With a witch like me and her wicked trance
Who: Kayla (K-lee) and Roxy
Where: Los Angeles, CA
When: Their high school years
Kayla was in a great mood. No, scratch that, she was absolutely ecstatic because their team had won the game! It wasn't like that was a rare occurrence or anything, they were really good, just that it was especially sweet today because she'd had her best game all season. She knew the reason for it too. And that reason was flouncing right ahead of her into the locker room, chattering happily about a play she'd made while throwing quick glances over her shoulder that Kayla returned. As proud as she was of her field hockey game the girl was even prouder of what she'd accomplished with Roxy.
She'd known about her best friends crush on her for oh... she didn't even know how long, awhile now. But acting on it and presenting her with a challenge that Roxy had gone and met? Kayla'd needed to drag it out because otherwise there wouldn't have been any fun to it. And now it was even more fun because Roxy was utterly terrified of anyone finding out and Kayla didn't care one way or the other. Maybe she'd expose the secret one day if it was the best way to end it, but that'd be awhile in the making. Because dating Roxy was fun and Kayla was looking forward to seeing how far she could push the younger girl's limits.
"Nah, go on ahead to the showers without me," Kayla told Courtney. "I'm going to cool down a bit before I hop down." She sunk down onto the bench in front of her locker and stretched out with a happy groan, muscles content after the extreme workout of first the game and then the necessary cool down, eyes closed.
Winning the game was just exhilarating for the young were-penguin. The ambitious side of her was always determined to win, and whenever she did the whole damn world knew. It wasn't like she tried to brag or anything, but after that match up she couldn't help herself. There were many fists pumps along with "FUCK YEAH!"s going on after the game from Roxy. Field hockey was such a passion for her and she was happy to be on top of her game.
Once everyone cleared the field and headed to the locker rooms, Roxy lagged behind, mainly to touch up on her hair. Yes, it was about to get washed in five minutes, but being the picky penguin, she had to straighten it out. Not to mention she had just redyed it electric blue - yes, electric blue - the other day. She even threw in a couple small streak of purple in the front to make her hair pop out. Had to be expressive some way or another. Once she was done fussing with said hair, she bounced on over to the locker rooms, spotting Kayla on the bench.
"Hey you!" Roxy shuffled on over to her, raising up a hand for a high five. "Kicked some ass out there! Awesome stuff!" She was still riding on the adrenaline rush from winning and it showed. Then again, it was hard to tell if her face was slightly red from all the excitement and running around or the fact she was finally alone with Kayla. How long had it been since they decided to be more than friends? Oh whatever, it didn't matter. Roxy had her and she was on cloudnine because of it.
Kayla grinned up at Roxy; it was really weird to be looking up at her because Roxy was definitely the shorter one, and raised her hand for the high five. "Oh yeah, that game'll be remembered forever!" Probably not, but it sounded good and Kayla was pretty sure she'd remember it at any rate. Even if she'd snuck in a spell or two to make herself luckier, nothing was wrong with that in her mind. Her mom always encouraged her to use magic to help her out. Born right and all that. Kayla didn't care, she loved knowing that she had benefits other girls didn't.
She also had something way better standing right in front of her because really, the game with Roxy was way more exhilarating than a few rounds of field hockey. "I'm waiting until everyone else is done before the showers, if they leave any hot water." Rolling her eyes at the thought, Kayla propped herself up on her elbows and smiled. "My hair's all messy right now though... you could fix it for me." Knowing Roxy for as long as she had definitely gave her insights into the blue-haired girl's little quirks. Fixing her friends hair was definitely one of them and Kayla loved exploiting it every time she turned around. Even better if it flustered her a bit now because, well, they were dating and Kayla could enjoy it on a whole other level.
"Oh my god, can I?!" Before Kayla could even begin to answer, Roxy had dropped her belongings and zoomed on behind the girl to pounce at her hair. The inner penguin in her was always wanting to groom people, which seemed to annoy most, but she was happy Kayla appreciated it. Roxy could never say no to some good hair styling. Her mother was convinced she was going to be a hair stylist when she graduated. That or some gossip show on television, seeing that she was far more concerned about her looks and her social life than she was with her grades. Oh, and sports. Couldn't forget that.
"Your hair is like, soooooo pretty, Kayla! The color's natural, right?" She couldn't remember if Kayla said it was dyed or not, but either way it was gorgeous. Roxy ran her fingers through her tresses evenly, ridding her hair of any knots that were in it. Definitely a bit sweaty, but Roxy wasn't one to talk. Even when she had it completely tangle free and smooth, she kept running her fingers through it just because she could. Mmmm, pretty hair was pretty.
Kayla didn't even have to respond, Roxy was on her hair before she drew in another breath just like she'd expected. And it felt so nice to have all of the tangles pulled out after the game, Roxy's fingers were definitely better at it than any brush. "Mmm, one hundred percent natural," Kayla responded. Everything about her was completely natural and always would be. She didn't care how big cosmetic surgery was becoming she'd never let anyone try to 'fix her face'. Ugh, that'd imply she was less than perfect! Sooo not even close to the truth.
