Who: Noah and Aden Roberts, Ammo Kalani and Ulf
Where: The Scarlet Oak Park Playground
When: June 29th / 2009 - Late afternoon
Noah had taken Aden to the park. The little boy had enough energy to burn off that keeping him inside, even if the weather wasn't in the favor of anybody that was outside. The muggy weather didn't bother Noah though. He was happy to be in the heat. Being nice and warm was a good thing, but having Aden out in it probably wasn't the wisest of ideas. He had brought himself along a large bottle of water for the little boy to hydrate, just in case. The day had been fairly busy, seeing a small handful of clients that were completely animal, and a couple of patients that were in fact, Were. The time spent with Were's was always something he valued. He wanted to make sure that he learned as much as he possibly could about working on them. They healed up so quickly that often he didn't always have the time to fix things before they fused themselves back together.
He watched his little boy play, easily making friends with the few other kids that were playing. There were a few mothers across the way watching their kids. They'd been suspicious of Noah when he'd sat down, having not seen Aden with him originally, but as soon as the little boy had waved at Noah and called him Daddy, they had relaxed. He was just a single dad, taking his son out. Not some creepo that they needed to be wary of. Noah was used to that though.
Noah ran his hand through his hair and leaned back on the uncomfortable wooden bench. It always amazed him how they couldn't make a bench somewhat comfortable, when they well knew that parents would sit for hours on them without moving, watching their kids. Aden hopped down off of the play equipment though, abandoning his new friends when he saw, what looked to be-from where Noah was sitting- a giant dog approaching the climbing apparatus. Noah knew all too well how happy Aden was to see animals and did what he'd always been trained to do, sticking his hand out for the dog to sniff. Or take a bite out of...one of the two. Noah got up and headed over quickly, just in case.
Ulf always liked going out wandering on his own, but it was almost nicer to be out with Ammo. For one, fewer people were likely to think he was a ferocious beast out to gobble them up, and while the big wolf-dog could charm most people into understanding he was harmless, there were always a few who insisted on freaking out and calling animal control on him. He was lucky that he was smart enough to have avoided the pound so far, but he didn't like to push his luck.
Today, however, was perfect for walking. Ulf bounded far ahead of his indulgent 'owner,' exploring every nook and cranny of the park as if he hadn't already memorized every bit of it. The gaggle of children climbing all over the playground equipment was new, though. With a wide, doggy grin and a furiously wagging tail, he trotted over to say hi, immediately zeroing in on the one boy who was neither afraid of him nor ignoring him. New friend! Joy!
Ammo followed behind Ulf at a pretty decent distance. He trusted the dog not to get into trouble and he trusted his own command over him in case it was ever needed. It never had, something he was quite grateful of, especially now that they were far too many people in a far too small apartment. He should really look into getting them a place to stay that had some space that Ulf could play in. The big dog might be old, but he was certainly lively and Ammo knew he himself would go crazy if he was being kept in a small box for too long and he assumed the dog felt no different.
When he spotted Ulf walking up to a small boy, he sighed and jogged over. Ammo might trust Ulf to keep control of himself but he knew that not all others saw it the way he did. Ulf was a big dog that seemed to be walking around on his own. That tended to get people nervous. He laid his hand on Ulf's shoulders, letting the dog know he was there. He smiled down at the kid and then glanced up when he noticed someone else approaching. "Oh, hello." The smile didn't change as he met the eyes of the man coming towards them.
Noah wasn't as worried as one parent might be. He knew well enough that Aden wouldn't pet the dog until it had sniffed him and given him permission. Then the dog came up to about Aden's little head and Noah was slightly concerned. Aden was small for his age, he was a lot smaller then Caius and Caius was only a year older. Noah hoped that his son would come in to a growth spurt. Neither he nor Melody were small people and so Noah wasn't sure where the stunted height had come from. He saw the man grab at the dog though and was slightly relieved that somebody was a good pet owner.
"Hello." Noah said, smiling a little bit and looking over, what he now realized was more wolf then dog. "Aden." he warned, as the little boy held up his hand more for the dog to sniff.
"Daddy don't you worry." Aden drawled off to his father. "He ain't gonna hurt me none."
Noah was still slightly wary, studying over the dog. Seemed harmless enough. He looked at the man with the dreadlocks. "Beautiful dog, what's the breed?" Noah asked conversationally, but he was actually curious as well.
