Standing in lines was not Scotty Cooper's favorite things. Actually, he hated lines. Especially in places like Coffee Shops. Because you know how Scotty always got in front of him? Browsey people. People who liked to browse. Scotty couldn't understand how, you could stand in a line up, for as long as everybody did, and not know what you wanted by the time you got to the front of the line. You were standing there all that time and it didn't dawn on you to read the menu while you were right on in front of it. He sighed as another person paid and one more stepped up to the counter with a rather flustered look on their face as to what to get themselves.
He knew what he wanted. A green tea blender with honey. Not so hard. He looked over at the man that was trying to decide between the Dark Roast and the Columbian Roast. He'd pick the Columbian, it's what he'd drank most of his life from what Scotty could read in his mind, but he seemed to have this discussion with himself every time he came to the coffee shop. Scotty wasn't in too big of a rush. He was planning on stuffing himself in the corner with his lap top and do some internet surfing. He didn't have an internet connection at home, and so if he wanted to use his computer for that, he needed to go out. It was too late to go to the library, so to the coffee shop it was. He moved up a space when finally the man in front of him came to the cash register.
He was trying to remember what his wife liked, who was sitting at the table near where they were sitting. Apparently the two of them had had a huge fight, she'd accused him of barely knowing her and he'd said he knew everything she liked, including what type of fancy coffee drink she liked. They'd marched down here to see. Currently she was think of a tall half fat non caf two shot sugar free vanilla dry cappuccino. The man had no idea however and was currently contemplating a full fat chocolaty mocha. Wrong. Scotty caught wind of what she was thinking now, and he felt bad for the man. It was get this right, or she was going to divorce him. Frowning, Scotty leaned over the man's shoulder. "Get him a Earl Grey tea and his wife will have a tall half-fat non-caf two shot sugar free vanilla dry cappuccino." He said to the cashier quietly. The man blinked at him, a look of recognition coming across his face at the name of the drink.
"Hey thanks kid." He said, but then blinking at the fact that this young boy knew what his wife wanted.
"Don't mention it. Pick up your drink down there." he pointed the man on his way, giving him a pat on the back, forcing him to go once he'd paid.
"Er, thanks." he said still looking confused as to what had just happened.
"Right, now can I get a Medium or whatever Green Tea Blender with honey." He said, pulling out a tenner to pay, and then getting his change. He went down to the end of the counter where his drink would be. The man was picking up his two drinks and heading over to where his wife was sitting, looking out the window. When the man presented her with the drink, she looked...well shocked.
Scotty wasn't sure if he did the man a favor or if he'd just condemned him to a longer sentence of suffering...