"You should do that more often," Kayla informed Roxy, eyes shut. Having her hair played with was definitely up at the top of her list for enjoyable activities, doubled up because it was completely acceptable no matter where they were. That particular list wasn't very long. "Like after we get out of the shower!" The other girls had been filtering by slowly, all chatting about their plans for the night and waving good-bye, used to things like this because Roxy was that big on fixing hair no matter whose head it was on. Her eyes fluttered open and she grinned. "Still taking me out to dinner tonight? I'm soooo in the mood for some good sushi."
Roxy only pulled herself away from Kayla's hair when the others waved in their direction. She flashed a smile in their direction then went right back to playing with the lovely hair before her. She couldn't help but be jealous that her hair was so perfect in a natural state like that. Roxy was never happy with how she looked, thus why she dyed her hair black. The natural brown just looked... weird. Completely black with sections of color suited her far better in her mind.
"Of course we're still doing sushi! I found this one place that's in Santa Monica with an ocean view. My mom told me about it, so we are totally going there. Dad is even letting me borrow the car, too!" Could never go wrong with a BMW. That just never went out of style. Granted she had to cling onto his leg and be dragged out the door as he tried to head on out for work just to get him to say yes... but hey, he said yes! "So how do you want your hair for the night? I can like, do it after we wash up and stuff!"
"Ooohh, got your dad's car, very nice." Really, was there anything Roxy wouldn't do if she asked her? Kayla had yet to be told no by the other girl and she soaked it up like a flower. If she kept up with being this attentive then it was going to be quite awhile before there was any need to ruin it. Just enjoy the game, she plays so well. Wasn't fair that Roxy didn't know she was playing but that was all part of the fun so far as Kayla was concerned. "And hmmm... however you like it best, Roxy, I like looking pretty for you." Her smile was different when she reached back to gently untangle Roxy's fingers from her hair and sat up. The coach had just left, calling at them to lock up when they were done so it was definitely time for a shower.
Giggling, Kayla wrinkled her nose as she stood and stepped out of her sweaty uniform on her way to the showers. "Definitely need to get clean first, ugh, I love playing but I hate the way we smell when we're done." She'd have rather had her shower back at home with all her soaps and lotions, but those little travel bottles had been invented for a reason.
Roxy was also hoping to shower back at home with all of her shampoos and soaps, but that was why she had two duffel bags - one for equipment and one for beauty products. And she saw nothing wrong with this. Following Kayla to the showers, she also stripped herself of her uniform, wearing only her sports bra and panties. "You and me both, grosses me out! Doesn't bother me when we're like, in the middle of playing, but after that I just want to wash the yuck off of me." Searching through her bag, she grabbed needed bottles for the shower along with a big blue luffa for washing up. Yeah, she was high-maintenance when it came to cleaning, but Roxy needed to look perfect.
"I could curl your hair. Like, in big curlers so you can get those big, bouncy, loose curls or something," she suggested to Kayla as she slipped into the showers, dropping her items in order to strip off the rest of her clothing. With that done she could finally turn on the water and get squeaky clean.
Tilting her head, Kayla let out a whistle and poked at Roxy's side as she stepped up to the shower beside her, sighing at the feel of water against her skin. Mmmm, clean. "You've got more things to clean with than I do!" Kayla teased. She was so used to being in the shower next to Roxy that she didn't start out staring, that hadn't been her intention at all, she really wanted to get the sweat and dirt off, but once she'd finished with her hair it was really hard to focus. Part of the reason Roxy had been such a prize was definitely that body. And Kayla had absolutely no shame about it.
"Big bouncy curls huh?" she asked, reaching for her soap and thoroughly distracted. She was a teenager and that most definitely was her girlfriend in the shower next to her. "Those should look really nice... how about your hair? I know you've probably got a million different ideas because it's you and it's hair... or you've just got one. All straight and slick, right?" Roxy seemed inordinately fond of her hair straight, which Kayla didn't get at all.
True, Roxy was rather intent on cleaning herself up, especially after a game like that, but with Kayla next to her in the shower completely nude... well, it was hard not to look. For the most part Roxy tried to be off by herself in the shower when the rest of the team was there, not wanting to come off as awkward, but that wasn't the case now. She blushed gently when she spotted Kayla looking on over to her, which caused the blue-haired girl to giggle in order to ease her nervousness.
"You're more than welcome to use them if you want to, you know." Roxy offered up the products to Kayla. She didn't mind seeing that, hello! It was Kayla! Why wouldn't she offer? That would make Roxy quite the horrible girlfriend. "And I don't know what I'll do with my hair. I prefer it straight and all, but it's just a matter if I want it up or down or in a bun or pin my bangs to the side or... ugh! So many choices!" She looked on over to Kayla while she lathered up her hair. "What do you think?"
"I think that you'll look gorgeous no matter which way you wear it," Kayla responded as she glanced through the products that Roxy had. She really needed to mimic bringing in a second bag just for things like this, though then it'd take almost an hour to get done after she hopped out... "But I like it better down, with the blue really showing." As she straightened, Kayla smiled at her, reaching up to tug at one of the soapy blue pieces. That wasn't anything new, she'd toyed with Roxy's colored hair ever since she knew her, but it was different. That was why looking at Roxy in the shower probably wasn't her most brilliant idea, though she did like making her blush.
