Warded so that only Vincent can read it:

Dear Vincent,

The lightning rain didn't come near our house, so you can stop worrying. It didn't last as long as my predictions said it should, either. Somehow a new variable has been introduced. I don't know what it means for future attacks yet, we'll have to wait for any decripts that mention it to have any idea how the enemy will react.

One of my students has turned up in Britannia. You might remember her--Liane de Marigny, Sevvie's little cousin. Have you heard anything about Sevvie? It's been so long since I had any new data that my predictions are completly useless.

I wish I could have done something to find Liane sooner. She's done a thesis that'll redefine harmonics, if we're ever able to declasify it, but from the looks of it she wrote it on whatever she had to hand, which indicates that she wasn't able to work openly. Smart of her--if they'd had any idea what she was working on they'd never have let her go. She's safe now, but how many of my other students are in the same situation?

Do you ever regret being here, instead of over there where you could be helping people like Liane and Sevvie get out?

Affectionatly, Michel
