Waiting out, drinking in the dark
Who: Jay and Kiara + Eilir (NPC)
Where: Community park
When: Late evening
Kiara was relatively content to be outside that night, sitting on top of one of the picnic tables while sipping on a frappucino that she had picked up from Starbucks on her way over. She could have just stayed at home and toyed with the paperwork that she was behind on - yet again - but had decided to come out. No, there were no transactions or even meetings planned, but Kiara knew that word spread quickly on the black market when there was someone selling blood. Provided that there were vampires around who were willing to deal with blood hunters. Now, that was actually a tricky title because Kiara did not consider herself to be any sort of hunter. She dealt in blood but she did not stalk out her sources for their blood so much as for the simply fact that she needed to kill them. Kiara had not left a victim of her murderlusts anything but drained of blood for at least a century and a half, maybe even two. Kiara really had lost track of how long she had been in the business. It was not like people actually asked for references and the like when they were buying blood. Because it was an illegal thing to do and papers were not necessary. She kept them mostly for the sake of Eileen because the girl was a fanatic about records and profit and treating the whole thing like it was a proper business. Eileen would talk her mother's ear off about business and all that mess if she let her. Which was precisely why Kiara never, ever let her do it after the first time. Contrary to semi-popular belief among people who had known her in Ireland she did learn from her mistakes.
Hopefully vampires would learn from the mistakes of their peers and realize that draining humans and leaving them out was a problem. Much better to use blood dealers like herself - or just herself, leave the blood banks and everyone else out of it - than risk creating a scene that would only help the anti-supernaturals out in the world. Made no real matter to her since she was not dumb enough to leave the body, but Eilir was all too fond of reminding her about a certain blonde vampire the two had met who was very likely to do that exactly. And had done it. 'Elise, wasn't it? She was nice in a really crazy way. You should go and see if you can find her again and make sure that she hasn't been caught up in this mess. Even if she likely contributed to it.' Neither of them would be all that surprised by something like that. Kiara just shrugged in an uncommitted way and flicked a leaf off the table next to her. Half an hour more and then she was going back to her apartment to get a few more boxes set up and tackle that paperwork. Just so that she did not have to hear anything about it from Eileen the next time that she called.
"Next time remind me to bring it with me," Kiara mumbled, turning her attention to a bit of dirt that had somehow managed to get itself under her nail. "Then I can have something to do when no one comes out." Which really, was more often than not, or it felt like it. At least three times a week, Kiara found sitting out here to be pointless. This was why she needed some sort of an assistant to do these things for her, keep her from getting bored waiting for a contact. And if Kiara got bored and the next person to come along happened to be male, well, then it sucked to be him.