"Hmmmm," Kayla wondered. "Have I kissed you yet today? Because I don't think I have and that's really got to be illegal to go without kissing your girlfriend for a whole day." Besides, Roxy had really kissable lips and it totally wasn't Kayla's fault that she'd been attracted to her. "Now that you're not all sweaty I mean." Ew, kissing right after a game? Totally never happening unless she got jumped, but hey, there was still adrenaline pumping and they were alone.
A soft giggle escaped from Roxy when Kayla tugged at her hair. She was glad someone liked it. Her poor mom almost fainted after seeing that her oldest daughter had dyed it again. Even tried to convince her to dye it one color just to be a good example for her younger sisters. Seeing that Roxy was just as stubborn as her mom, it wasn't going to happen anytime soon. At least it was as bad as the time she got both her lip and navel pierced.
"Bwa?" Roxy fluttered her eyes, halfway through washing out the shampoo when Kayla question about them kissing at all that day. "I don't think we have, I mean... had lame classes then the game, so... no...?" Definitely not the right answer, though the way Kayla was putting that lovely seductive twist to it made it sound so much more tempting. For a second, Roxy's eyes flickered about the shower, making sure they were alone. Of course they were, but she didn't want any chances. If word ever got around that she was a lesbian, she would collapse into nothing. Looking back to Kayla, she smiled softly while arching a brow. "We should totally change that."
Kayla knew exactly why Roxy's eyes darted like that, she needed to make sure they were alone. Didn't much matter to her whether or not anyone knew but she wasn't going to go around flaunting it when it'd end with her having no girlfriend. That'd definitely ruin everything. "Gonna change it right now," Kayla informed Roxy, not even caring that the other girl's hair was still sudsy, there was water right there. Smiling, she stepped over into Roxy's space and leaned down to kiss her, hands cupping her face. Gentle was so not her preferred sort of kiss but she could handle starting it that way. It was when she got Roxy pressed up against a wall that soft became pretty much impossible, that girl was way too good at squirming to make full contact these days.
"Well there," Kayla giggled when she pulled back, shaking the water out of her eyes. "Doesn't that make winning sooo much better?" Had they lost she probably would have packed up and gone home, forget about the date. Losing was one of those things Kayla didn't handle well.
Upon feeling Kayla's lips against her own, Roxy couldn't help but moan for her. Such an amazing kisser she was, and Roxy was always wanting more when Kayla finally pulled away. A chill shot down her body as she experienced the kiss, tingling and yearning for more when Kayla finally stopped. Such the tease. Maybe they could do more than just kiss after dinner.
"Totally makes winning better!" Roxy smirked slightly, liking the concept of winning both the game and a kiss from such a drop dead gorgeous girl. Besides, Roxy was the type of girl who always got her way. She was competitive and ambitious at heart, not to mention stubborn. If she didn't get what she wanted, then shit was about to get real. "You did an awesome job out there, too, you know. Love playing with you." She blushed at the thought of her last comment, knowing that she enjoyed playing more than just on the field.
Reading body language was something Kayla prided herself on and Roxy's practically screamed that she hadn't given her enough. While most people would probably do something like that with the thought of leaving them wanting more, Kayla did it on the principle that it needed to be proven that she deserved more. A successful dinner date would do that. Or more comments like that last one.
"Of course you do," Kayla practically purred as she turned her shower off. "I'm just that good." Smirking over her shoulder, the girl walked out to get dressed, leaving Roxy to finish up. She'd have liked staying to watch but then she'd be the one having problems keeping her hands off and that just wouldn't work. She'll be playing with my hair soon enough anyhow, Kayla assured herself as she diligently applied the lotion that she always kept in her locker. Wouldn't do for her skin to not be as soft as always. Once that was finished she went about the rather involved process of getting dressed. Clothes were actually the easy part since she'd picked them out before, it was everything else that took up time and needed to be perfect because hello, she was going out into public. Kayla didn't do less than perfect.
A small pout formed on Roxy's lips as Kayla left the showers, but it only encouraged her to wash up faster so she could meet up with the lovely girl. Finally clean, Roxy slipped on out with a towel clinging to her form as she found Kayla getting dressed. And she looked amazing, as always. "That color is so pretty on you, Kayla!" She smiled towards her while drying off her skin to apply lotion to it as well. Roxy was glad that they were both high maintenance when it came to looks so they could spend forever getting ready together. With her skin fully soaking in lotion, she tossed on something clean before wrapping her hair up in a towel to speed up the drying. "Alrighty, let's do this!"
With that said, she took out her blow dryer to plug in along with some other hair products. Mainly cremes to help moisturize Kayla's hair along with protecting it from heat, such as the blow dryer. Once they were applied she quickly dried her hair with the blow dryer, making sure it was ready for some big ass curls. With that done, Roxy rummaged through the duffel bag to pull out a massive curling iron, which probably had the biggest barrel on the west coast. Roxy had bought it strictly to play with Kayla's hair, because why not? Spritzing some protective spray over a section, Roxy went to town on her hair. "You're going to look so gorgeous when this is all done, I'm so excited!"
"Mmm, brings out the green in my eyes. I like that necklace of yours. It's cute," Kayla remarked as she finished with her lip gloss as Roxy pulled out a bunch of products for her hair. She couldn't lie, she absolutely loved having someone to play with her hair. Made it that much easier for her and besides, Roxy was good at it. Sitting up straight she relaxed so that Roxy could do what she wanted. "Not that I don't always look gorgeous, but I'm sure I'll be absolutely stunning, right? Have the waiter tripping over his own jaw again." Giggling at the mental image, Kayla watched as the style took place. Definitely better than having to do it myself.
