Characters: Gryffindors and/or anyone friendly with the Marauders, even in passing, including friends of friends of friends...the more, the merrier!
Setting: Gryffindor common room, after dinner on Sunday, 31 October
Content: NSFW, likely, for mentions of drunken debauchery by underage witches and wizards. And probably also costumes that are, erm, less than proper.
Summary: It is Sirius Black's birthday, and you know what that means!

One of Sirius' favourite things about his birthday was that it was Halloween. Some people might have resented sharing their birthday with a holiday, but not Sirius. For him, the addition of Halloween just gave him an excuse to make his annual party even larger than it would have been already.

Once he had rolled out of bed midmorning, eaten brunch, and downed some hangover potion, he had spent at least a fair portion of the afternoon getting ready for the party. He went down to Hogsmeade one last time to pick up some treats from Honeydukes', then, along with the other Marauders, kicked everybody out of the common room and started work. They enlarged the room a bit with magic, pushed all the tables and chairs to the perimeter of the room, put up several magical and somewhat frightening decorations, asked the house-elves to send up some refreshments, and prepared their impressive store of alcohol. Sirius also sweet-talked the Fat Lady into letting any and all partygoers into the common room for the evening, regardless of password knowledge, except those who weren't wearing masks (since enchanted masks were his requirement of the year, after all).

Once everything was set, Sirius headed back up to his dormitory to change into his costume, then returned to the common room with his mates and waited for the partygoers to drift in as dinner finished.

[OOC note: As mentioned in a couple of entries, enchanted masks are the rule of the party! The Fat Lady won't let you in if you aren't wearing one! The deal with the masks is they've got a mild confundus charm on them, so the wearer won't be recognized, even if they normally would be. If someone has already told you who they are, or you know what they're wearing, then you will recognize them, but other than that, you don't know who anyone wearing a mask is!

Also, feel free to reply to this in multiple subthreads, just like at the ball. This is a big party, and it's not ALL about Sirius, much as he'd like to think so ;) Feel free to godmod Sirius as welcoming your characters, offering them drinks, etc, and if you want to include him in a thread, you don't need to ask me, just go right on ahead! I'd make location comments, but the common room's not really big enough. Let me know if you have any questions!]

Lily had been feeling just a bit of trepidation for Sirius' party all day. She had planned this costume for weeks, ever since she and James had started dating, but when she actually put it on that evening after skipping dinner to prepare properly, she couldn't help but frown at herself in the mirror. That skirt really was awfully short, wasn't it? And fishnets? Weren't they a bit too much?

Still, she forced herself to stop overanalysing as she sat down to put on her makeup. No one was going to know who she was, anyway, as long as she kept her playing-card mask on (except for the people she'd told, namely her little group of girlfriends and James, who knew only to expect "a gold top hat"). Besides, how often did Lily Evans push the boundaries? She had spent the ball being rather tame, wearing a costume that was less revealing than her normal clothes and only having a little bit of the punch. Surely she had the right to put aside her propriety for one night.

Lily took a deep breath and summoned her Gryffindor courage as she left her dorm and headed down the staircase to the common room. There were already several people there, dancing, drinking and starting to have a good time. She headed over towards one of the tables of refreshments and helped herself to a small glass of firewhiskey, which she sipped at while looking around for James, who she knew would be dressed as a muggle gangster.

James helped his mates prepare for the big party well in advance, and fortunately he'd managed to get his gangster costume and plain white mask prior to having his little accident with the Whomping Willow. He'd warned Lily what he would be going as in advance considering the masks had to be charmed with confudus. Initially the reason behind the charm was to give James a chance with Lily, as the birthday boy joked with the Marauders a little over a month ago. Luckily such tricks were no longer necessary, as his girlfriend had willfully displayed the evening before at the Halloween ball.

Needless to say, it took a bit of extra effort on James' part to focus this evening. He was ready for a night of normalcy with his mates and his girl, particularly considering he had no idea what to expect of the evening. Lily had only told him of that gold top hat, and frankly he could only imagine what would accompany it.

