A Second Delivery Who: Spence and Ezra When: Morning Where: Ezra's
Once Hannah was gone from his house, Spence showered and dressed in a comfortable pair of jeans and a t-shirt with his jacket. He took the blood Hannah had given him from the fridge and drove over to Ezra's home, not bothering to call before hand. Spence was hoping this would ease some of the 'debt' he was in with Ezra, and maybe finding one more blood donor, willing or not, would get him off the hook completely.
With the tiny cooler in his hand, he walked up to Ezra's door and knocked loudly.
Ezra was not in the best of moods, quite honestly. He'd expected to have a call back from that fellow who'd called the day before. He'd expected to have a job, a legitimate job in which he would get money that no one would have to wonder where it came from. And there was nothing.
So it was with a rare irritability that he came to the door-- he didn't really look irritable, but he didn't look quite as pleasant as usual, either. "Yes?" he asked as he opened the door.
... Spence? What was he doing here?
Spence wasn't overly concerned with Ezra's mood at the moment. They weren't friends, and Spence could honestly say he didn't care if the guy was crabby or not. He was there with a purpose, so he got down to it. Spence lifted the cooler with a grin. "Figured you might want this. Better than psychic blood, I have to say."
Ah. That was why Spence was here. Eager to get rid of his debt. "Oh?" Ezra asked, brows up expectantly. He opened the door wider and let Spence in, shutting the door behind him before he asked, "What do you have?"
"Air elemental blood," Spence said, turning to face Ezra once he was inside. "Two vials full. I figured that would be worth more than the psychic blood I brought back last time." At least, it better be. He knew elemental blood went for a decent price, and some vampires preferred it.
"Oh, yes, it is definitely worth more than psychic blood." Ezra beckoned Spence down to his basement again, to test the blood again. He could at least verify the type and add a more mundane type, as well, just for personal taste. "Should I ask how you procured this batch? Or would that be impolite of me?"
Spence followed, not at all hesitant to share with Ezra how he'd obtained the blood. He just didn't plan on using any names. "A woman I met was willing to donate," Spence explained. In exchange for sex, but they had both gotten what they wanted in the end, so that was fine by Spence.
"Willing to donate," Ezra repeated, glancing back over his shoulder at Spence as he descended the stairs. "And what did she get out of the exchange?" He doubted she gave out of the goodness of her heart-- he never understood why people did that. They had to have some kind of ulterior motive or it made no sense.
"Does that matter?" Spence asked dryly. He walked over to the table to set the cooler down so Ezra could do his blood testing on it, or whatever it was he did. "She was curious, and she told me if I was going to take it anyway, that she might as well make it easier on herself, and me."
"I suppose it doesn't matter, no, but I was curious," Ezra shrugged, pulling his testing "kit" from the fridge and opening the cooler to pull out his offerings. "I very rarely get anyone offering to not fight me, when I'm in the middle of a collection."
"I wasn't really in the middle of a collection, though I was planning to be," Spence said, crossing his arms and staying out of Ezra's way. "I don't really even remember how it came up, but she said she'd rather me take the blood willingly than drug her. So I did."
"A very accommodating girl," Ezra commented, a little amused and still half-certain the man was hiding some other part of the deal. "And I rather prefer to sell blood without any other compounds in the system, so I certainly appreciate her accommodation." He found her blood type and marked the vials appropriately. "I think this almost squares away our debt. One more delivery like this and I do believe I'll let you off the hook." He flashed Spence a bland sort of smile.
Spence simply smirked, not bothering to comment on the idea that Hannah was 'accommodating'. She had been, extremely. Now he was one step closer to getting out from under Ezra's thumb. "Brilliant. I'm sure I'll be able to come up with something for you soon." He cocked an eyebrow. "Anything else you need?"
"I'm always on the lookout for angel blood or fire elemental blood," Ezra shrugged, replacing his testing kit in the fridge and putting away the two new samples on another shelf. "I have a standing order for as much of either as I can collect."
"I'll make a mental note." He tapped his finger against his forehead. If he could find either, or, he'd do what he could to get Ezra some. And maybe keep some for himself. "Though I'm happy to hear this'll placate you for awhile. I'm assuming you've got some clients looking for those particular blood types?"
"Mmhmm. Though I rarely have trouble selling either one, even if I didn't," Ezra admitted. "Those are generally very popular. That, and siren blood. If you can get any of that, I believe I would owe you." He chuckled, fairly sure Spence wouldn't be coming up with siren blood any time soon, and closed the cooler to slide it across the counter at Spence.
"Siren blood." Spence snorted once. "Yeah, I've been searching for that myself. It's not easy." He'd make a fortune off of siren's blood. It was the top tier, in his opinion. He reached out to take the cooler from Ezra. "I'll keep an eye out for fire elementals or angels. I doubt it'll be that hard to come by in this town."
"One would hope not," Ezra shrugged. "But you never know." His own search hadn't been extremely fruitful. Perhaps Spence would be more lucky. And if he was... Ezra wanted to know how. He was tempted to set a ghost on the man, but he wasn't generally that duplicitous. He'd try that if the man somehow came about with something valuable.
"Can I offer you any refreshment while you're here?" he asked mildly.
"You never know," Spence agreed with a small, brisk nod. He wasn't sure he would ever inform any other blood hunter if he did come across rare and valuable blood. It would be stupid on his part to share. "No, I'm okay. I need to get going anyway. I just thought I would stop by and drop this off for you. If there's nothing else you need from me at the moment, I'll be on my way."
Ezra nodded. "All right, then. I suppose I'll see you again whenever you have the last delivery for me." Or when the man needed another favor. Sooner or later, everyone did. He led him back up the basement stairs, then paused at the top let him pass and see himself out, tipping an imaginary hat to him. "Have a pleasant day, Spence."
Spence sent a mock salute in Ezra's direction before heading to the door. "I'll certainly try." He hoped to get Ezra another delivery asap, to be done with the whole thing. Certainly if he needed another favor from the guy, Spence would make damn sure that he had payment ready to go from the very beginning.