"Love it!" she beamed when Roxy was done, hopping up in front of the mirror to touch at it and shake the curls around. Yep, she looked good, no lying, and Roxy would too if she ever got that towel out of her hair. "Now you just need to get ready." She slipped back onto the bench in front of Roxy, pouting her very best as she traced her fingers along the hem of her shirt. "I'm hungry, Roxy." Sushi sounded remarkably good still, not to mention after. And if she wanted it then Roxy'd get it for her, one of the reasons they were dating was the blue-haired girl's eagerness to please.
"Love it on you, girl." Roxy gave Kayla a playful wink as she went to go unravel her hair out from the towel and then dry it straight. She preferred it on herself, though loved curling other people's hair, like Kayla's. Looked so much better on her. Once that was done, some smokey eyes and lip gloss were in order, and then Roxy was set. "Alrighty, let's get this show on the road!" Roxy packed the last of her belongings into the duffel bags and began to head on out, holding the doors open for Kayla.
"The car is out in the front. We can toss our stuff in the back and go straight for some sushi. Sound like a plan?" She was sure that it wouldn't be a problem for Kayla, especially when she announced how hungry she was. Roxy aimed to please, that was for sure, and she was willing to do anything to keep Kayla by her side.
As she waited for Roxy to finish, Kayla stretched back out on the bench, alternating between looking up at the ceiling and over at her girlfriend. Then, finally, she was ready and Kayla bounced to her feet. "Fiiiinally," she sighed, though she was smiling as she picked up her bag and breezed out the door Roxy had held open for her. "And yes, totally, straight for sushi." Knowing which car was the one Roxy'd gotten, Kayla tossed her stuff in the back and slid into the passenger's seat, fiddling a little with her hair.
"Now don't get us pulled over just because you've got a need for speed," Kayla teased. "You getting grounded is the last thing I need." Even if getting there fast was definitely high on her list of priorities. Before her stomach started telling her how much of an appetite the game'd worked up.
"Oh puh-LEAZE, I'm not going to drive that fast, Kayla! Only when there's a prize involved." She shot the girl a quick wink before jumping into the driver's side and started the car up. Oh, how she loved her father's car. It ran like silk and purred like a kitten. Roxy was still getting used to driving, though at the rate she was going at she would master the fine art in no time. Turning on the CD player to play some rock, Roxy eased back into her seat and drove on off. Normally she would let Kayla do whatever she wanted, but ground rules were whoever was driving got to pick the tunes, and seeing that Roxy was quite the stubborn penguin, there was no changing the music on her.
"So this place is apparently called like, Sushi Roku and is right on Ocean Ave. Mom told me she goes there now and then when they have company dinners and stuff. She even placed in a reservation for the two of us because she said it gets like, totally crammed on a night like this. So we should be set, girl!" Roxy took her eyes off of the road for several seconds to flash Kayla a confident smile. This was going to be a perfect night and she wasn't letting anything fuck it up. God forbid if their table wasn't ready or else Roxy would invent a new way to use chopsticks, and it wouldn't be for eating.
Kayla grinned at Roxy's statement, thinking back on that first race she'd won with herself as the prize. Naturally she was worth things like that which could end sooo badly for the drivers. Though Roxy knew that getting caught wouldn't make it fun anymore. Kayla couldn't go out with someone who was grounded and she'd known Roxy's mom for long enough to know that grounded was bad. Almost as bad as having to listen to Roxy's music sometimes... but she'd gotten used to that and didn't even reach for the knob. Very few boundaries were drawn but she'd learned quite quickly that one of them was changing the music.
"That's awesome of her to get us a reservation," Kayla remarked, watching things zoom by outside of the window. She knew that Linda wouldn't have been near as accommodating if she'd known that she was providing for an actual date and not just two girls going out to celebrate a victory. "And I've heard of that place, my dad likes it so it'd better be as good as claimed." Not that she doubted it would be. Roxy had a fiery temper and if there table wasn't ready... that'd be fun to see. Kayla was just looking forward to a good meal with Roxy, knowing that it'd all be exactly what she wanted. She didn't even need a spell to make it that way. Though it could be... nah, not right now. "Already know what I want," the girl announced, retouching her lip gloss. "So if you take forever to decide I'm putting my ice down your shirt. Just so you know." One corner of her mouth tugged up in a devilish smirk. She'd been witness to ice-fights at the Diaz household before.
"Heeeeey! No ice down my shirt!" Roxy teased right back, finding herself to be blushing a tad bit more than normal at that comment. While she loved the cold feeling of ice on her skin, she preferred it with her shirt off. No reason to ruin a perfectly good shirt. "I won't take like, forever, ok? Promise!" Coming up to a red light, Roxy took advantage of the short time to glance at herself in the mirror and readjust her hair. Another coat of mascara seemed to be needed, but by the time she reached for her bag, the light flashed to green and she roared on off.
"So what are you thinking of getting? I mean, obviously sushi, right? We're going to a sushi bar, might as well! Though I didn't know if you wanted like, a massive platter of different stuff or different specialty rolls or something. Either way, I'm totally game for anything. I love seafood." That was putting it lightly. Seafood was only the staple ingredient in almost all Chilean meals and it helped that her inner penguin adored seafood.