Oh, Ulf loved it when the kids were well-mannered! Not that he'd ever hurt one, even if they climbed all over him or pulled his fur, but it was much more pleasant to be around the ones who treated him with respect. He gave Aden's hand a happy snuffle, then stepped forward and butted his head gently against the boy's chest, his version of a playful greeting. Ammo could deal with the older man coming over, he wanted to romp for a while with this charming young gentleman!
He did, however, pause when the man called him 'beautiful' and leaned over to give him a customary sniff as well. Good eye on the man, to see what a fine animal he was!
Ammo smiled at Ulf and the kid, watching them play was always nice. Ulf's manners around children was one of the reasons he had been alright with leaving the dog with his sister. If the two had not gotten along as well as they did he would probably not have kept Ulf. At the question of what breed Ulf was, Ammo looked at Noah. He scratched his head and smiled sheepishly. "I honestly don't know. I found him wounded in the forest almost a decade ago. It looked like had been caught in a trap. I took him home and took care of him and he just never left."
Ammo leaned down and scratched Ulf's fur a little. He didn't mind that Ulf playing, but there was a strange comfort in the dog. He had been a part of the family ever since Ammo had found him and Ammo hated the idea that Ulf might be on his last legs. "I am guessing he is some sort of mutt."
Aden giggled when he got the sudden nose butt to the chest. He liked dogs, animals in general considering he'd grown up around so many, helping his father nurse some of the most badly wounded ones to health. Aden understood that bond and where a kinship like that could come from. He was pretty smart for a four year old after all. The little boy hugged on to the huge neck of the dog, as his father tried not to take in a large intake of breath through his teeth. Aden and his friendliness. It was going to get him killed one of these days. "He's awful soft." Aden pronounced letting the dog go and petting behind his ears. Noah didn't reach down and pet the dog when he gave him a sniff. He let his son to it.
Noah looked at the man more closely this time, and sensed a familiar sort of energy. It had taken him a moment to notice it, but it was there, an underlying of current that ran through both of their bodies. Noah wondered idly if this man would say something about it. Noah was under the impression that it was proper decorum not to mention it unless it seemed to be something you were both acknowledging. He nodded his head. "That was mighty kind of you, takin' an animal in to your home like that, wish more people did it." Noah said putting out his hand for a shake. "Noah Roberts. Well doctor, I'm a veterinarian, was just curious as he seems to be a bit more wolf then he does dog." Noah said studying over the animal still. He wouldn't be able to know for sure unless he did a full examination, and Noah didn't make it a habit to go around willy nilly looking over animals that he did not know. "And that's my son Aden, the one that thinks that strange dogs don't need to be worried on." He said, scolding his son a little.
Aden ignored his father, as per usual. "He's mighty big but nice daddy." He answered his father off handedly. "He's like one of 'em mini ponies." Aden remarked, not yet willing to admit he was thinking that riding this here dog would be an excellent way to get around. Caius would be so jealous.
Ulf let his tail wag good and hard at the hug, twisting a bit to give the kid a nice, sloppy lick across the side of his face. Adults never appreciated a good doggy-kiss, but kids always seemed happy for the attention. That was one of the long list of reasons that he liked the little tykes so much. When Aden let go he bounced around, letting out a short bark in the hopes of coaxing the boy into play. Fetch? Tag? He didn't care. He adored Patience, of course, but he could only put up with getting ribbons tied in his fur so much before he wanted to play something else, for a change. And rowdy kids made up the absolute best games, in his opinion. He vaguely noticed that Ammo and the other man were talking about them, but since he found nothing wrong with a large, unaltered wolf-dog running about off-leash, he couldn't imagine that he'd be hearing anything other than praise.
Ammo took the hand and gave it a proper shake. "Adrian Kalani, most people just call me Ammo" Oh, so this was the local veterinarian. That would be useful to know, even if Ulf never seemed to get sick, you never know. "Pleasure to meet you. Do you have a clinic around here? Ulf is fine right now, but he is getting old and it would be nice to know where I can take him if it comes to that." Looking at the kid and Ulf, he smiled, watching Ulf make new friends was always amusing. "Well, Ulf is used to children so it is perfectly fine if Aden wants to play with him."
Looking back at Noah, he couldn't help but feel a little strange, like something was slightly off. Was this what Roque meant when he said Ammo should be able to sense others like him? Maybe, but how would he ask about that. Better to return to a safe subject. "Maybe he does have wolf in him, I really have no idea. How would you go about finding that out?"