After James had prepared the table for Sirius' gifts, something he insisted they put out just in case, he stacked the table full of his own presents for his best mate. Of course he had to wrap two presents for Padfoot, a box full of chew toys, bones, and dog shampoo and a stuffed snake. The gift for Sirius was really a collective present containing some of the finest Samuel Smith's beer, an assortment of rum, and an enchanted musical beer stein that played Queen's "You're My Best Friend". After all was said and done, he followed Sirius up to the dorm to get into his costume and prepare his muggle gun. Just the night before he'd charmed his mask to take the place of his glasses with lenses over the eye holes that were invisible to the naked eye. Only the wearer of the mask would notice any different. He also loaded the gun full of fireworks from Gambol & Japes' Joke Shop so that whenever he pulled the trigger it would send off multiple colored sparks similar to that of a couple muggle sparklers lighted simultaneously.

Once the mask was in place, James followed Sirius back down to begin greeting the guests as they arrived. As was the case the night before, many had a lot to ask about James' accident. He kept it vague, mostly because he couldn't answer honestly without betraying his friends' secrets. Fortunately James Potter was the master at redirecting conversation, and soon enough he had the students off on a wild goose chase as they discussed which costumes were the most entertaining at the Halloween ball. As James gave a casual glance beyond his group, he glimpsed the golden top hat. Handing off his cup of lager to one of the Gryffindor sixth year boys, he made his way for the refreshment table.

Suffice to say James would have recognized that body even had Lily not told him what she was wearing, but he was completely shocked and impressed when he viewed her from the back. It was a very bold costume indeed, and it only meant he'd have to work that much harder to keep her away from the other lads, particularly ones with intentions as skewed as the birthday boy's. James ran his hand over her back, stepping up behind Lily to place a kiss against her hair. "Let me guess. You're going as a temptress," he whispered into her right ear, wrapping both his hands around her stomach from behind. With that he gave Lily another kiss, this time on her jawline. "You look- There are no words."

Lily had hoped she wouldn't be standing by herself in a costume like this for long, or else she knew that she would need more than one glass of firewhiskey to keep up her nerve. Fortunately, James didn't keep her waiting long. Not more than a minute or two after she reached the common room, she felt his hand on her back, in a way that was not dissimilar from how he had greeted her the night before, at the ball.

His words and the way he touched her gave Lily more confidence than the firewhiskey. She set her glass down on the table as James wrapped his arms around her, and smiled just a bit wickedly as he kissed her jawline. She shook her head, and twisted her neck around just enough to kiss him. Lily pulled away after a moment, her expression still wicked, and shook her head. "They call you Lady Luck," Lily sang quietly.

Her parents had taken her and Tuney to London when they were rather young, and one of the things they had done was see a show on the West End. Perhaps Guys and Dolls wasn't entirely appropriate for a young audience, but the Evanses hadn't realised that until they were already in the theatre, and by then it was too late. Lily was glad of it now, because it had some excellent inspiration for her costume. Of course, she had to continue the song. She couldn't let James have things too easy, after all.

"But there is room for doubt," she continued, resting her hands on top of James'. "At times you have a very unladylike way of running out," Lily finished. On the last two words, she gently pulled James' hands off of her and turned to face him as she stepped away, but only as far as the table where she had set her firewhiskey. Promptly she picked it up with both hands and smirked at him over the rim of the glass, as if to suggest that it was his move.

He leaned into the kiss only to find she broke it just as abruptly, which in turn caused James to smirk at her. Though he had been drinking off and on since the Marauders had worked on preparing the common room, he could tell his lady friend was a bit more far gone than he was. Then and there James decided it was for the best he drink sparingly the remainder of the night to ensure he could properly look after Lily. It wasn't so much that he didn't trust himself as it was that he didn't trust others. He knew better than anything they had more than enough drinks in this room to sufficiently have everyone attending the party in a completely trashed state of mind, so James wanted to have his wits about him in case any pissed twat came prancing along trying to place moves on his girl.

Even though Lily was singing rather quietly, James could tell she had a amazing voice. It was common knowledge the Welsh considered themselves a 'land of song and poetry', but at this point their case had been justified in his eyes. While it was true James could see no wrong in his girlfriend, Lily truly did sound rather amazing even when singing softly. "Lady Luck," he beamed. Squeezing her against him, James placed another kiss on her skin, this time in the groove between her neck and shoulder.

