To protect her. Liliya sighed with breath she did not need, her eyes annoyed when Naoki looked up at her. Why was he forever doing things like this? Pushing himself too far to get things done or bringing her things she did not need or want. It was like he tried to appease her and keep her safe and she did not truly need his help. So she thought, because in all honesty things like this were a lot more valuable than she knew. Having strong protective wards around was something that she had become as used to as the blood that she drank and to think that one day they might not be there was baffling and just unthinkable. They existed because Naoki was there, where he belonged and doing what he needed to do. Although the touching of her face caused a slight flinch.
"Of course I'm okay," she snapped. But he was not. He was exhausted from doing the spell and she could not just let him lay out here in the rain. WIth another sigh, Liliya carefully helped Naoki to his feet and then just picked him up. He was only a human, not all that heavy to her even if he was dead weight, so the vampire hardly blinked at carrying him into the house and onto one of the couches. When he was looking at her again she signed, 'What do you need to get better? I've forgotten how these human things work and I'll not just have you weak and exhausted.' How would that look if the media found out? The vampire shuddered just at the thought of all the possible headlines that could come from something like that. None of them were encouraging.