Aden giggled again when the dog was so playful. He knew what the doggy wanted! "Come on boy, come on and get me!" Aden drawled suddenly taking off on his two little legs. Of course, about five steps of his was one of the large dog's lopping gait, but it didn't matter to Aden. He was off and running, and being watched by the other children who were egging either one or the other to 'get him!'.
Noah sighed as his son's trusting nature, but he let him have his fun. He could always fix up scrapped knees later with band aid's and promises of Rowena's healing kisses. He smiled though at Ammo, no need to be worried yet then if Ulf was good with kids. When he shook hands with the man, he noted that he had a warm grip. "Ammo then." He nodded. "Yes, we're just right on 'round the corner, we're called Pelurious Paws, and I work out of my home. I converted it in to an office with examination rooms when I moved here just over a year ago." Noah explained politely. Could always use extra customers. Then again he was curious to examine the dog.
"Oh best I"d likely just do is have you bring him on in. I could look him over and compare him to the known breeds. He very likely could have a bit a wolf in him." Noah said crossing his arms casually, keeping an eye on the pup and his son. "I know they've got them at home testin' kits that you can buy over the internet. Tell you, you can DNA test your dog, and it'll come up to tell you what out of 100 breeds your dog could likely be. I don't know if I trust those too much, only because I can't imagine somethin' as expensive as DNA testin' would be so easy to do for any random owner." Noah chuckled. "I went through medical school and I tell you, it's not poke and test kit." He shook his head. There was always a money grab out there. '
"You were sayin' you're worried about how old he's gettin'? You can always bring him on by and I can give him a look over. No charge of course. He seems like a puppy though, runnin' 'round like he is."
As the boy ran off, Ulf bounded along after him, pacing himself to stay just behind Aden. There was no fun if he caught the kid right away, after all. He bounced from side to side, half-herding Aden around the playground, but never quite catching him. This was much more fun than chasing squirrels, just because squirrel-chases always ended far to quickly. Usually with him barking up the tree. So he danced around the boy instead of catching him, barking and wagging his tail and grinning like the happiest dog on earth.
Ammo smiled watched the two play as well. Having Ulf in for a check up would probably be nice for him. "Yeah, he has always been like this. A bit more nervous when I had just picked him up of course but that is just to be expected isn't it. He calmed down very quickly" It had been surprisingly fast too, at least Ammo had thought so, but then again he hadn't had much knowledge of dogs back then. "It would be great to come in, when would be a good time, or should I call in an make an appointment?"
Aden had no idea he was being herded, but it was fun enough to run around and scream anyway. The dog could have managed to make him go any which way he wanted a few of the other kids went back to playing with each other and ignoring the dog and child, but a few others seemed almost like they wanted to join in, but weren't sure if they should. Aden, however, happily continued to run around and be a human dog distractor sometimes turning to see where this giant new playmate was.
Noah reached in to his back pocket and pulled out a card from it, handing it to Ammo before returning his wallet to his pants. "That there's the number to my office. You can call there and the receptionist will give you a time. We take drop ins, but sometimes it's busy. Best to call the day of if you're goin' to drop in an' see if we got any availability." He called Rowena his 'Receptionist' when speaking to people he didn't know, but most of his clients that were in regularly with their animals knew that Rowena was also living with Noah. "Some dogs are just animals that take to bein' in a home real well. Glad he's worked out for you. I'm sure you get yourself a lot of attention when you go on out with him." Noah said, continuing to be conversational. "Either women or kids though is my guess." He chuckled a little bit. "Kids do the same thing for ya, but dogs are more loyal." He smiled a little bit.
He paused, not usually so brazen. "So...is it Fire?" he asked quietly, his voice dropping a couple notches in volume.
Ulf lept in front of Aden suddenly, flopping on his back and peering up at the boy. That was him - the living speed bump! The living fuzzy, soft speed bump. He wagged his tail and wiggled happily, waiting happily to be petted and cooed over by Aden and any other child who wanted to come over and play. Kids were the absolute best.
"Yeah, the only problem is that he gets more attention than me when we go out. Which in some cases are good, he is better with children than I am" Ammo smiled and put the card in his pocket. He would give them a call later, get Ulf looked over would be nice. He hadn't done so in about a year, and that was provided that his mother had taken Ulf in when he asked last year. He blinked a few times, crossing his arms. Did Noah mean what Ammo thought he was talking about? What other meanings could there be? "If you are talking about what I think you are, then yes." Why hide it? If the man could tell just by looking then maybe he was something too.
