She only took me for ten thousand yen
Who: Cleo, Marcus (NPC) & Seiko
Where: Beacon of Hope Woman's Shelter
When: Morning
Seiko did not like the process of actually going into the shelter in the morning. It meant that she was likely going to have to speak to one of the women currently in residence and she never enjoyed that. They were nothing but means to an ends and she did not see why anyone should actually expect her to talk to them. They were Americans. The worst sort of them as far as she cared, the sort who could not even find a way to take care of themselves. Oh they claimed that they had their reasons and could not do this or that but really. All the blame could be laid solely at the fact that they were Americans and had not had the drive instilled in them to do better like she had. No, Seiko did not sympathize with any sort of plight that may or may not have existed for Americans of any sort even if her shelter catered to a fair few. Now should someone from another country wander in then perhaps she could stir herself to care - and she definitely would if they were Japanese or some other type of Asian - but since that was a beyond rare occurrence she was left with these women who she only really cared about if they had a baby. Then, well, they deserved just a little bit of extra attention since they were all but marked.
"Hello, Ms. Miura." It was a redheaded woman whose name... Allison? Yes, Allison, and her little baby boy was Alex. "How're you today?"
"Just fine, Allison, thank you for asking," Seiko said with a smile, reaching over to ruffle the dark curls atop the baby's head. He could not have been more than four months old. Absolutely perfect. Glancing up from her study of the child she found a pair of blue eyes regarding her and the slight nagging of paranoia that had been eating at her ever since she left the house vanished at the sight of Marcus. No one would hear her thoughts. "You two have a lovely day." She even ruffled Alex's little curls before turning to join Marcus heading towards the offices in the back of the first floor. "Anything interesting today?" Not that she was really listening as he went on about this or that. Any complaints he might have about funding would be addressed by himself, not her, and if he felt the need to say them then it was only because he needed an outlet. Seiko was nothing if not a good listener. And as Marcus carried on about this and that she nodded her head, settling into her chair and pulling out her notes on the current list of residents. One had to keep abreast on who had left after all, make sure that the women with babies or the ones who were pregnant had gone nowhere. That would just be heart-breaking. "Mmhmm, I am listening, Marcus, we need more baby formula, I know. Send Tracy to buy some."
"We need to think more about saving..."
Seiko rolled her eyes at him. "Marcus, I just sold that Newman girl to the family in Midland, check the funds again."
His brow furrowed as he turned back to the computer. "Oh. When did you do that?"
"A few days ago. This is the sort of thing that you're really supposed to keep track of."
"Maybe if you told me when you did it."
Seiko shrugged, nibbling on the edge of her pen cap. "Pay better attention to our residents and you'd notice." Perhaps he had suffered long-term brain damage from that coma and it was only just manifesting itself.
