getcho' party hats here!
Who: All the Boston-Elite
What: Black Tie Ball
Where: Shangri-La Hotel on an off-coast Island
When: MARCH 10; 7pm
Rating: TBD
Open? to EVERYONE!

It takes a lot of pull to get heavy hitters from all sides in one place. Most would never dream of stepping foot somewhere where they are not guaranteed the upper hand. Then again, when you're in a power struggle, it never hurts to show up at a fund raising party where it is much, much easier to make sure law officials and other men with power might just lean on your side. Everyone gets a little more chatty with a few drinks in them.

The old renovated hotel is located just fifteen miles off the coast of Boston Harbor. While not open for business, they have turned the entire downstairs into a huge ballroom. The upstairs has been roped off due to renovations still going on, rather preferring to keep the guests in secured areas. In a building built in the 1900's, it's a scene straight out of an old movie. Antique chandeliers hang from the ceiling, with a large fully stocked bar against one wall, and tables lining around a massive dance floor in the middle. Servers are dressed in the "penguin suit" attire, their entire purpose to make the party perfect for the guests.

Nothing less than black ties, tuxedos, and designer gowns is expected, and everyone will just see who has the deepest pockets in Boston. Everything is set and polished, ready for what promises to be the event of the season.

(mod note; feel free to put up threads from anywhere in the noted areas, or even with your characters on the launch boats on the way over. In the 'subject' line of your thread, make sure to put who it is open to, and where your character is. Threads will go up at NOON tomorrow, starting the storm/blackout. Sunday is when the NPC guests will start disappearing. This drama can and will go on into next week, but for schematics of the game, it will all be taking place on "March 10", over the course of the evening/night/morning. HAVE FUN! )

IN THE BALLROOM [Lisa/Antoinette]

For the first night since her baby girl was born Lisa was away from her child. Kate Connelly was currently looking after Bella and although Lisa was fully aware that Kate knew how to take care of a child, and had much experience in the issue, Lisa still found herself worrying immensely. Turning to Andrew, after smoothing out the intentional creases in the skirt of her dress for the hundredth time that night, she pressed her lips lightly to his cheek, “I am going to go just give Kate another call, I forgot to tell her that Bella really likes it when I sing her ‘Octopus's Garden’, and that usually helps her fall asleep easier”

Lisa knew she was being paranoid and worrying over nothing, and that Kate was probably sick of her calling, but she just could not help it. Turning away from Andrew, Lisa walked out of the ballroom towards the area where they had a bunch of flashy looking pay phones. Holding the receiver Lisa no longer had to look at the piece of paper Kate had given her with the home number on it, she now knew it off by heart. Of course Kate was doing fine with Bella, and was happy to assure Lisa that everything was OK and that she would call if anything came up. Lisa apologized for being silly before hanging up, only to turn around and lock eyes with Antoinette.

Offering her former BFF, but still currently her BFF in secret, a small nod she moved to stand beside her, of course not acknowledging that she was actually talking to her super secret best friend. She felt like James Bond, passing along secret information, though instead of giving Antoinette information on a warehouse's schematics where explosives were being kept she passed along a compliment, "Your dress is adorable" she said quickly over her shoulder, after making sure nobody was watching the two of them.

It didn’t take long for Antoinette to spot Lisa, but it took her longer to lose Lucas (“Want to dance?”) and even longer to inconspicuously make her way over to her faux former friend. She did this by following a man with a tray of salmon hors d'oeuvres. Plucking an appetizer from the tray and noting that she was still quite a distance from Lisa, she followed a man with a tray of champaign flutes. When the waiter changed course, Antoinette plucked a glass from the champagne and waited until the next tray passed. barbecued Shrimp, Antoinette reached out to take one from the tray, her hand retreating when she realized she hated shrimp. The waiter looked at her expectantly. Antoinette waved him away. Taking a sip of hr drink, Antoinette noted a waiter walking is Lisa’s direction. She was off. To the casual observer, Antoinette must have looked like she was involved in a life-sized game of Frogger, involving fancy appetizers and alcohol.

Picking up her pace, she came to a stop and plucked an appetizer from the tray. Glancing down at her appetizer, she noted that she now held a barbecued shrimp. It must have been the same waiter she’d waved off moments earlier. Standing behind Lisa, perfectly poised and holding up a shrimp, Antoinette frowned in deep concentration. What was she supposed to do now? She couldn’t give it back to the waiter. She was interrupted from her thoughts by the sound of Lisa’s voice, “Thank you” she replied, still holding up the shrimp, “You yourself, look incredible” turning her attention back to her current dilemma, Antoinette decided to bring Lisa in on her problem, “You probably can’t see this, but I’m currently holding a barbecued shrimp and I am quite unsure what I should do with it”

It was common knowledge that Antoinette hated shrimp. Lisa knew this because of the many cocktail parties the two of them had been to in the past. If shrimp was around Antoinette would no doubt tell whoever was near about how much she despised the crustacean. This is why it confused and amused Lisa so much that her faux enemy was currently holding a barbecued shrimp.

Biting her bottom lip to keep from letting out a laugh Lisa turned her head slightly, "Why did you get one then?" she asked curiously, letting a small chuckle slip through. Picking up a napkin from a server who was passing by she held the napkin inconspicuously by her side for Antoinette to dispose of the shrimp in. "Here" She said, nodding her head towards her hand, "Put it in this and I'll throw it in 'beehive hair' over there. Nobody will ever know"

"I thought it was something that wasn't a crustacean!" Antoinette hurriedly whispered back to Lisa, a look of extreme distaste on her face as she continued to hold the shrimp out. Making a noise of disgust as her stomach churned, Antoinette glanced around the room to see if she'd drawn any attention, "It has it's tail still on it and everything, it's positively grotesque"

Glancing down, she noted that her best-friend was holding a napkin out for her. Disposing of the shrimp in the holds of the napkin, Antoinette shook her hand irritably, "Well if you don't chuck it, I'll probably be forced to throw up in her beehive hair anyway"
