stranded!
Who: Everyone at the Party
What: Black Tie Ball; STORM!
Where: Shangri-La Hotel on an off-coast Island
When: MARCH 10; 9pm
Rating: TBD
Open? to EVERYONE!

Lights flickered twice in the ballroom, causing the band to stop. Without music and the joyful voices filling the room, a roll of thunder could be heard outside along with the rain coming down in sheets against the window. Guests glanced warily at the doors as the wind picked up, howling through the doors in the lobby left open.

So as not to cause alarm, the host of the evening jumped up onto the platform where the band was set up, picking up a microphone to garner everyone's attention.

"Folks! If I could have your attention please. The storm that we'd hoped would roll right past us seems to have decided to stick around. So right now all the launch boats have been docked. Now this isn't to cause any alarm, and we've still got a full bar, and the band is just getting revved up for another set, so eat, drink, be merry, and we'll ride out this storm just fine. Thanks!"

And with that, the band picked up, hoping to play out just another couple of hours until the storm passed.

[ mod-note; I decided to wait a little later than noon (obviously) because the beginning thread was going so well. It is now 4:30 (PST), and this is just the first thread of the night. If you want to wait for the next one, go ahead - the BLACKOUT thread will go up promptly @ 7:30pm (PST) ]

"HEY." He said, pointing a finger at her and shaking his head. "You my love, promised that you would never speak of that in public." He chuckled and squeezed her a little tighter to him. "Oh don't you dare tell him. I'll have to get that in writing."

"Yeah, show you something." He said, smiling again. A soft chuckle left his lips and he shook his head. "No bugs, I promise." He tugged on her, leading her to the far end of the room and toward a narrowing against the South side of the building. He stopped there, shrugging out of his jacket and then draping it over her shoulders. He didn't bother to glance back behind them or see if anyone was watching them, as nobody would stop him, and nobody could get to him, as his bodyguards were placed around the room as they should be.

"Through here." It took a little effort to swing a large glass framed door open, and he guided her outside into a shielded patio. Rain pummeled against the glass roofing there, wind howling through the gazebo-like patio. He shut the door behind them, the music and rumble of the crowd now muffled by the rain. "This, is what I wanted to show you." Standing behind her, he wrapped his arms around her body, pulling her back against his chest. He gestured toward the window in front of him, and the city across the water, blurred slightly by the rain.

Illana laughed, covering her mouth again. She leaned up on the tips of her toes and smiled, placing a kiss on his lips. "I'm sorry. Never again, I promise," she said, tilting her head to the side. "It's just ... you were such a dork. I don't think anyone knows what a dork you are but me, and your family. And I honestly like it that way," she smiled, running her hand down his chest softly. Shaking her head, she laughed again. "I won't tell him. Don't worry, love," she said, smiling.

"There better be no bugs," she muttered under her breath, "or no sex for a month," she said, unable to keep the smile out of her voice as he lead the way outside. When he shrugged off his jacket, she took it willingly and wrapped it around her shoulders. As he pushed open the door and guided her outside, she pulled his jacket tighter around her. The patio was shielded from the rain, but it was still chilly in there.

Leaning against his body as he pulled her against him, she rested her head against his shoulder and took in the sight of the city. "It's a gorgeous view," she said, nodding, her hands moving to cover his that rested around her waist. After a few moments, she turned her head to smile up at him. "You're such a romantic at heart," she accused, kissing the side of his face.