Aden stopped before he ran over the dog, though he likely would have went flying over him if he didn't have better control of his wee little feet. Aden flopped next to the dog and began to pet his ears and head like his father had shown him, rubbing the soft tips of his ears where there were supposed to be places that made dogs relax. He didn't really know what he was doing but he copied what he remembered his father doing. "You're a good boy." Aden told the dog. A few other kids that hadn't gone off to play climbed down off the playground equipment and went over to Aden.
"Is that yooooour dog? Can I pet her?" A little girl asked.
"No, he's that man's on over there." Aden said with a shake of his head. "And she's a he." He informed the little girl slightly put off.
The little girl ignored Aden and started to pet at Ulf's tail.
Noah hadn't expected to be right when he asked. He'd known something was off about the fellow in the cafe as well, but he didn't feel like he had the same energy. Actually he'd felt put off by the energy, and realized it was because he was of an opposing element. This man didn't give Noah that vibe. "Thought so. Ya'll have got the same sort of feel." He said lightly. "Been doin' it long?" He asked, as if they were merely speaking about a job, or a hobby. Noah had started to feel the need to put his feelers out there to see what other sort of people were around. It would be good to find out if other Fire Elementals had the same urges to do horrible things.
Even if he was a bit inexperienced, getting petted was still getting petted. Ulf's tongue lolled out as he nuzzled up against Aden, turning his head just so that the boy could reach a particularly itchy spot. His tail thumped hard against the ground, or it tried. Right about then, the little girl grabbed it and grinned at him, which only served to make him squirm around and lick her.
"Hey!" She squealed and giggled, tugging on his tail a bit too hard. But Ulf put up with it and just rolled about comically, showing off for his audience.
"Not really, only discovered it about a month ago. I guess there are parts of it that I've been doing without knowing about them. I've been in some accidents where I should have gotten burned but didn't" It had always confused Ammo how he got out of those things so easily, the worst had been the time he'd spent a month in a coma. But now that made somewhat more sense at least.
Now that there were more children around Ulf, Ammo kept a somewhat closer eye on the dog. They didn't spend much time around large groups of children so he wasn't sure how Ulf would take that. He seemed to be doing alright but if he needed a break from the children Ammo felt like he should be there and be on guard, at least a little. "How about you? Longer? Shorter?" He didn't really look at Noah as he spoke, but he assumed the guy would understand that it was to him.
Aden forgot about the annoying girl and giggled at the large dog rolling about, catching him when he was on his front, and sprawling over his back. He was so small really, that probably wasn't much weight on the wolf dog, but it still worried his father, who called across the playground to get his son to get off the poor dog. Aden complied, but only after a moment of feeling the soft fur under his arms and legs. "I wish you were my dog," he announced. He'd been needling for a dog for a long time now, but Noah had too much on his plate as it was.
After Noah had sent the warning off to his son, he returned his attention back to the man. "Yeah, that's a handy little thing about us, not gettin' burned. It saved me a few times." He said thinking of his mother and her trying when he had been younger. Mostly she'd been too drunk to realize that her cigarette wasn't having any affect on him, and she moved on to her next way of torturing him. "A month ain't a very long time at all." Noah shook his head. He was still curious about Aden though.
"Since I was just a teenager, thirteen. I was in foster care when I met up with another one of us. He told me what I was an' what I was capable of. He taught me what he could before he was let out of the state's custody." He explained to the other man. Of course, it was strange to tell this to a stranger when he wasn't sure he'd even told Rowena that yet. "I ain't close to masterin' though, don't know that I'll ever at my age." He commented. He knew that most masters were such by the time they hit their thirties.
Ulf stood up a bit, carefully balancing Aden on his back before crouching back down and letting the boy off. He wouldn't have minded playing 'pony', but he'd learned a while ago that some kids had trouble with the concept of 'hanging on', so he usually avoided the more risky play until he knew the kid better. At Aden's announcement, he pranced a little and preened, stumbling only when a little girl - who thought Aden's idea of ride-the-doggy looked like brilliant fun - attempted to scramble onto his back.
"Yeah, it feels like yesterday that I discovered" Ammo still wasn't completely sure of it himself, but everything Roque had said made sense and he honestly doubted the cat would lie to him. Of course he was nowhere near mastering it himself, he could barely control it. "How was it growing up with it?" He couldn't quite imagine how it must have been, knowing you had these sorts of powers when you were growing up.
