Opening was always the worst shift, especially during the summer, it was boring because most people didn't get up early to go to a used bookstore. Except Mr. Rowley a nice old man who came in the store every day to look through the new arrivals, maybe buy a book and talk with the workers. He was nice and Ella liked him, usually giving a little discount and a broad smile. He liked to tell her stories of the 40's, how he met his wife and their life here raising their children, Ella couldn't help but smile at him and talk back animatedly.
As she waved goodbye to him, Ella spent the rest of the time with her hand resting on her chin, watching as a few people entered, perused the books and eventually bought one or just left. She liked it here, people were nice and there weren't a whole lot them, which she was a little thankful for and Mr. Rowley always seemed to make her day a little brighter. The fact was though that she wasn't getting paid enough and she needed money, she would miss the quiet and even Mr. Rowley but the job she was looking at paid more. Even if is was a lingerie shop, she could deal. She may have been shy, but Ella wasn't a prude.
As her shift ended, Ella already decided that she would swing by her house and eat something before going out for a run. It had been a while since she had shifted and she wanted that free feeling she got from shifting into her animal form. Slinging her bag over her shoulder, Ella skipped outside and still in her own little world, almost didn't notice Sonny leaning against the beat up car she vaguely recognized. "Sonny Bunny!" she exclaimed with a grin, bouncing over to him. "What are you doing here?"