Kayla grinned. "But it'd be so much fun..." She let her voice trail off as she glanced over at Roxy. One thing she had to give the other girl, she was fun to watch drive, especially if she tried fixing something at a red light. "Specialty roll platter. If I ever go to a sushi bar and think that I can get something other than sushi than please, just make sure I'm never allowed to think for myself again because something must be broken." No Cali girl worth her oxygen would do something like that.
"Are we there yet?" Kayla couldn't help but say it as they pulled into what was obviously the place, smirking as she observed herself in the mirror to make sure everything was still perfect. She wasn't as bad as Roxy when it came to her hair, or the constant grooming for that matter, but Kayla always needed to look her best. Only exception was when she was playing field hockey and that was because no one cared what they looked like out there. "Come on, pretty girl, i'm starving." The way Kayla said it held two meanings, the second one even clearer when she looked Roxy over. No rule said she needed to behave herself.
"You, gorgeous, can have whatever you want. No worries, there!" While she didn't have a job, Roxy was thankful to get some cash from her parents for the night. She hopped that a hundred dollars was enough for dinner and maybe a little fun after that. Maybe they could hit up the pier and play some of the games or something. It didn't matter to Roxy, just as long as she was with Kayla. "And we're almost there. Just another minute or so." And that was the truth. A minute later they pulled up a block away from the stylish sushi restaurant. Roxy was then able to dive into her bag to reapply some mascara - FINALLY - and then messed with her hair again before slipping out of the car. "Ta-da! Here we are! This is a perfect victory dinner place, don't you think, Kayla?"
Whatever she wanted and getting called gorgeous in the same breath, Roxy was definitely earning bonus points for things like that. And that's why I picked her. She'd do anything to keep Kayla happy and that was just perfect. "Oh yeah, so beats the pizza or whatever all the other girls are grabbing." Kayla rolled her eyes just at the thought as they walked towards the place. Just the thought of stuffing her face with pizza was enough to make her shudder a little, that'd take forever to work off! Sushi was roughly a hundred times easier. "What about you?" Kayla asked Roxy, checking out the other cars that were gathered around the place and peering at how many people were inside. Oh yeah, she'd definitely have to be on her best behavior or Roxy'd freak and run away. "What're you getting?"
Pizza was good when there was a crap ton of people at hand that were all starving. Her family made weekly pizza nights just because it worked out for them, not to mention family bonding. Because, you know, Roxy needed more family bonding with her crazy, lovable family. As much as she loved them to death, she enjoyed time outside of the house and spending it with someone like Kayla. "Sushi beats out pizza any day, that's for sure!" Plus she was on the same wave length as Kayla with working off said pizza. Not that hard when she was an athlete, but Roxy didn't want to get fat!
"I don't know what I'm going to get," Roxy shrugged, holding the door open for Kayla as they entered. "Might do a big ol' combo plate with all different types of sushi and sashimi. You know, a little bit of everything. I'm always big on trying something new, too, so might order up a roll of something different." And with that said, she walked on right up to the hostess and flashed a bubbly smile. "Hey! We get a reservation for two. Name should be under... Diaz? Or Linda?" The hostess looked through the list briskly before nodding, then led the two to their booth. "Eeee! This is perfect! Love it! What do you think?"
Following along behind Roxy and the hostess, Kayla appreciated the sushi place. Yep, Roxy's mom had definitely done them a favor by getting a reservation here. Would've been better if she could treat it like a real date, but there was the fact that Roxy had driven and was paying... "It's very nice," Kayla agreed as she slid into the booth, going right for the menu. She hadn't been lying when she said that she was hungry, her stomach had actually given a growl when they arrived. Her eyes went straight to a combination plate with a multitude of different types of sushi rolls and she knew that was what she wanted. "Okay Roxy, you promised you wouldn't take forever and I know what I want..." Her face arranged itself into a pout as she realized that their waitress hadn't come up yet. "What looks good to you?"
Crap, that's right, I did say that, huh? Roxy was starting to regret her choice from earlier, for now that she was looking over the options at hand, she couldn't help but be indecisive. It was sushi, for christ sake! She lived for this stuff! "Uuuuummmmm... I'm going to geeeeet....theeeeeee....." Her eyes finally settled at two of the specialty rolls towards the bottom. "The Katana Roll and the Eel Avacado Roll. Oh! And some Miso Soup, too. Do you want an appetizer or anything? I'm cool with that if you want!" At the very least, the waitress had to hurry the fuck up because a certain blue-haired girl needed some iced tea STAT.
The way Roxy dragged her words out would've been cute if Kayla wasn't hungry. But she had decided and that was good enough. And of course she was cool with whatever Kayla wanted, that was why she was such a good choice for a girlfriend. "I'm good without appetizers, saves more room for the meal... and dessert," Kayla grinned, tucking a piece of hair behind her ear as the waitress came up to give her little spiel. "Yeah, I'll take the medium variety plate and miso soup does sound really good, that too. Oh, and Coke to drink." Kayla handed her menu over happily as Roxy ordered, already thinking of how good the food was going to taste. Now that food was out of the way she could focus on something else. "Oh my god, did you see their third-line defender? Didn't look like she knew what the hell she was doing."