As Lily continued to sing, James continued to trail his lips along her skin. It wasn't until she said the 'running out' bit that his lips twisted into a smile, the boy straightening up to comment on the song's remark. He thought Lily was referring to the time she ran out on him after realizing James was her Amortentia. Little did he realize she was using a bit of foreshadowing as well. His mouth hung agape as she pulled away from him. As Lily turned to walk toward her drink, James' eyes trailed down her body, only shifting back to her own eyes when she turned to look over her shoulder at him. It was then he realized he was staring like a fool, and forcing his mouth shut, James took a few strides after her.

James swiped a glass of firewhiskey from a student who had begun to walk away from the refreshment table, stepping closer to Lily and holding it out to her. "To sexy redheads who aim to torture a good man," he playfully toasted, clinging the glass against hers before taking a sip. Then handing the drink back to the rather confused student, James reached around Lily's waist again. "So, Lady Luck..." he glanced over her shoulder to see Peter playing with his gun, only causing James' smile to widen a little more before shifting his gaze back to Lily. "What do you see coming from my hand tonight? Do I come up short? Break even?..." The boy could hardly help his suggestive comments, but that was just further proof James Potter had officially returned to his former glory. Lily likely knew all the cards rested with her. That being said, her costume was even more suitable for the pair. Wasting little more precious time gawking at her, James leaned over to her neck again to place more kisses on her skin, this time reaching his hand up to pull down her bow tie and focus his kisses in one set area. He unintentionally began to cause a hickey to form, but once he realized it, James smirked against her skin before blowing it dry and covering it with Lily's tie again.

Lily knew she was something of a lightweight. It came with having very little body mass to absorb the alcohol's effects, after all. The alcohol combined with the confidence James' response was encouraging in her was a very heady combination indeed, and tonight, perhaps her "better judgment" wasn't so good after all. Still, Lily trusted James to look after her on her one night of indulgence, after she had spent the last week or so looking after him.

James' expression when she took a couple of steps away was one that Lily wasn't going to forget any time soon. It wasn't every day that someone could cause one of Hogwarts' golden boys to stare like that, after all. She was glad that it was fairly fleeting, though, because as much as she liked teasing him, she preferred having him close to her. Lily accepted his toast with a wink, and downed the rest of her glass without so much as flinching. She set her glass down again, though it was empty this time, and when James pulled her in, she gently rested her hands against his chest.

Of course, in her current mood, Lily couldn't help but finish James' train of thought. "Or is it your lucky night?" Lily let that thought hang in the air for a couple of seconds before continuing, "I just don't know. I suppose we'll have to let the chips fall where they may." As she spoke, James kissed her neck, and one of her hands slipped around his neck and into the hair at the base of his head. Once he put Lily's tie back, she couldn't help but roll her eyes just a bit, sure that he had left a hickey in his wake. Typical James.

She couldn't bring herself to be irritated by it, though; instead she used the hand in his hair to gently guide him to straightening again, so she could kiss him properly this time. Lily's other hand slipped around his neck too, pulling him closer, as they kissed, Lily slowly slipped one of her legs between James'. She was very glad for both the masks, which ensured that other students didn't know who they were, and also for the fact that they were in a fairly secluded part of the common room. That combination was letting her snog her boyfriend as she had wanted to for quite some time now.

Arthur was thrilled about this party. He had plausible deniability as a prefect. He had no way of knowing who was at the party, and therefore no way to punish anyone. This was one of the few events he was willing to let slide, so long as it didn't get too out of hand. And if it did? Well he'd just leave. Arthur had planned his costume carefully - a pharoh with an anubis mask. It was comfortable, and it covered him enough to be unrecognizable.

He arrived only after he was sure other people were already there. He headed for the common room and made a beeline for the drink table, grabbing some pumpkin juice. He didn't want to drink any alcohol in case things went wrong. Besides, Arthur didn't need it to have a good time.

Mary was not one to drink heavily. At least, not usually. She had her fair share at the ball, not realizing just how much she had drank until she found herself sick. So she was sticking to the pumpkin juice like her friend Anubis.

She adjusted the aviator's goggles of her Amelia Earhart costume - they were a little cumbersome, but were functioning as her required mask - and held her cup up in a salute to Arthur. "You know, that costume's no way to be the life of the party!" she joked at his costume choice. Even without drinking, she was taking on a bit of the general atmosphere of the night.

