Big shot screaming, put your hands in the sky
Who: Isaiah Williamson and Rose Valentine
Where: The Owl's Nest
When: Late afternoon

When Josiah Williamson could take one look at his son and tell him to go home, that was when Isaiah knew things had taken a turn for the worst. Raina had called him that morning to say she was leaving town, her reasons very sudden and urgent - and without a thought of when she was coming back. Seeing as her sister had just made a similar move, Isaiah couldn't say he was exactly surprised, even though he was sure Earth elementals tended to put down roots in places such as this. Everything Raina had ever told him lead him to believe she was planning on sticking around for a good long while, and he couldn't help it - he'd let himself hope. That maybe this time he'd found the one, his mate, someone he could always rely on, the way his father had his mother.

Obviously, that wasn't the case. Things could be worse though, he could handle losing a girlfriend. Losing a mate was an entirely different story.

Isaiah wasn't in the mood to argue with his father, especially when he knew Josiah would win - and if Bradley was around, god help him if those two decided to team up and tell him to leave. Granted, the Nest was still closing early on account of the curfew, and logically he knew it wasn't the best idea to go out and get drunk at a time like this, Isaiah wasn't ready to go home right now. He'd already sent a text to Graham to see if the two of them could go out the following night, when he was off from work anyway. At the moment there wasn't much he could do, so he made himself some food (pork tenderloin with a strawberry balsamic reduction on fluffy couscous - just because he was upset didn't mean he wasn't going to eat well) and took a seat at the bar. "You want a beer?" the bartender asked as he came over.

Isaiah just shook his head. "Scotch. And don't be cheap with it." What? In Isaiah's mind, it was completely justified.

Rose didn't come to restaurants for a meal before work that often. Or at all, except for days like today, in which she craved - no, needed - to see, hear, and interact with people. Sure, one could say she did that aplenty at her place of work, which was true, but it was still just her place of work. Despite Rose herself finding this slightly weird, it was the movement, faces and presence of random people in places she wasn't so familiar with that she craved. Even if she never traded one word with them the whole time.

Due to the weather, when Rose walked into The Owl's Nest she was flustered and her hair had frizzed - because that's what hair does when confronted with drizzle. But she didn't care about any of that as she made her way to the bar; for all that it had been raining, Rose found herself horribly thirsty. She took a seat next to this other young man and settled in just in time to hear him ask for scotch. Rose glanced at him, noticing he looked like he'd had the worst day. Instinctively she shot him a smile of compassion that he was probably unaware of, but Rose didn't care.

When the bartender came over, Rose shot him a pleasant smile too. "Hi, can I get some water with lime, please? Thank you!" If there was a section of people Rose was as polite as possible to, it was restaurant and bar staff. Firstly, because they got a lot of crap for how much they were paid. And secondly, because you did not mess with the people who handled your food and drink. Not ever. Even the nicest of people could very well do something drastic to your order if you deserve it enough.

Isaiah might have been a little out of it, but he still nodded his thanks to the bartender as he passed him his drink. It was probably going to get back to his dad in the kitchen what exactly he was drinking - stupid restaurant gossip mill and everyone knowing who he was - and it was only a matter of time before someone asked him what happened. Needless to say that was not the conversation Isaiah wanted to have at this point in time, and the look on his face said as much. After the weekend, then maybe he'd tell the staff.

Maybe. There'd been high fives when he broke up with his last girlfriend. This one? Not so much. And he wasn't really ready to hear someone talk shit about Raina quite yet.

He did still catch the smile of the woman next to him, and the polite way she spoke to the bartender. That didn't always happen with customers, no matter what restaurant you worked in, even though people really should know not to mess with people who make your food. Sipping at his scotch, Isaiah smiled back, appreciating the sentiment nevertheless. It was good to know there were still genuinely nice people around in the world.

Rose wasn't really the type to start up a conversation with a stranger, and she wouldn't in this situation, but she did sneak glances at the man sitting next to her here and there. Firstly, because it was unusual to see someone having a meal and drinking scotch to go with it, and secondly because this man looked like he had had the worst day - and the way wasn't even over.

Still, he smiled back, which was nice. Taking a long sip of her water, Rose closed her eyes in pleasure when it hit her throat. She had been really thirsty, and she had no idea why. Rose put down her glass to take a breather, and right then her mobile phone rang with the text alert. Scrambling to get her hands inside her purse, Rose did not really know how it happened but she managed to topple over the glass. "Oh! So sorry!" She apologized, both to the man next to her and the bartender, all the while thanking God that the glass only had a bit of water in the bottom. And lime, but that had not fallen out. "Sorry. It didn't reach you or your plate, did it?" She asked the man next to her, visibly concerned.