Roxy quickly relayed to the waitress the same thing she had told Kayla a moment ago, along with the iced tea with extra ice cubes, and handed off the menu with a slight smile. When she brought her attention back to Kayla, she scoffed and rolled her eyes. If there was one thing Roxy loved, it was being gossipy, especially when it came to people she didn't even slightly know. Gossiping about friends was off limits, but this was fair game. "Oh my god, I KNOW! It was like she didn't even know which team she was playing for! People who don't know the game just shouldn't play, you know? Or like, they should and always be against us." Roxy giggled slightly. "Though I guess that'd take away some of the fun of the game a bit. I don't care, just as long as I can body check someone at some point." And she has quite the nasty one. Totally worth the penalty she received at the last game. No one fucked with her teammates, especially when they went after Kayla.
"Always on the other team," Kayla agreed with a grin, accepting her drink when the waitress returned with it and gulping nearly half the thing down right away. She'd been so in need of that caffeine and sugar after the game. "And never on ours or else it'd be tempting to just tell them straight up that they can't play and shouldn't be on the team." She would've had no problem doing that at all. Because seriously, she liked winning and losing because of someone who didn't know which end of the stick to hold? Not worth it by a long shot. "Mmm, okay, gotta admit that's one of my favorite parts of the game. Even if you've got more force behind yours than me. Don't know how you get all that power going but I'm surprised you haven't broken anything!" Sometimes it was almost like Roxy was stronger than she should have been, but Kayla didn't really care. She liked having a girlfriend who could lift her up... her eyes went distant for a moment, remembering something, and she brought herself back with a shake and a small smile. "Hell, love the whole game."
Of course she had more force than the other girls - Roxy was a were. She didn't have massive amounts of strength, seeing she was a penguin for christ's sake, but she did have more strength than a typical human girl had. That definitely had its advantages on the field, like completely taking out an opposing team member who was on her ass simply by stopping abruptly. Oh, that never got old. "Whole game is awesome. I don't know what I'd do without field hockey," Roxy commented before taking a massive swig of her iced tea, then began swirling her straw about to play with the ice and lemon in it. "I'm so happy I get to play with you! It's going to suck when you graduate and I don't have you to play with." Roxy pouted at the thought. "I mean, that's going to be here before you know it! Do you even know what you want to do when you graduate? I sure as hell don't."
Kayla didn't want to think about what life was going to be like when she didn't have field hockey to take out her stresses anymore. Maybe she'd have to find a community league or something after she graduated. Sure, college would have a team of there own, but there was no way she was going there. It'd be totally useless for someone like her. She didn't need a degree. "Oh really, why do you want to think about that?" Kayla asked. Graduating was not high on her list of things to think about ever, but especially not with someone she was dating who happened to be a year younger than her. Really. "But I think... I don't know, mom says she thinks I could get into modeling if I wanted. Maybe acting or something since I'm so good at it." Modest was so not Kayla's style and she felt no need to pretend. She knew when she was good at something. "Not feeling the whole college scene. Least you have more time to think about it than I do." Even if she didn't want to think about it at all right then.
Why did she think about it? Roxy didn't entirely know. It seemed like something important. Roxy knew the real world wasn't all about high school cliques and field hockey... well, maybe it could be if you were some massive superstar, and just as she thought of it, Kayla had to go and bring it up. She couldn't help but beam happily at the concept. "Oh wow, you'd be an awesome model! Or an actress. Or hell, you could like, do both, right? I mean, why not! You're definitely beautiful enough." Roxy grinned at Kayla, gnawing on her straw a bit before sipping some more of her iced tea. "At least you have an idea of what you want to do. I have like, no freaking idea. Mom says I should go into hair styling or make-up work. I just think I'd get bored with it, but at least we're in the right place to do stuff like that, right?" Los Angeles was good like that and she was thankful to be where she was.
Being told that she was beautiful enough to be an actress or model was enough to make Kayla flash a bright smile at Roxy. Whether or not this was a topic she didn't want to talk about it never hurt to be called pretty. "You'd just want to be able to stare at pictures of me whenever," Kayla teased as she took another drink. Sure the model industry was way varied, but Kayla had a feeling that if she went into it she'd end up in swimwear or something. Not everyone could pull off a body like hers. "And I could totally see you in either of those with how much you like to play with people's hair. Don't see how it'd get boring either. You'd always have something new to do! Nothing's boring when you're in L.A." One of the reasons why Kayla loved it so much. Even if someone did end up with a boring job there was always so much more to do. Her eyes sparkled. "You can always race more."
It was tremendously difficult not to blush at Kayla's comment about wanting to stare at her in magazines. Well, wasn't that the truth? Roxy had written off plastering her locker door with female models several years ago, but it didn't mean that she stopped drooling over them. If Kayla joined the ranks of such prestigious models, who the hell wouldn't drool? Not to mention Roxy would have been all sorts proud to have her girlfriend as the center of attention. "I think if I went with like, the whole stylist thing, I would get so caught up in it. Like, I would spend hours doing your hair for a photoshoot when the people are all like, 'Come ooooooon! We totally needed this done last year!'" She laughed at herself briefly. "Who knows, I still got time to think about it. Maybe I could get into professional racing or be a stunt car driver." Oh god, her mother would flip her shit over that. As much as Roxy loved drag racing, she wasn't sure how good of a longtime investment that was. For now the money she received from it was amazing and helped her out with buying a certain, special someone a variety of gifts and nights out. Thank god Roxy had an innate ability to drive and go fast.
