Tess had left work early in a sprint. She couldn't wait to see her Dad. After going from constant phone calls to no contact as long as she had, she had missed him terribly. She drove the jeep to city hall to first find out where he was, and then she hurried over to her father's new little house on Irvine Street. For a moment she waited. She wondered what he would think about Danny, and Grace. About her getting married. She had for years said that she'd never settle down and now she was building a family, here of all places. After all, when they left this place, they wouldn't remember one another. She had to enjoy her time with him while she had the chance. Taking a deep breath, she slipped out of the driver's seat and walked across the lawn to the front door. The houses here were so quaint, and it certainly wasn't their house from back home. But she didn't need all of that, all she really needed was him.
Lifting her hand, she knocked on the wooden door in a few strong, paced raps. She wondered if he would look different. But she quickly brushed those thoughts aside. After all, he was Dad. He had kissed every booboo and taught her every life lesson as far back as she could remember. Now he was here, and he would get to experience one of the better parts of her life. She just hoped he could accept that she didn't want to leave this place now. Clearing her throat, she leaned a little closer to the door. "Mr. Spencer? Lincoln River Sheriff's Department, open up." She teased, swaying on her heels impatiently as she waited for him to come outside. If she had half as many manners, she would have let herself in and smothered the poor man on sight.
