No rest for the mind that's seen it all before
Who: Laurent and Locke
Where: Outside Lenore's Bookstore and Cafe
When: Evening
Why the hell did Locke have to work the closing shift that night? Sure, his boss was cool enough to close before the curfew was in order, but now that left him outside of the shop... in the dark... in the rain... with the vampires. Ok, so there weren't vampires lurking around every corner, but it was nerve wracking for the poor phoenix. All he wanted to do was go home and curl up in his bed and go to bed. Was that too much to ask for? Apparently. His parents were out for the night and were running late with picking him up. "Figures..." If shifting wasn't so complicated, he would have turned into his bird form and flown home, though the rain and the fact he'd lose his clothes made him do otherwise.
Letting out a sigh, he huddled underneath one of the only spots by the cafe to keep himself dry, wrapping his arms around his body while he stood there. While he was used to being alone, he didn't like being alone like this. He was defenseless right now. True, he could break out some serious flames if he had to to protect himself, but a 16-year-old couldn't pass for a master fire elemental. Unless it was a dumb ass vampire or some naive human, people would notice. Yeah, no thanks. He didn't want that attention. And as he continued to stand there in silence, he watched several cars go on by, praying one of them was his parents. So far, no luck... though one car was ever-so generous enough to splash in the nearby puddle, splashing Locke and soaking him completely.
He stood there, blinking, then looked over his drenched clothes and heaved out an irritated breath. Really now, he should have just called out sick for work tonight. Everything sucked right now.