It was a worrisome possibility that she could be becoming this clumsy even while away from Grayson.

Isaiah was more so thinking that, if he was having food with the liquor, he'd still be okay to ride back to his apartment when he was done for the evening. He could ask his dad for a ride home, but he didn't want his family to worry over him more than they were already going to. His constitution as a were meant it took a good amount of alcohol to get him drunk, and scotch was his drink of choice whenever he was in a bad mood. And at the moment, he was beyond caring what anyone else might think of him.

He did look up at the sound of the glass hitting the bar, though, moving a bit faster than might have been considered normal. "It's all good," he said, grabbing the napkin currently in his lap and using it to mop most of the water that had spilled. "Hey Jake," he said to the bartender, "you want to grab us a few napkins, and her another water?" Depressed or not, this was still his family's restaurant and he wasn't about to run out on that responsibility now.

Taking the wet napkin, he leaned back a little and tossed it into a bucket with similar dirty towels, sitting on the floor behind the other side of the bar. "See, not a problem," he said. "Thanks for keeping me on my toes, though, I think I could use that right now."

Because Rose wasn't that much of a drinker - she was the type to have two beers and get all giggly, after all - it did not occur to her that he might be having the scotch with food to curb the effects a little bit. All she had thought was that it was odd, but she saw no reason behind it.

"God, I've been impossible lately with this kind of thing. I'm really sorry, let me do that, I didn't mean to interrupt your meal!" She told him, extremely apologetic in her demeanour and a world of embarrassed to go with it. The way he moved, though, gave Rose no space to step in. "You look like you've done this kind of thing way too much. Do you work here or something?" She asked, still embarrassed but now a little less so given he hadn't been a bastard about it.

That he thanked her put an incredulous smile on Rose's face. "That's unexpected!" She exclaimed. "If you don't mind me saying, you did strike me as a little morose. Are you okay?" Well, she cared. Even if it was none of her business, Rose supposed she was 'nice like that'.

Isaiah just shrugged, not really worried about whether or not she was interrupting his meal. Hell, at this rate his own thoughts had him distracted from everything going on around him, so this? Perfect distraction as far as he was concerned. "Seriously, don't worry about it, it happens. Could have been worse." Like spilling a full drink, and something that wasn't water. Anything with sugar in it would be a bitch to clean up.

Talking about the restaurant, though, that was enough to get a ghost of a smile onto Isaiah's face. "I do, my family actually owns the place," he said. "I'm one of the chefs, just got off of work." Better than admitting his dad had told him to leave by a long shot. Then, shifting, he held a hand out to her. "I'm Isaiah."

And then the smile faded, and he reached out for his drink and took a sip. "Having a rough day," he said. "Not a pretty story, and I don't blame you if you don't want to listen." Hell, they'd just met, he didn't have to dump all his shit on her at once, wouldn't be very nice. Though it was still really nice of her to ask, most people never did these days.

Immediately thinking back to the major spilling accident the other night at work, Rose chuckled under her breath. "Yeah, I guess it could, huh? Thank you for the replacement drink, though you really didn't have to order one, I was almost done!" She said as she sipped on the new one - why not? She intended on paying for both of them anyway.

"Oh, really? That explains it. It's a lovely place you've got here." She complimented, looking around as she spoke. "I actually came in here for a meal before work, please don't tell me you're the only good chef, or something, and I'm way late!" Rose grinning, before taking his hand in hers. "Rose, nice to meet you."

With a shrug, Rose, who had finally checked her phone to see nothing important in that message, thank God, turned to face Isaiah better. "Ah, you look like you could use a voice box, and I'm a damn good listener, especially when I'm eating. So maybe you could show me to a table, seeing as the place is kind of yours, and maybe you could vent. I mean, it's not like you're going to offend anyone, I'm a stranger!" She reasoned, gaze widened to emphasize her words. "What do you say? I promise I'll agree with you in everything, you look like you need that too, right now."

It wasn't as though Rose had ulterior motives with this offering, not beyond the huge amount of time where she felt lonely and could use a friendly face to talk about unimportant - and important - crap with. Pathetic though this made her, it was probably why she'd taken to being so nice to strangers all of her life.