Aden's mouth dropped open. Well that was just rude. "Be careful now little lady!" He called at the girl who was currently tugging on the dog's fur. Poor doggy. He tugged on the little girl's arm to get her to stop. He worried about the dog getting hurt by her scrambling. "He's no carnival ride." Aden's tugging didn't seem to help though, and so he went over to the other side of the dog, making sure that the little girl didn't get right up on to the poor pup's back.
"It was...strange. I mean, obviously there were things that happened to me that didn't make much sense. Never once burned my hand on nothin' that sort. It wasn't till a kid I knew growin' up told me what I was. Felt me out like I felt you out." He explained. "He didn't know much 'bout his powers neither, but he explained them to me best he could. I guess I got a leg up that way." Noah replied thinking about his past. "Never had a real proper mentor in my life. Sort of just gone on books. Though books were hard to find before that there Light of May." He said throwing a glance at the dog and the kids.
"He goin' to be okay bein' crawled all over like that?" He asked, not particularly concerned for his own son. The dog seemed even tempered and obviously liked kids. He still wanted to examine him though and find out what sort of dog he was.
Ulf was very quick to decide that it was much safer on the ground, and flopped on his side, letting the kids climb over him and pet him with sticky fingers and tug his fur with - if Ammo and Noah didn't know better - what was almost a long-suffering but bemused expression. But, of course, dogs weren't capable of such a complex emotion. He was quickly surrounded by the gaggle of children, and he basked in the attention, even as his ears swiveled to catch bits of the adults' conversation.
"So, how much can you do? I mean if you don't mind sharing?" Ammo was curious as to how much their powers differed, they had already settled that the not getting burnt part they had in common. He suspected that Noah knew quite a bit more than he did and maybe he could pick up some things. Following Noah's glance over at the dog and kids he chuckled. "Yeah he should be alright. Patience uses him as a landscape for her ponies. She's the kid of the buddy of mine I am staying with." But it was better to be on the safe side. "Ulf, come here."
Aden decided it would be a good time to figure out if his new doggy playmate was in good health, and took a moment to go and check out his teeth He lay down on the grass in front of Ulf-likely to give his father a mild aneurism for the grass stains it would cause-looking in to the mouth of the grinning dog. "Your teeths are real big, doggy." Aden announced mater of fact like. At least he didn't think that poking around inside of Ulf's mouth was a good idea.
"I can control and create small fires." He said nodding his head. "Sustain them as well, it's much easier then it used to be, I don't have to think about it." That was really all that Noah could do, which wasn't as impressive as he'd heard that most Fire Elementals could do. It made him jealous, but Noah kept his green eye'd monster in check. It was just another thing that he had to worry about over the years, being good enough. He shook the thoughts off and focused on the dog across the way when Ammo commanded the dog. "Good dog then, excellent recall." He nodded his head. Thinking it's possible he'd been out to the ranch at some point to help with a pony or two.
Ulf, rather amused at the small boy, sat patiently as his teeth were scrutinized. They were, in fact, rather large, and in excellent repair (especially for a ten-year-old dog). How else could he catch rabbits? But at Ammo's call he wormed his way out from under the mass of children and bounded over. Ammo was still under the delusion that Ulf occasionally needed treats to reinforce good behavior, and so the wolf-dog sat eagerly by his side, tail waving about and hoping that he had a bit of chicken somewhere on his person.
Ammo chuckled and handed the dog a small treat. For some reason he could not figure out Ulf was extremely picky and really only liked dried meat or preferably the raw stuff. It had been quite a quest finding food he would eat and Ammo still wasn't sure if he had found the best things for the dog. Giving the dog the treat he looked up at Noah. "That is more than I can do still. Then again, maybe I just haven't tried hard enough." He then moved to petting Ulf's head, knowing that there was a spot behind the ears the dog liked very much. "By the way, do you have any recommendations for food for a very picky dog, the only thing I've found that he'll eat is meat and a few types of canned food. And my lunch, but that is a different thing I think. He's even picky about his treats"
Aden followed the dog over back to the tall man with what he perceived as braids, and his father. He stood next to Ulf petting his back as Ammo pet his head. He looked up at his dad talking to Ammo and stayed quiet for now, just trying to concentrate more on enjoying the dog before the man would ultimately take his pup home.
