Summary: Everybody parties at the Halloween Ball!

This is your ball post, everyone! Here's how this will go.

Different locations in the Great Hall will be posted as separate comments, which will include a little description of each. These will be the Entrance Hall, the Dance Floor, and the Tables. You should reply to any/all of these comments with your character, and if other characters reply to that subthread, they are interacting with your character. Please indicate in the subject whether your character's subthread is open or whether it has participants in mind already (EG, maybe John is at the ball and taking a break from dancing at the tables, waiting to see if someone comes up to him, so the title for his comment would be "Jack/Open", but maybe Jill is meeting Adam at the ball, so she would reply to the Entrance Hall thread with "Jill/Adam" in the subject).

Please wait to reply the ball until all the comment locations are up. Backdating of threads/journals related to the ball is allowed until Tuesday, and posting placeholders is not allowed. If you have any questions, feel free to PM the mod account!

Deciding to dress up as someone who she felt matched her personality, Mary was going as Miss Elizabeth Bennet from the classic of Muggle literature, Pride and Prejudice. It was probably the only time that Mary was happy wearing a dress. And, secretly, if she met her Mr. Darcy, that would just be all the better.

Even though dancing was not normally her cup of tea, she saw Molly in the crowd and began wading over to her friend.

"Molls! Happy birthday! I'm so happy that everyone else realized that we needed to throw a school-wide event to honor you. And you look great! But... who exactly are you supposed to be? The Easter Bunny?" Mary guessed from the ears. Being of Muggle background, she never grew up hearing any of the Tales of Beadle the Bard.

OOC: Sorry! Mary posted while I was writing mine and I didn't refresh. So I'm reposting and adding her in! :D

Once she left Trish and Ed to their own devices, she figured it was time to have some fun. Unlike some of the student body who steered clear of the punch just in case, Mia had a glass or two before she hit the dance floor. She wasn't sure if it was spiked since she couldn't taste the alcohol, but she did start to feel rather giddy the longer she drank. Which is exactly when she stopped herself and decided to dance it off. There were plenty of students on the dance floor, and she was even lucky enough to find Trish a couple times.

Laughing as she came out of a spin, Mia turned and spotted a familiar shock of red hair a few feet away. The rabbit ears had her brightening with delight, and she hurried over to Molly with an eagerness in her step. She'd left her cloak at one of the tables where some girls from her year had seated themselves, so only the dress flowed around her as she spun her way towards her friend. "Mol! I love your costume!" Embracing her friend, Mia then pulled back and beamed. "How is the birthday girl doing this evening?" She said with a grin, then turned as Mary approached from the other side. Surveying the other girl's costume, Mia gave her a smile and a wave as she greeted Molly. "She's Babbity Rabbity!" she said, then looked over at Molly just in case she was wrong; and so her friend could explain who that was.

Molly couldn't help but laugh at Mia's obvious delight- oh, she was so glad that she had decided to attend the ball after all! "Mia, you look amazing!" she enthused, returning the hug and then stepping back to admire the dress. A belated hug to Mary as well, with thanks for the birthday wishes, before nodding at Mia's explanation. "I'm supposed to be her, at least!" Molly offered. "She's from a wizarding story," she explained, for Mary's benefit. "She was a rabbit animagus! Hence the-" Molly shook her head, her knit rabbit ears bouncing as she did, "-ears."

Mary accepted and returned the hug with Molly. And after listening to Mia's explanation, Mary still had no idea of who this Babbity Rabbity was, but rabbit animagus made sense.

"Oh, that's brilliant! I've never heard the story, but you still look fantastic! And, Mia," Mary paused to take in the elegant dress Mia was wearing, "You look stunning. Trying to make all the boys that came with dates rethink their decisions?" Mary casually joked with Mia. Then Mary brushed a strand of her own hair back in place, which fell immediately back over her eyes. It was too early in the night to already be rethinking her costume choice and having to be dressed up all night, but the thoughts were already creeping into Mary's mind.

Mia was glad to hear she'd been right about her friend's costume choice. It really was a brilliant idea, and Molly looked wonderful. "You look great. I love the ears! Did you make them yourself?" She couldn't help but smile as the two girls complimented her dress, and Mia knew she'd made the right choice in letting her mother talk her into this costume.

"That was not my intention, Miss Mary. I merely fell in love with the dress when mum showed me." Giving the other girl a smile, she tried to figure out her costume but was stumped. She read a lot of muggle books, thus her Titania costume, but Mary's was lost on her. "I love your dress too, Mary, though I'm embarrassed to admit I don't know who you're supposed to be," she said with a sheepish grin.

	"I did!" Molly was always happy when someone said that they liked something she had made, even something as simple as the ears were. An even larger smile spread across Mary's face. "Miss Elizabeth Bennet, at your service," Mary offered with a small curtsey. "I thought she reflected my personality quite well. But I've heard I'm not the only one going as Lizzie, so, maybe it's just a general period costume?"

"Speaking of romance stories, did I miss the owl that dates were required for this? Isn't it more fun just to go with friends and not have to worry about someone else tagging along?"

At the question of dates, Molly hesitated- she knew that it was likely a tentative subject with Mia, and with herself, well, no one had even asked her. "If there's someone else walking around then it just proves you've got good taste. You look amazing." Mia gave the other girl a smile, though it took a good bit of effort to keep the expression when dates were mentioned a second later. It wasn't Mary's fault she'd brought up a sore subject, and she definitely wasn't going to let the little disappointment bring down their evening.

Nodding as Molly spoke, she smiled brightly at her friend. "I think dates are overrated. I am glad Molly here convinced me to come. I'm definitely having a great time."

As soon as Mary made her comment about dates, she realized just who she was talking to. Mary would much rather have Mia outwardly attack her for saying something than just keeping it to herself.

"Oh, Merlin's pants, I'm such a daft cow. Sorry 'bout that. I've just... I'm... Gah, I really don't think before I speak, especially when it comes to blokes." Mary could feel her face flushing a bit from a combination of embarrassment and anger at her self.

"How 'bout I get us all some drinks?" Mary offered as a way to step away for a moment.
