friend. All he had to do was be here with this boy, and for the time being that is all he wanted and would do.

It really was now or never. Gideon had never been through so much build up for something in his life. Not even Quidditch tryouts or getting on the Hogwarts Express for the first time. There was no turning back now. He could feel the heat of the other boy's body, as he brushed his fingertips along the back of his neck and lightly through his hair.

When their lips met, he felt a rush of warmth spread through his body. Gideon had snogged before, and it wasn't that much different than snogging a girl, he realized. But it did feel bloody good. He returned the kiss, timid at first but with a rush of confidence the second time their lips met. His hand slid up in the back of the other boy's hair as he continued to kiss him.

He felt like a fool for questioning the legitimacy of this side of himself. It was undoubtedly real.

His instinctual drive was taking over, he knew this is what he wanted. As they were together, Tiberius could only feel his desire growing. Mia and Ed and Trish and Ro and Eddie had all left his mind. The only person who was worth anything to him at this very moment was the beautiful boy in front of him who smelled like perfection and from what he got, tasted like heaven. The warmth and the roughness of the boy was like nothing he had ever felt, as if he had just discovered Atlantis and that he knew he had to stay.

If Tiberius could have his way, he would prolong this magic moment for life. Everything was good, everything was easy, and most of all, he was happy. He never wanted to leave the alcove.

As his hands wandered the boy's body, he realized he was heading down a slippery slope. He hadn't ever been with anyone before, let alone a boy, and he was worried he would look like a fool. Swallowing his pride, he pulled out from this kiss and said,

"You are.....probably the best I've ever had. Not to say I've had loads before, you're actually my first...well, boy.....and I don't know what to do from here....that is, if you want to continue, or go further, or whatnot..."

He blushed, he was sobering by this point and had begun to notice how embarrassing he was acting.