Noah watched the dog eat his treat for being a good dog, and then turned his attention back to the man. "I was lucky somebody figured me on out early. If you've only known for a little while, it takes some time an' practice. Good to always get that practice in if you can." Noah nodded his head. Noah chuckled. "Your lunch huh? Big on the people food." He considered it. "Well if he is in fact part wolf, that'd explain the wantin' for just the meat. Dog food isn't always somethin' a wolf will eat." He scratched the back of his head thinkin'. "Feedin' him filet mignon ain't exactly cheap, but if you wanted to put him on a raw diet, I can get that up and runnin' for you. Lots of owners are goin' to it because it's healthier for dogs. You can't imagine what I've got comin' in to my office sometimes requestin' a vegan diet for a dog. A dog doesn't want to eat no veggies, it wants meat." He smiled a bit at Ulf again. "Raw diet would be cheaper then wastin' money on dog food he ain't eatin' . And it won't be the same grade as us human's get but it's healthy for his system." Noah explained.
Nibbles, attention from a sweet little boy, and people talking about him. What could be better? Ulf leaned on Ammo a little and panted, ears perked as they talked about food. Oh, oh he liked this man. He was seriously telling Ammo to feed him raw meat all the time? That sounded delicious. And he'd never again have to worry about those nasty kibble brands he kept bringing home! If he'd known that there were vets this smart, he'd have found some way to be introduced to one a long time ago. Up until now all they'd done was poke him with needles and do unspeakable things with thermometers... oh, what he put up with to keep up his little facade.
Ammo nodded at the suggestion from Noah "It has been what we've been mostly doing so far more or less successfully, but every time I see something new I try it out. So letting him just eat meat is actually possible without being bad for him?" He wasn't sure where he had gotten the idea that a raw diet might not be the best, and now that he thought about it he felt sort of stupid for it. Then again Roque already ate all meat anyway, though he mostly insisted on eating what he had caught himself, claiming that something raised in a pen had none of the taste of something you had chased and killed yourself. "What do you suggest? Is there a place to get enough meat for him that is reasonable?"
Aden's father could tell that Aden wanted to open his mouth and ask the owner about something, but his father seemed intent to not let her son talk, and so Aden continued to stand quietly, petting the dog, and then moving down his back to the dog's rear end and trying to catch the dog's wagging tail, with not much avail.
Noah nodded his head. "If that's all he'll eat, it won't be much of a problem. He seems healthy, for how old he must be an' if that's all you been feedin' him, then it must be all right. Some Vets don't like the raw diet, I say it depends on the dog. If he's got more wild in 'im then domestic and won't eat much else, then it's better he eat somethin' then nothin'." Besides, if the dog was as old as he seemed to be, then it was likely that he should have a diet of what he liked. Old dogs didn't last forever. "I can actually suggest you one better if you have the patience and time to put in to your dog." He cocked his head towards Ulf, "There's a good book called Bones and Raw Food Diet. It'll help you get a good meal plan going. There's risks to everythin' of course. Got to be careful to make sure if he seems ill from it that you bring 'im in, but that's the same as all things. If he's been eatin' like that anyway though can't see how it'll do 'im any harm to get him a proper diet that's easier on your wallet goin'."
Well, of course he was healthy. If Ammo was insisting he eat kibble, he just went out and caught or begged proper food. And it took a lot to keep a were down, both with injuries and with illness. He wagged the tail harder to give Aden something to chase, glancing back at the boy with a doggy smile. Cute little thing. He hoped Patience would grow up to be as well-mannered as this kid, and less inclined to tying ribbons in fur. But he couldn't help but drool a little at all this talk of delicious, delicious food.
"That is good idea, I'll see if I can find that book." Ammo smiled down at the dog wagging his tail. Sometimes he could swear the dog understood what he was talking about, but he doubted it, and he didn't want to sound like some of those crazy people who claimed their dog understood everything they said. "Thank you very much for the advise, I'll be sure to give you guys a call and set up an appointment for Ulf. I think we should be off. It was a pleasure meeting you and Aden." Ammo made a mental note to himself that this would probably be a good park to walk Ulf in. There seemed to be plenty of friendly children who liked the dog, as well as nice company for him to chat with while Ulf played.
Aden continued to try for the dog's tail, still failing, that was until his father picked him up and held him like a sack of potatoes.
Noah nodded his head and offered his free hand to shake Ammo's once more. "Good to meet you too, and we'll be glad to see you in when you do come around." He said with another nod of his head. "Have a good day ya'll." He said getting a better grip on Aden who was used to being tugged around as he was that moment. "Come on squirt, Rowena's goin' to be expectin' us home soon." He said and after a final wave to the dread-headed man, he head off, going home.