Arthur was sipping on some pumpkin juice when a masked Amelia Earhart approached. He smiled, though clearly she wouldn't be able to see it. "Well I thought I would just party until I die," he joked, returning the pun. "Let's just hope when you crash tonight people are actually able to find you." Yeah, he knew who she was. It was one of those great muggle mysteries they talked about so much.

A smirk spread across Mary's face. Whoever was behind this Anubis mask knew who Earhart was. That was actually quite unexpected.

"Touché, Sir. But I'm afraid that I shall disappear again by tomorrow morning. This party sort of makes me think of a bad fairytale that way." Mary took a drink of her pumpking juice.

"Do you ever wonder what house Muggles might have been sorted into if, well, they could? Like myself. Abundance of courage, open to new ideas, maybe a little reckless at times," Mary laughed a little while talking, "Perfect fit for Gryffindor."

Hestia had had a rather good time at the actual school dance, but it was always fun to cap things off with a crazier event. And what better than Sirius' party? When she had been making her Tinkerbell costume for the school dance, she decided it'd be neat to extend the Peter Pan theme into her second costume: Tiger Lilly. For the mask, she had sewn feathers to emulate the crown of the original princess. Since returning to her dorm, she had slipped on a brown suede dress with beaded embroidery that stopped at a rather unusually short hemline and brown suede moccasins with fringe on the edge. To finish off the look, she braided her hair into two thick plaits. She brought with her a basket of flowers not only to complement her costume but also to pass around to passerbys at the party.

She had no idea if anybody would actually recognize her, but figured that her diminutive height might be a dead giveaway. Throwing all caution to the wind, she was graciously let in by a funny painting of a fleshy woman. She quickly poured herself a glass of pumpkin juice and started traipsing around the common room, flower basket in hand, in hopes of finding anybody who looked familiar. As she walked around, she cheekily placed flowers behind people's ears, in their hands, on top of their head, etc.

Dorcas was thrilled with how the ball had turned out, her secret date hadn't turned out to be Dedalus Diggle, and that was something Dorcas considered a success. It proved to be a distraction with everything that had occurred Friday night, and Dorcas told herself that tonight would be the same; she could worry all she wanted during the upcoming week but tonight, she was determined to have fun. At first, Dorcas was a little hesitant on deciding on her costume for Sirius' party. Lily had decided to go in something a little more risque and that just wasn't Dorcas' style. Dorcas opted for something she could feel comfortable in, and she knew if she wore anything like that she'd spend the night hidden away in the corner. Dorcas had decided on going as an angel, which, some would suggest was perfect for Dorcas. She'd tracked down a lovely dress, which she had inevitably fallen for, and luckily the establishment her mother had got it from made it in white. She'd charmed a pair of wings so they would flutter every so often and finished everything off with a beautiful white and silver mask and a pair of silver heels. Dorcas decided against wearing an actual halo, instead she braided two pieces of hair back which proved to look quite elegant with the loose waves of her hair.

By the time she had made her way down the stairs she found the room quite crowded with party goers. She searched the room for Sirius, just to wish him a happy birthday, after scanning the room a few times over she gave up, suddenly dreading the whole mask idea. She spotted a Tiger Lily by the drink table and a smile tugged at her lips. She was either about to attack her friend Hestia with a bear hug or have an extremely awkward encounter. She reached the girl, not saying a word, before she pulled her in for a hug. She quickly pulled apart realising that she might not even recognize her, after all Dorcas had told next to nobody of her costume. "Hes?" she questioned, hoping her instincts had been right. She paused before continuing. "It's Cas." She said, feeling rather silly. She scanned the room, her eyes occasionally squinting almost as if it helped her recognize anybody. She was hoping that she'd spot Remus shortly.

Remus had crashed completely after the Ball the previous night. He was floating on a cloud; the night had been a dream come true, brilliant and absolutely perfect. He had made sure to not drink himself too silly because, knowing Sirius, his birthday party would leave him sick as a dog Monday morning.

He had left a small basket of gifts on Sirius's bed early that morning; including a box of Filibuster's Fireworks, a huge stash of chocolate frogs and a studded dog collar, something Remus wondered if Sirius would actually wear as a necklace. The final and biggest present he had presented to all the Marauders were engraved flasks, each with their Marauder name and a symbol similar to the ones of their tattoos. He had been hoping to save them for Christmas, but this Sirius's birthday was too perfect of a celebration to break them in.