Roxy may not have blushed, but Kayla could tell she was thinking about it. "But you like being speedy so maybe if they made it a sort of contest..." Kayla offered with a laugh. "God knows you'd never be able to do my hair because you'd never take your hands out of it. Plus if I was done up for the set... well... you'd stare." Who wouldn't? Kayla knew that she'd appreciate the sight of Roxy in a swimsuit posing for some magazine. Not that she couldn't see that almost anytime she wanted. Pretty much anything she wanted from the blue-haired girl she got. "You'll figure out what you want to do when the time comes. And until then, kick ass at field hockey and winning those races." For her. Roxy had first done it with her as a prize and Kayla loved that. She was distracted by the arrival of their soups, starting in on that happily to tide over her stomach. "Mmmmm, good soup. Going to have to thank your mom."
Kicking ass at field hockey and winning drag races was something Roxy could do, and quite well, actually. Just as she was about to say something, the soups had arrived and Roxy perked up, also asking the waitress for another drink, seeing that hers was already slurped down. After taking a few spoonfuls of soup in, Roxy nodded her head in approval and smiled. "Definitely awesome! I'll have to let me mom know how awesome this was. I think she comes here with clients for Quicksilver a lot. Hell if I know why, just know she gives me free surfboards to test out." Who the hell could say no to that, especially someone like Roxy who absolutely loved the water. "Oh! You should be like, a swimsuit model, you know? Like, posing on surfboards and being all sexy and stuff." Her words died out a bit when she realized how loud she was, hoping knowing heard her calling Kayla sexy. Last thing she needed were people staring and thinking horrible thoughts about her.
What mothers did for their jobs was their business and Kayla didn't blame Roxy for not paying attention. If anyone asked Kayla what her own mother did she'd just shrug and say something along the lines of she must pay the housekeeper, right? Other than that, hell if she knew. Oh, right, she practiced magic and made up a whole bunch of different spells to teach her children. That just wasn't the sort of thing that one went around sharing though. "I could be all sexy and stuff without the surfboard," Kayla retorted with a toss of her head. Give her any sort of set and the girl was positive she'd go and rock it harder than anyone else could even think about doing. "But yeah, I'd be good for swimsuits and underwear and all of that. Maybe Victoria's Secret or some really big design company like... I don't know." She flipped one hand up as she sipped at her soup, then laughed. "N & C! I'll model for them." And if they didn't like her? Kayla was sure she'd know spells by then to fix that. If she even went into it. With all the money her dad made it wasn't like it was strictly necessary.
Seeing that Kayla was pulling off sexy really well on her own just sitting there, Roxy wasn't going to deny the face she could pull it off without a surfboard. Hell, she would make the surfboard look ten times as good with her just straddling it. Now that was a mental image that even brain bleach couldn't remove. "Ooo, Victoria's Secret would be awesome! You could like, do that whole runway thing they do where the models pose in the wings. Oh, so pretty! Not to mention you could get some free swag while your at it, right? They have such beautiful lingerie." And who knew, maybe she could sample a few of them to Roxy. That was an even better mental image. "Whoa, N & C? Isn't that the really upscale couture line? Like, all the celebrities want their red carpet gown to be from there? Oh my god, you'd be perfect for that, Kayla!" The idea of her girlfriend being a famous supermodel made Roxy all sorts giddy. Being able to sit back and nod her head while going, 'Oh yeah, she's with me' was quite the feeling.
If Kayla knew what the mental images flashing through Roxy's head were she would've been smirking. It was always nice to know that a game was going so seamlessly well that the other person didn't even have the inkling of an idea that things like this didn't last forever. Especially when one part of the equation was, well, her. Though Roxy was doing rather good... "Yeah, it'd be great to get some of their designs without having to see it chalk up on my credit card. Though I bet you'd like it better than me." Her voice was quieter at the last sentence, eyes sparkling when she shot a glance across the table at Roxy. "Probably not so much for the evening wear, you know? Don't think that'd be so my thing as maybe high-end swimwear or something. Flaunt what you have." Kayla didn't think she'd much care for the whole being wrapped in yards of cloth and then expected to look sexy or something. "Any way it goes everyone will be looking and someone will just be bursting with pride."
Glad to see that Kayla was on the same wave length as Roxy. She always seemed to do that, thus always knowing how to make the penguin girl blush and smile. Just as she went to say something in reply, the waitress came on by with their plates of sushi. "Eee! Food's here!" Clapping her hands together, she beamed with joy as all the sushi was placed in front of them. "Awesome, dig right in." That said, Roxy took her chopsticks and grabbed a piece of her eel avocado and munched away. It was absolutely perfect for a victory dinner. "Sooooo good. Totally needed this after the game. Not to mention the company is lovely." Roxy wiggled her eyebrows slightly before shoving another roll into her mouth. "Trust me, I'm always bursting with pride around you, Kayla. Why wouldn't I be?" She had been idolizing the girl since she was in middle school, then went from being her best friend to girlfriend. Life was good as far as Roxy was concerned. She couldn't ask for anything more from life.
