Although Kira had always got along rather well with Sirius and the rest of his mates, the events of the past week had left her with a bit of a sour taste in her mouth. She butted heads with Black in Transfiguration class, but the two did manage to make peace between them shortly after. Despite all that, talk on Lily's recent journal entry led Kira to believe the boys could do with some good, old fashioned humbling. They spent so much time being the ones entertaining the student body that no one really had a proper chance to get even.
However, that was all about to change. Kira stumbled upon a beautiful mistake in Potions class just the day before. Crushing instead of chopping and a few stinging nettle leaves as opposed to ivy was all it took. Typically Kira was on top of her game where class participation came in to play, but today her mind was elsewhere. She considered it nothing more than Wuthering Heights withdrawals. Whatever the reason, when Slughorn tested her potion after class he discovered the consequences of her mistakes.
Kira was initially quite appalled, apologetically so, that her professor's hair littered the floor following a sip of her potion. Fortunately his eyebrows, eyelashes, and she assumed everything else, remained intact. Regardless, it was difficult to face him. He offered to give her a second chance during a free period later in the week, one she gladly took, and she took off with a sample of her potion under his instruction to test for the error and correct it.
What Slughorn could never have foreseen was the fact Kira had better things in mind for that potion. Sirius, who had already told her several times before how cherished his hair was, would be in for a big surprise. Though initially she was going to try to focus her efforts on him alone, Lily's journal entry allowed her to see the whole lot of his mates could do with a little humiliation. Kira poked around to figure out the easiest way to make the switch between their bottles and her own, and once she had what she deemed to be a fool proof plan, she asked for Lily's blessing. All systems were "go."
Bright and early, long before she assumed anyone would be alert enough to start getting ready for classes, Kira offered up the password Lily tipped her off on before the Fat Lady's portrait and made her way into the Common Room. Admittedly it was her first time surrounded by the red and gold, but having prepared herself in advance through Hogwarts, a History, she wasted little time dawdling. With one shampoo bottle filled with potion tucked under her arm, she made headway for the boys' showers. It would take no more than a squeeze into each shampoo container, followed by a hearty shake, to do the trick.
The showers were spaced rather strangely compared to that of the girls' showers in Ravenclaw, but Kira wasn't too concerned about that. She had enough to dart between the gaps and fill every container she could find to ensure the Black and his posse wouldn't be missed. After what had to have been her third shower, Kira froze just outside the curtain of a familiar voice. Speaking of the devil, it was Sirius Black singing some sort of song about a bicycle. Scrunching her nose up and covering her mouth with the back of her arm to stifle her laughter, Kira considered simply reaching a hand in to switch out the entire bottle with whatever bottle was in there already. She could see the edge of it from under the curtain, so maybe it wouldn't be near as difficult as it sounded after all! Just when she was crouching down to reach for it, she heard a rather loud voice in the doorway. She couldn't make out who it was, but rather than risk being discovered, Kira forced herself to do the unthinkable.
Not wasting any more time, the Ravenclaw thought on her feet and darted into Sirius' shower with her bottle of potion. As if on cue, he spun around to see what the hell was going on, and immediately her hand shot up to his mouth to keep him quiet, trying her best to avoid getting too close to the water and to keep her eyes fixed on his. Much to her displeasure, the voice drew closer to their area, the boy it belonged to stopping just by the sinks and starting up the water. Rolling her eyes in exasperation, Kira looked anxiously at the curtain. Thanks to this tosser her plan was a bust.