"Not a problem." True, she'd been almost finished with it, but it was just the right thing to do, at least in his mind. Talking about the restaurant was always a good icebreaker with him, and a hint of his normal, somewhat-cocky side could show through, "Thank you, we do our best. Been doing this a long time." In terms of the place itself, having been in the family for a few generations, and the fact that Isaiah had more or less grown up here. He knew the place, literally, like the back of his hand.

He chuckled, "Good to meet you too, Rose. And you're in luck, my dad's still here and my food's pretty damn good, his might be better. Might." It was a long-suffering argument between the two, who could top the other. In Sai's opinion, it wasn't long until he overtook Josiah in the food department. Between his dad and Bradley teaching him, how would he not?

And then she offered to listen to him vent for a while. Not what Isaiah was expecting, but hey, he'd take it. "I think I'd like that," he said after a second, getting up from his seat and grabbing his plate and his drink. "In trade, I'll get you the best meal here, and you can let me know what you think of it." Of course, Isaiah was biased, he thought they were all awesome, but he didn't know what she might like yet - steak, pasta, seafood, he had his favorites for all of them.

Isaiah waved at one of the hostesses as he picked one of the corner tables, as if to say, "This one's mine," before looking back at Rose. "This one good for you?"

Isaiah's attitude was making Rose smile; she was not exactly used to overly nice people, especially not those who seemed genuinely so. Despite not being the most cynical of people Rose wasn't oblivious either, so anyone who seemed genuinely nice had the distinct power to improve her mood exponentially. She chuckled at Isaiah's reluctance to admit his father's food was better than his own. "Ah, I'm sure one day the apprentice will surpass the master, isn't that what usually happens?"

With a sigh of relief, Rose hopped from her stool to follow Isaiah, glad that he hadn't laughed in her face at her bold suggestion to let a stranger vent all he wanted to her. Truth be told, she got lonely sometimes; these little encounters often made up for the lack of friends she could call or text pretty much every day, even if just to joke around. "Oh, that's pay enough, I'd love to try your best meal!" Especially since she was beginning to get quite hungry. "This is perfect." She nodded at Isaiah's table choice, before pulling the chair and sitting down. "I'm glad you didn't find my suggestion ridiculous..." Rose mumbled with a smile.

It was probably the angelic side of him mixed with how he'd been raised, but Isaiah was generally a decent guy. Of course he talked a lot of shit when he was on the rugby field, or if someone challenged him, but who didn't? Isaiah liked Rose so far, and the fact tha his mood improved at all was a good thing. Every little bit was a good thing in his book. "Oh, I know I will," he said, chuckling at the thought of besting his dad in the kitchen, "just don't tell him that."

He took a seat across from her, setting down his drink and half-finished food. "I'm glad you suggested it, actually," he admitted. "It'll be good to have an impartial ear to talk to who doesn't have an opinion on the whole thing." Because god only knew that everyone here at the Nest did, at least when it came to Sai's love life. "What kind of food do you like? Steak? Pasta? Seafood?" After all, he had to know what to order for her, after all.

Isaiah's certainty made Rose chuckle. "It's good to have that attitude, isn't it? And of course I'll never tell. We don't want to hurt anyone's ego." She smiled. "Exactly, that's why I offered. Not that I know a lot about relationships..." Or anything, truth be told, but it wouldn't be told unless he asked - because Rose usually didn't know how to lie properly. "But I hope at least talking about it will help you get some weight off your chest." Rose nodded.

The food choice was easy. She loved seafood but didn't have it often, and since her birthday was only a few days away, Rose was saving it for then. And given how easy it was to make passable pasta sometimes, she had that a lot too. "I like a lot of different food - mostly take out, if I'm honest - but I think I'm in the mood for steak!"

"He probably knows it's coming, but we'll let him keep thinking he's the best for a little while longer." Isaiah ran a hand over his hair as the subject changed, letting out a breath. "I don't necessarily need the advice, not yet. Still too fresh." He'd figure out how he actually felt about it later. Preferably after he'd had a lot of alcohol to go with it. "Still, wanted to let you know from the start that I appreciated it."

Isaiah made a face at her mention of take out. Maybe it was the were in him, maybe it was the fact that he was picky as hell when it came to who made his food, but he'd never be able to do that, ever. He'd be sick for a week if he ate like that. Leaning back in his seat, he flagged over one of the servers. His name was Randy, and he'd been working at the Nest for as long as Sai could remember. "Can you do me a favor? Put in an order of the hanger steak special for me. Cooked medium rare okay with you?" He looked over at Rose for confirmation.

