Hey, Mr. Curiosity
Who: Erika and Eva
Where: outside a video store
When: late afternoon
With some rearranging, Erika managed to hide the damage Petunia had done to the mystery bouquet enough to get a good set of pictures. She then sat down on the couch with her laptop to upload the photos, keeping one eye on her familiar at all times in case Petunia forgot that she wasn’t supposed to and went for a second helping. Twenty minutes later, Erika had a workable flier and set it to print 50 copies. She also emailed it to Jezebelle, in case the other woman wanted to put one up in or around her own shop.
Erika grabbed the first few fliers out of the printer tray before the rest were done and read over it to double check. “Did you receive this bouquet recently from an unknown sender? Perhaps with the following message?: 'Smile. Somebody out there loves you.’ If so, please call Erika at 734-555-7139.” It was one of the numbers for Seeds of Beauty, and in the middle of the flier was one of the pictures she’d taken of the arrangement. Hey, if people could handle her family’s weird quirks and occasionally morbid humor, they could handle her totally professional curiosity about the flowers. Well, her total professional curiosity and adorable detective-inspired outfit.
After putting one up in the front window of her own shop, Erika drove around town, putting up fliers outside of other flower shops or places that sold bouquets as well as outside other places people congregated, like coffee shops and restaurants. One row of small businesses - among them a video store, a cafe, and a real estate agent - even had a community bulletin board halfway down the block. Erika pulled up to the curb as close to it as she could, and Petunia watched out the open passenger side window while she tacked her flier to the board.
