London... in England... This wasn't helping. Seriously. Calista just blinked at Zeke, that blank look of hers even more confused than before. Maybe she could google it when she got home... if she remembered. For the time being, she would just imagine it was on the moon or something, which sounded far away, because Calista said so. The idea of Holly actually living on the moon made Calista perk up a bit, but now wasn't the time to fantasize. Zeke needed her.
And while he explained everything to her in clear, simple words, it still didn't make sense. Not the whole Zeke having Holly's phone, because lord knew how many times Calista accidentally grabbed one of the boys' phones after practice. Earned some hilarious bar stories after. No, instead Calista was hung up on one detail. "... wait, you mean... after she left London, leaving this boyfriend behind, she was still with him?" Her eyebrows knitted together in confusion, which spoke leaps and bounds for Calista. "How does that work? That's not a boyfriend. That's someone who's too silly to realize you can buy a one-way ticket on over here to be with the one you love." Or at least she liked to think this Jamie loved Holly. If he wasn't pulling his weight, then he didn't deserve her.
And thus leaving room for a certain someone else to step up and sweep her off her feet.
"No, that's not how it works," Calista shook her head, still confused. "Two people who love each other don't leave each other like that. Love doesn't work like that." The thought of being separated from Quentin like that for more than a few days pained her. She loved the guy, truly did. Why would someone do that to another human being?
Pause. A flick of her wrist, pushing hair out of her face. "So," her eyes brightened up. "What did you guys talk about?" The funny part was that she was dead serious. Leave it to Calista to be a bigger space cadet than the air elemental in the room.