Remus had gotten ready around the same time as his mates, choosing to continue his Phantom of the Opera thread by dressing as the Red Death, including the sword and a mask. He couldn't decide which of these was his favorite part of the costume, but it certainly was fun. It seemed fitting with the theatricality of the required masks to just go as far as humanly possible.

He had started drinking up in the dormitory, so he was a few steps ahead of the rest. There were already a few party goers in the common room as he entered, looking around. Remus knew about the charms, but he didn't think it would work this well. He stopped when he saw a blond and a dark haired girl chatting and paused hoping he actually knew them. Swallowing his nerves he wandered over, hoping he wasn't interrupting.

"'Evening ladies," he greeted them, raising a glass of clear liquid. "I hope you're both doing well."

"Dorcas! Finally, somebody I recognize!" Hestia exclaimed the moment her friend wrapped her arms around in a surprise hug. She was partly relieved as she returned the hug; even though there was a bit of fun in uncovering the identities of the mask-wearers, it could have been a potentially awkward scenario if she hadn't recognised anyone. As soon as the two girls broke apart, Hestia took a step back to marvel at Dorcas' ensemble. "Dor, you look absolutely stunning," she remarked. "I love it!"

The common room was abuzz with Gryffindors and the occasional Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw, as more people filtered in and out. Hestia raised her eyebrows as a girl walked in with a dress that barely covered her buttocks. "You don't perchance happen to recognize anybody, do you?" she whispered in Dorcas' ear.

She looked up as a brown-haired boy greeted her and Dorcas. He was wearing a dramatic red getup, replete with a sword and mask. "Lovely costume, sir!" she greeted, raising her glass of juice in return. "How are you enjoying the party?"

Remus smirked when the brunette greeted her. He was so awful at recognizing people as it was, he was completely in the dark as to who was standing before him. The eyes behind his skull mask kept glancing at the blond, somewhere to even a point of staring. Bloody hell, she looked stunning.

"Thank you. You both look lovely tonight as well. It has been an excellent start to the night," Remus replied, pausing for a moment and spoke again, his voice much lower. "It's Remus, please tell me I know you two before I make a complete arse out of myself."

He knew Sirius would probably smack him upside the head for ruining the fun of the masks, but Remus didn't want the embarrassment of rambling to people who could potentially be his friends.

Although Kira hadn't thought much about it until Sunday afternoon had come, she realized how unnerving it could be not knowing a single person at Sirius' party. Honestly, Gryffindors and their adventures! She didn't exactly have a lot of time after dinner to talk to Lily, Dorcas, and Hestia about it, either. The party was scheduled to take place immediately following, so she had to deny all other means of distraction in order to get ready. Kira was well aware many individuals opted for costumes at Sirius' parties, but more importantly, she was all costumed out. Even if the situation had proved otherwise, Kira didn't exactly have a spare costume lying around the dorm. She settled with a little black dress she hadn't worn in, well, ever and some matching sandal heels. The fact it was slightly skimpier than her norm didn't really phase her in the slightest considering no one would really know it was her anyway. She had complete say over whether or not the secret ever got out. All reserve aside, she figured she owed it to herself to let her hair down this once. Well, figuratively speaking of course. Her choice hairstyle for the evening was a pristine updo, complete with a white feathery flower hair pin. To tie the white into her costume a bit more, Kira had settled on a mask one of her dormmates had made for her specifically for the occasion. All that remained was the confundus charm, which she had mastered since the first year so that was hardly a problem.

Kira covered herself in a black cloak just in case her brother happened to be lurking around the Ravenclaw common room. Knowing Benjy, he would have had her turn around and put something less revealing on. Needless to say she didn't want to play by the rules tonight. If her dress wasn't proof enough, the cases of Guinness she'd bought as her host's gift probably spoke volumes. She had another couple of housemates help her carry them along with the assortment of hair care products, shower gels, and oils she'd bought for Sirius' gift (mostly in mockery of her little shower excursion a month ago). Kira also had made a point to bring Molly's birthday gift along--a rather extravagant flower ring she'd purchased by owl through a shop in Diagon Alley. She knew it wasn't likely she'd be able to pinpoint Molly from among the other students, but if she placed the gift among Sirius' with Molly's name on it, surely he'd see to it his housemate received it. Taking hold of the cauldron cakes she'd special ordered from the Hogwarts' kitchens, Kira led her throng of Ravenclaws to the show.