With the server gone to put in their order, he glanced back at Rose. "So... where should I begin?"

With a nod, Rose smiled again. "Good, because I have no advice to offer. I don't really...know what's like to be in a relationship." Her voice dwindled down and filled with embarrassment as the words came out, because it wasn't that common for a twenty-four year-old in this day and age to have as little experience as she did. Rose wasn't exactly embarrassed, not in a way that she thought of it as a disability of some kind, but she had to admit it was a handicap sometimes. "But still, you know, you pick up stuff here and there from fiction, I suppose." She recovered quickly, running a nervous hand through her own hair.

Snickering at Isaiah's face about the take-out, Rose raised one eyebrow. "Not a fan of take-out? It's not that bad, actually. Of course a home cooked meal is better, but I don't always have the time...or the expertise." She concluded, smiling pleasantly. With a nod, Rose let Isaiah know medium rare was just fine, and when the server left, she took a deep breath. "Well...Start at the beginning." She suggested. "Good place as any to start, right?"

Isaiah might be one of the few people who could actually sympathize with Rose's situation. Granted, he'd been in relationships, but his nature as a falcon meant that there was always another level to it that he'd never been able to commit to. His father had found his mate when he was 16; Isaiah was 23 and at some point he was going to start to wonder what the hell he was waiting for. "But you have common sense, and you know what feels right to you," he said, not wanting her to feel embarrassed at all about it. "Sometimes that makes up for whatever experiences might be missing."

He shook his head, "I'm kind of picky about my food, in case you couldn't tell. I prefer to make it myself if I can, and I only trust a few people to cook for me." It made sense, to anyone who knew him well. Isaiah looked down at his food for a moment, moving it around on the plate. "Her name is Raina," he said. "We hadn't been together that long, a month? Maybe?" Was it longer than that? Isaiah had never been good at dates. "She's a kindergarten teacher, actually taught my little sister last year. And she's a foodie, that was how we met, talking about food at Whole Foods." And she's an earth elemental and she knew what I am, too.

Although Rose wasn't so sure what Isaiah had said was actually true, in practical terms, she still appreciated him saying so. Smiling, she nodded, but didn't say anything in response, preferring to wait for him to say whatever he needed to say in regards to his ill-fated relationship. It was why she was here after all. Of course the food talk distracted her a little, as she had to agree with him. "I completely understand, it makes a lot of sense." Rose just wasn't that picky, thankfully. Sometimes she really did not feel like cooking at all, but eating wasn't something she really could skip. Even if a fruit salad made the cut at times.

Finally she went silent as Isaiah began his story about his ex-girlfriend and whatever had happened there. She leaned further into the table, paying full attention to his words, nodding here and there. "She sounds lovely so far..." Rose commented timidly.

He didn't need Rose to say anything, the fact that she was listening was, in truth, a godsend. He knew that, once he told Graham and everyone what happened, they'd either trash talk Raina into the ground or they'd offer their condolences. Isaiah wasn't really ready for either. Give him a few days, and he'd be fine, he just needed to process this and figure out how he actually felt about it. Getting things off his chest would help.

For now, he reached over for his glass, swirling what liquid remained in it absentmindedly. "She was," he said, "I mean, she is. It's not like she's dead or anything." Because that? Would have destroyed him, mate or not. "We clicked, on a lot of levels, and that hadn't happened in a while. It wasn't even that we were moving too fast, we were moving at the right place. I knew I didn't want anyone else, and I didn't think she did either. And with all the bullshit in town, the demons, the vampires... I thought we'd gone through a lot together. I thought it counted for something."

Some people only ever pretended to listen, especially to cute strangers they had met in restaurants, but not Rose. She was actually interested, and willing to help in any way she could; even if just, like she'd said, to be a sound-box. She listened to Isaiah carefully, nodding here and there, though she had to wonder what had happened to make such a couple, who seemed made for each other in a lot of ways, end their relationship. It saddened her, even if she didn't know what it felt like to have a relationship. "So..." Rose swallowed hard, lowering her gaze away from Isaiah. It was a hard thing to ask, after all, and blatantly so, at that. "What...What happened?" She finally asked, looking up at him again.