Kayla didn't need to be told twice, she already had her chopsticks in hand and a piece of sushi partway to her mouth by the time Roxy said anything. She had been rather hungry and had downed three rolls before she said anything in response. Not to mention the fact that it was insanely flattering to her ego to hear Roxy agreeing on the pride front. Knowing and hearing were two different things and she wasn't even going to pretend modesty and tell the other girl to stop. What if she did? That just wouldn't do. "Yes to both counts," Kayla finally said. "Food and company are delicious." She winked, pushing another roll around her plate for awhile as the others settled in her stomach. Eating fast wasn't her best idea ever, hungry or not. "Though I'm definitely saving room for dessert." She gave her best innocent look, even knowing how bad she was at them. Something about her entire person just resisted looking innocent if she wasn't acting, like it went right against nature.
Roxy knew half of the time when Kayla was up to something, usually something good. So the whole mention of dessert? Yeah, she doubted that Kayla wanted to stick around from some green tea ice cream when they were done with the sushi. Swallowing down one of the rolls she had chewed up, Roxy batted her eyelashes and glanced away shyly for a second before looking up at the lovely girl. "Dessert? Did you like, have anything in mind?" Roxy perked up an eyebrow, dipping another roll into her bowl of soy sauce. "Like, did you want to stay here and eat or, I don't know." She brought the roll to her lips slowly, still eying Kayla intently. "We could go somewhere else, if you'd like." That said, she plopped the roll into her mouth and chewed away. Kayla wasn't the only one who could pull off the whole innocent tease gig.
Oh that was a tempting look and Kayla knew exactly what she wanted for dessert, and there were no doubts in her mind that Roxy had the same thing in mind. "Mmmm, I had something very particular in mind actually. I've had it before but I don't think it's ever going to get old and I'm pretty sure you like it just as much as me." She smiled, taking another drink as she tilted her head to the side. "You know, it's absolutely the best sort of prize for winning a game, don't you think?" Definitely her idea of a good post-game celebration.
"Really now?" Roxy tilted her head to the side, giggling a bit as more blush came to her cheeks. "Seems like we both have the same taste. Maybe we should like, finish up dinner and then check out the dessert menu? You know, there's more than one way to serve the same type of treat." Part of her couldn't believe that she was being so open in public with Kayla, but seriously? Look at her! She was smoking hot, who could pass that up? At least they were being discreet... for now. Roxy had a feeling the moment they were alone that all insecurities and discreetness would be chucked out the window, and Roxy didn't mind.
"I think I already know how I want mine served," Kayla drawled, picking up another roll and holding it in front of her mouth for a minute or two as she eyed Roxy. "Really I've thought about it since showering after the game... just have a craving." She popped it into her mouth and leaned back as she chewed. Playing games with Roxy, even when the other girl was completely in on them, was way too much fun. Her playing along only made it better because she didn't always do that. A refreshing little change. "You about done? This place like, hit the spot but I'm definitely ready for some dessert." She polished off her drink and folded her hands on the table.
Roxy giggled slightly, shoveling the last of her sushi pieces into her mouth before diving into her tote bag to pull her wallet, tossing out the hundred dollars her mom gave her to cover the dinner. That was plenty in Roxy's mind. "Totally done. Perhaps we should skip this joint and head on out for some dessert? Kind of like take-out, I suppose?" Slipping out of the booth, Roxy slung her bag over her shoulder and eyed Kayla, giving her a playful wink. "Shall we?" At least dessert was going to be free.
Shaking her head at how quickly Roxy finished eating, Kayla picked up her purse and stood, flicking her curls back over her shoulder. She did get a little thrill at seeing Roxy toss a hundred dollars on the table. Sure, her parents did stuff like that all the time but it was a little more exciting when it was your girlfriend tossing money out like that. And for her. Even if they hadn't won the game that'd have been enough for her right there. "Best sort of take-out I've ever had," Kayla returned with a smirk as they started out of the restaurant. Why not? Kayla slowed her steps, letting Roxy go through first so that she could enjoy the view. She couldn't help it, Roxy had that sway thing going on whether she knew it or not. "Thanks for dinner, by the way. It was delicious."
Apparently being a were-penguin had its bonuses aside from the typical were traits. Penguins did have pretty cute tail wiggles, so perhaps that carried over into her human form as well. "Hey, not a prob! Anything for you, you know that, Kayla," Roxy looked over to smile at her girlfriend while opening the door for her. "Besides, it's been awhile since I've had sushi. So full, but sooooo good! We definitely need to do this more often.... the uh, going out for dinner and then doing take-out dessert bit." Roxy bit her lower lip, toying with her labret for a second while she unlocked the BMW. Once she was all settled in, her eyes gazed on over to Kayla, unable to contain herself with looking over the lovely girl's body. "So where should we have this dessert?"
Anything for her indeed, that was basically the basis of everything. Okay, and Roxy was really cute when she did that thing where she bit her lip and toyed with her piercing. Kayla wasn't go to go denying the physical attraction, like hell, especially when they were in a car alone and going to have sex. "Hmmm..." Kayla pretended to think even though she had no ideas and knew she wasn't going to get any. Her hand slid over and ran along Roxy's leg, a smug little smirk playing on her lips. "I don't know, but the closer it is the better because I've got a terrible problem behaving myself with something so sweet right next to me." Playing nice was definitely a foreign concept to her.