To her surprise, the Fat Lady didn't require a password. Kira was slightly put off by that fact considering she'd been looking forward to surprising her mates with her knowledge of such things. Her pride aside, she led the disoriented students through the passageway into the already bustling Gryffindor common room. Kira directed the students where to go with each item, and she herself followed the beer to the refreshment table to place the cauldron cakes beside them. When that had been sorted, Kira stepped away from her peers to remove her cloak. Draping the cloak over her arm, her eyes darted throughout the room for a suitable place to ditch it.

Sirius had been enjoying himself so far, as he always did at his birthday parties. Though he wasn't recognizable with his mask on, that just meant that his actions had no consequences. It also meant he didn't have to play at being the host any more than he wanted to, which he enjoyed quite a bit. A complete lack of responsibility, restraint, and repercussions? What better way to celebrate Sirius Black's birthday?

Coming off a dance, he was heading over towards one of the tables of refreshments for a little pick-me-up when he saw a very good-looking blonde come in wearing quite the skimpy little dress. She appeared to be looking for a place to ditch her cloak, too, which gave him the perfect in. Sirius came up behind her and took her cloak, offering her a gallant grin in exchange. "Let me take that for you, gorgeous," he offered, taking the cloak and clasping it round the neck of a nearby large lion statue. "Now that that's sorted, care to give me the pleasure of a dance?" Sirius continued, offering her his arm.

The boy who'd come up behind her definitely caught Kira by surprise. Had she seen him coming, she probably would have evaded the interaction. It wasn't exactly Kira being the typical shrew, rather she was extremely cautious. Having been burned by boys more than enough for her liking, even masked identities didn't make her feel any more secure. Nevertheless she couldn't see someone as sensible as herself really falling for a stranger with an unknown identity, so maybe the mask was more of a safeguard than she gave it credit for. As the boy took the cloak from her, she smirked. Though tempted to ask him whether or not it was acceptable to put one's hands all over someone else's things where he'd come from, she refrained this once. Kira could seem heartless at times, but she wasn't so bad as to offend a boy who possibly only had confidence when his identity was hidden. Once she got a proper feel for this boy she'd bring out the typical Kira, but not a second sooner. "Cheers," she added, watching as he draped her cloak around the lion statue. He seemed confident enough leaving it there, so either he couldn't care less what happened to her cloak or he was secure enough with the Gryffindor common room to know it wouldn't just walk out. Though the typical Ravenclaw in her had to begin guessing which house he belonged to, Kira rationalized a mask paired with confundus could leave anyone looking otherwise. She still found it rather amusing he thought her to be gorgeous despite not properly knowing and seeing her for who she was, but went along with the compliment all the same.

Once the boy turned back around, Kira averted her eyes back to his. His attire alone told her he took pride in himself, and at least that was admirable. When the stranger offered her a dance, Kira thought about it for a second before wrapping her arm around his. "Gladly." Stranger or no, dancing was certainly a weakness of hers. As was displayed so plainly the previous night, Kira didn't discriminate on the dance floor. She had no problem dancing with Xenophilius Lovegood, who had taken the form of some erroneous purple creature, when one of her favorite songs had come on.

As they made their way through the crowd toward the center of the room where the music was its loudest, Kira kept a lookout to see if she could spot any of her mates. No one in the common room appeared to be wearing anything she'd seen before, so that didn't help her case any. That aside, she thought for sure Sirius would be a dead giveaway. His overly cocky, confident manner could only be mistaken with one other--James. To her surprise, no one struck her as being either of them. Mentally shrugging off her reserve once the couple had come to a stop, Kira turned to face him. Her eyes were glued to his for a second before she took his hands in hers. It seemed as if they'd caught the tail end of a more upbeat song, so she wasn't sure if they were meant to wait for the next one or to have at it now. Either way, she wasn't about to stand there looking lost. Far be it from Kira to not take the initiative. Holding the boy's hands allowed her enough space between them to keep from getting too inappropriate, considering the way she moved would have warranted a second glance from her brother if only he'd known any better.