The fact that she was actually listening did make it better. If he wanted to hear someone outright smack talk about Raina, he could've tracked down his sister, who knew would be less than thrilled to find out someone else had tried to break his heart. Lizzy was a quiet girl, yes, but opinionated when it mattered. Sai couldn't avoid the million dollar question forever, though, and before answering, he took another long swallow of his drink. "I wish I knew," he said. "She called me earlier today to say she was leaving. Something about taking care of her mentor out in Washington state and she had to leave right away. That she was leaving me, too." Logically, he knew it wasn't healthy to wait for Raina forever when he didn't know when she'd be back. In the moment, it still made him feel like shit, that he wasn't worth holding out for.

It was very hard for Rose, as a rule, to keep her emotions from showing up on her face as she felt them; this time was no different. Once again her inexperience with relationships left her in doubt as to whether or not she was right in perceiving Isaiah's situation the was she was doing, but Rose's gut feeling was that this was all very strange. "Out of the blue?" Rose's face was unmistakably laced with shock, her brow knitted and mouth agape as though nothing in Isaiah's girlfriend's decision made sense. Which, to Rose, it didn't.

She looked away, digesting what Isaiah had told her. You would think - or at least Rose did - that having to leave for an emergency would not have anything to do with ending a relationship. That someone with such a good relationship, even if recent, would want to talk about things before making such a rash decision. People usually did not like long-distance relationships, as far as she could tell, but that did not mean that someone had to leave the other when she had to leave the state. Rose looked back at Isaiah and sighed. "I'm so sorry..." She murmured. She really did feel sorry for him, which might make him feel bad, but Rose assumed having this thrown on him out of the blue had to have hurt him deeply. Rose couldn't help but feel horribly on his behalf.

"I thought...Like I said, I don't know much about relationships, but I thought people talked these things out first. Even if they had to leave for a long while. There are phones, e-mail, all those things I thought you needn't make such a harsh decision like that out of the blue." She blurted out. After all, this had turned out to be an exercise in understanding something she had never experienced as well. Even if Isaiah's well being came first.

"Out of the blue." He imagined his face must have looked like Rose's did right now, the moment he'd gotten that phone call. Granted, he'd stepped off the line in that moment and headed out back into the office so he'd have some privacy, so no one else in the Owl's Nest heard the actual conversation. Which was a good thing, because his change in romantic status was going to fly through this place faster than if he'd changed it on Facebook. All his father had to do was take one look at him to know that, whatever Raina had said in her phone call, it wasn't good. It couldn't be good.

He didn't expect Rose to have an answer for him, because there really wasn't one. He didn't need her to say she was sorry either, but he did appreciate it. So he gave her a nod, tried to smile and didn't quite get that far. "It's - it's okay. It's done now." After all, Rose didn't know him beyond this one meal they were sharing, but it was good that she was still here. "And that's what I thought too. I mean, I know things come up. Life's like that and there's a certain amount of give and take that goes with it. Otherwise it's not a relationship, it's just - one person hurting another. Intentionally or not."

Then it hit him: Raina was an earth elemental. Maybe it really was all or nothing with her, and he just didn't know it. He'd have to ask Bradley about that at some point. He couldn't deny his nature; he didn't expect Raina to deny hers, either.

Never one to judge someone harshly without hearing their side of the story, Rose wasn't going to deem Isaiah's ex-girlfriend a complete bitch, or anything of the sort. Not to him, and not to herself. But Rose saw in his face that she had hurt him a lot, and it was all she could do not to shake her head. People did things that were hard to comprehend all the time, she knew that. But the fact that it happened often didn't make it any easier to swallow.

With a sigh, she reached across the table to rub Isaiah's arm for a second. "Still, you know. I'm really sorry you've been hurt like that. You don't seem like you deserved it at all."

The thing was, Isaiah didn't see Raina as a complete bitch. Logically, he knew all her reasons for going, but that didn't mean he had to be like them, or be happy with the outcome. Truth be told, it would be easier just to blindly hate her, but Isaiah wasn't that kind of guy. Being rational sucked, especially in this situation, and he wondered if Raina was hurting, too. He figured she was - not out of his own anger, wanting to get back at her somehow, but that the Raina he thought he knew would've been hurt.

He reached over to lay a hand over Rose's on his arm. "Thanks," he said, and he meant it. "I mean - I know it's not me. Sometimes things just happen. Maybe there's a reason for it, maybe there isn't. Time will tell, right?" Hey, at least Sai was attempting to be optimistic.

It was good, in Rose's perspective, that Isaiah didn't seem angry or at all ready to blame everything solely on the girlfriend who left. That was easy to do, however, and she wouldn't blame him if he did. But usually being that angry only made everything worse, didn't it? Anger lead nowhere good. And no, she hadn't needed Yoda to teach her that.