Typically Kira would have made small talk, but the fast-paced and rather loud song allowed for otherwise. Content with dancing alone, Kira finally became slightly more comfortable releasing the boy's hands in order to dance properly on her own. Though she was unaware of it, the students around them kept unconsciously creeping closer to the couple, making it almost inevitable that the pair dance closer. By the time Kira realized what had happened, she was within inches of the boy's body. Resting her hands on his chest as they moved to keep some sort of decency between them, she finally decided it was time to make small talk about the only thing she assumed everyone at the party had in common. "So... how do you know the birthday boy?" she chimed in rather loudly, just when the song began to fade into a slower one. Kira slowed her movements to an abrupt halt as if expecting that to be the end of their dance.

As if it were necessary in addition to all of his other gifts, Sirius Black was quite a good dancer. When this mysterious blonde accepted his invitation to a dance, he couldn't help but grin. The first song was rather fast-paced, which made Sirius remember the slight debacle of last night. He had very nearly come to blows with the Head Boy on the dance floor, and for what? Far from deciding to censor himself, with this one, Sirius decided instead to not divulge his identity this time. After all, his reputation proceeded him, and it would be interesting to see where he got with a bird who didn't know who he was, for a change.

He was also well glad that the other students at his party were the pushy sort, because despite the girl's apparent propriety, they were being pushed closer and closer together. Even when she put her hands against his chest a bit, he continued to try to slip closer to her whenever possible.

When the song ended and another started up, Sirius didn't particularly want to stop dancing with her. For his part, he was having quite a good time thus far. Therefore, as the slower song began, Sirius simply slipped his arms around her waist and continued dancing, coaxing her into moving along with him. At her question, he gave a slight noncommittal shrug. "Housemates," Sirius answered, which wasn't so much a lie as an omission of the truth.

Eager to change the topic, he didn't ask her the same question, as he might have otherwise done to try and suss out her identity. Instead, he shifted just a bit closer to her and continued the conversation. "My guess would be that you're..." He paused for a moment, as if in contemplation, and continued, "A Ravenclaw? Rowena always did like beautiful things, or so they say."

Amelia was quite excited about the second party happening this weekend. Admittedly, she knew Sirius' party would be a lot more fun, though the ball had proved to go better than she'd planned. After dinner on Sunday night, she hurried upstairs, hunting down her outfit and mask so she could get ready. This year's theme for Mia seemed to be faeries, or maybe she was just taken with wearing pretty wings. Either way, she had found a gorgeous light gold strapless dress that she simply could not ignore. It had sequins adorning the bust line, and was probably shorter than Ed would approve of. (Not to mention the ample amount of tasteful cleavage the top awarded her)

Unlike her Titania costume, the wings she'd found for tonight were a matching gold to the dress, and they were beautifully decorated monarch's wings. Mia charmed them so they fluttered every so often and had a more realistic texture, then finished off her outfit with a beautiful tiara that was placed over her elegantly curled and sexily swept updo. Giving herself a once over at the final product, she was very satisfied with the results after a light dusting of makeup was added. Grabbing her mask that she'd changed from pink to gold and silver, she slipped it on before getting to work putting on her heels that wound around her calves and fastened a little below the knee, then headed off to Gryffindor tower.

She laughed as the painting guarding the entrance remarked about her shoes and her wings, before thanking her and smiling brightly as she stepped inside. Mia glanced around for a familiar face, but it was next to impossible to figure out who was who. She managed to spy Sirius based solely on his trademark hair and reminded herself to track him down again when he wasn't occupied to wish him a happy birthday, before turning to grab a drink and resume her search for someone familiar.

Having carefully dressed as a traditional sea captain, cloak, tricorn hat and all, Fabian rummaged around the form for the seaman's mask he had bought from Zonko's on the last Hogsmeade weekend and slipped it on, having found it underneath Osric's bed. Checking his appearance in the mirror, he skipped down the starirs, landing in the common room with a thud. He wondered vaguely to himself which of the girls would be there tonight.

Septima had chosen to go as Madame de Pompadour to the party of Sirius, a fellow Quidditch player, mostly because she felt the design would be an awful lot warmer than the lighter gown she had worn to the ball the previous evening. It was the same dress, of course, having transfigured it over the course of the morning, and added a mask that she had transfigured from some parchment. A small bit of potion to make her hair resemble a small powdered wig, she approached the fat lady somewhat nervously, not being quite sure how to get in. A younger Gryffindor - she wasn't sure who - let her in and she began to survey the common roon, having never been in it before.