Smiling, Rose squeezed Isaiah's arm a while longer before pulling it away. "Maybe you're meant for something better, who knows?" Optimism. She could work with that, and it made things a lot easier, unlike anger. "I don't know if I believe that things happen for a reason all the time, but maybe this did." She shrugged, still smiling. Hopefully he would find someone who would never leave. He looked to deserve it.

He could be angry later, if he really wanted to do so. Right now he was with a very nice girl who was doing him the favor of just listening, and that was a big thing for him. He didn't want to keep being a downer and talking about himself when, prior to this conversation, they'd been strangers. All he really knew about Rose was that she was friendly, nice and had never really had her own relationship. Which was a pity, and something he couldn't really wrap his head around quite yet.

"Here's hoping, right?" Fate could be a bitch, this was true, but Isaiah had hope for the future. Unfortunately it was also one of those things you just had to wait and see about, you couldn't find out right away what was going to happen. Seeing one of the waitresses approaching, Isaiah sat up in his seat. "Your food's here," he said, gesturing to the plate being set in front of her. "Let me know what you think of it."

Seeing as Rose didn't really think she had anything that interesting to tell about herself, she would be all too happy to keep listening to Isaiah venting, or just talking. She wasn't used to having anything interesting to talk about, truth be told, at least not interesting to anyone else, which meant she listened a lot more. And she was happy to.

Nodding, Rose gave Isaiah a sweet smile. "I believe you deserve it, even if I don't know you for more than fifteen minutes." And she did. He seemed very sweet and undeserving of having his heart broken. So, all Rose could do was hope that Isaiah found love somewhere else; love that wouldn't leave. She looked over to the waitress just in time to see her setting Rose's plate in front of her. Thanking the waitress, Rose looked back at her food, which smelled divine. "Well if it tastes as good as it smells..." She said, before tasting the food.

It was marvelous. The best steak she had ever had; still Rose wouldn't tell Isaiah she had never really tasted that many steaks made by that many different people. It didn't take from the wonderfulness of this one. "Oh," She started, swallowing the rest of her food before continuing to speak. "It's amazing. So good. I wish I could cook like this!"

Isaiah had the good grace to smile a little at that. Even if Rose was the kind of person who believed the best in everyone, it was still nice to hear that, on top of everything else. "I appreciate that, thanks." It wasn't that he didn't believe he was a good guy, he knew he was, as cocky as that sounded. Eventually, karma came back around for everyone, himself included. Maybe it was just taking a little more time than he would like, and he'd do his best to be patient.

With only a few bites of his own food left, Isaiah sat back, sipping at his drink as he watched Rose take her first bite. He didn't doubt the food was awesome, his father was still here and he knew where Josiah had been on the line that night. That steak came straight from his old man, the one who had taught Isaiah everything he knew. This was the kind of meal Josiah Williamson didn't screw up, ever. At the look on her face, Isaiah was legit grinning. "It's awesome, isn't it?" he said. "I'm glad you like it." No wonder why Isaiah never ate out anywhere else when he'd been raised on food like that.

"No need to thank me, I'm not just saying that." She smiled back. It wasn't like she knew how to read people, and considering how little she socialized, Rose would probably never be able to read even the most obvious signals in someone, but she liked to believe in the best in people. Being permanently suspicious or guarded never helped. At least Rose didn't think so.

Nodding while she ate, Rose waited until her food was down before speaking again. "If you're half this good you're already the best! I'm making this my regular spot for food, I swear." It really was that good.

Isaiah couldn't necessarily call himself good at reading people either, if only because he mostly relied on his were senses to do the work for him. He wasn't a wolf, but he could definitely hear a heartbeat pick up or if someone's breathing changed and respond accordingly. "Still appreciate it, though," he told her, finishing off his glass. Another one would be a bad idea right now, if only because he still had to ride himself home, as he sure as hell was not waiting until the end of the night to bum a ride off of someone. Hell no, Isaiah was way too independent for that, and he didn't like the idea of leaving his motorcycle anywhere he didn't have to.

He chuckled, watching her wolf down food. That was the sign of a meal cooked right, when someone ate without talking, just inhaling the food. Well, Isaiah tended to do that anyway, but that was besides the point. "I'm biased, I think this should be your regular spot anyway," he shot back. "Learned everything I know from my dad, and my uncle." Who wasn't actually his uncle, but close enough.