Gideon wasn't sure what sort of trouble he was going to get in that night, but he was hoping for a great deal of fun to come out of it. He'd rigged together a pretty good Julius Caesar costume, which really was just some well-placed sheets and fastenings. Truth be told, Gideon just wanted to wear a toga because, well, it was Sirius Black's birthday party and if there was ever a reason to wear a toga, that would be it. He'd managed to snag a pretty cool mask, too.

It would be weird to be at a party where he wouldn't be able to find Fabian on a moment's notice, but that wasn't going to keep Gideon from having a good time. He bounded down the stairs a little after his brother, and started to mingle with the crowd.

The crowd had grown rather to the large size of medium and Tiberius was....in a manner of speaking....on fire. At this point he was using all around him as buoys keeping him upright until he found some constant support, whether by a wall, a comfy gold and red armchair, or even a person. Anything would do, really, and Tiberius was quite happy and quite friendly.

He had been having a great past 24 hours. He had made it to the ball, made things better with Mia, and he was almost certain Ed was unaware he was even back. He wasn't worried about seeing him tonight either. Not only were everyone's appearances unrecognizable, but Ed would most likely not be attending after the drama at the ball that Tiberius had seen a part of. He was looking forward to one more night before facing Ed again, and he was very thankful for it. Since he hadn't planned on attending this party until last night, he had little time to prepare anything fancy. He wore his normal clothing for the most part. He tried to dress it up to at least attempt secrecy. He transfigured an autumn leaf he found under his bed into his mask, which turned out being more impressive than anticipated.

So as he stumbled on, he noticed a man with dark hair and a white robe. For a moment, Tiberius considered that perhaps he had actually just died and was seeing god or God or a god (he wasn't quite sure what he believed). But as he came to realize how ridiculous that was, and as he came closer, he met himself face to face with,

"Herpo the Foul!!!!!!! I thought that I'd be seeing you sooner or later. Come back for round two since I beat your soddy ass to a pulp on my History of Magic O.W.L.?!?!??!!?" he managed to slur in a manner that was really funny and entertaining, but at the same time the slightest bit alarming because you couldn't be 100% sure he wasn't meaning it. He articulated this with a dramatic point to the accused's chest accompanied by a challenging look, which he hoped pierced through his foe's silver mask.

Of all the things and scenarios Gideon had considered he might stumble upon at Sirius' birthday party, being mistaken for a dark wizard who invented dark curses and had a weird obsession with snakes was not one of them. It made him laugh, though. He had no idea who it was that was accusing him of being such a wizard, but whoever it was seemed to be pretty obliterated. He glanced down at the finger poking into his chest, then back up a the masked man. What was he supposed to be? A tree?

"Common misconception, mate. I'm afraid I'm his younger brother. A lesser known foul. More of pleasant, really. Squint a bit, and you'll see I'm much better looking than Herpo. He's a right git, eh? You say you whooped him to a pulp, did you?" He clapped the other on the back. "Good for you, mate."

He tried to hide his laughter behind his words, but there was no hiding the smile on his face. Drunken stupors were far too amusing. He needed to find whatever this bloke had gotten into and have a bit himself.

The laughter and the smiles were very disorienting. Never before had Tiberius know a true dark wizard to facilitate such emotions openly. He was faced with a decision to make. He could either continue to accost Herpo until he confessed he truly was Herpo, or he could believe that this man in front of him was not in fact Herpo the Foul.

He took his advice and squinted at the man. Since his eyes were in a state of half close before, not his eyes were barely even open. He also cocked his head to the side in hopes that it would help reveal the true identity of the man in front of him. Indeed, his playful and jovial face was much better looking than Herpo. Wait....why did he notice that? He banished the thought from his mind.

"You are indee righ I DID! He was never able to recover. An thangyu. I mean sorry. You are quite correct, I was mistaen. You're NOT Herpes the Foul! You are definadely not. So sorry. How can I make id up to you?"

He was desperate to redeem himself for this beautiful yet to be identified man. He looked at what he had in his hands and felt around his pocket. All he had was his flask and a pipe. Knowing that only one was suitable indoors, he proffered it to his newfound ally.

"Heer, take a swig!"
