chasing leaves in the wind, going where we've never been
WHO. Wesley, Maxine & Charlie (NPC)
WHERE. Outside of the grocery store
WHEN. Early afternoon
Scarlet Oak.
Wesley had no idea what could be in this little town that would warrant The Dot to stop here for so long, but she was thankful. Thankful because it gave her enough time to leave her jobs in San Francisco and make arrangements with Andrew to borrow his house. That was sheer luck, having a friend who owed her a favor who actually had property in the very town The Dot decided to rest in. The house in question was lovely; it wasn’t so large that Wes and Charlie found themselves swallowed inside, but it was definitely big enough for her to feel free. Plus, her daughter was a fan. Most of the furniture was covered up with plastic sheets and there was an inch of dust on all of the counters, so Wesley and Charlie spent most of their morning cleaning up.
They went out for lunch afterwards and decided they would pick up some groceries while they were out. There was still a lot of work left to be done to make the house completely ready for them to live in and they couldn’t afford to go out to eat for every single meal. As they walked through the streets on the way to the grocery store, Wesley was sure to keep her eyes open for any ‘Help Wanted’ or ‘Now Hiring’ signs taped inside of shop windows. She had enough money for her and Charlie to live decently for a little while, but she couldn’t rely on that. She needed to find a job.
Which was why she wasn’t looking where she was going and ended up walking straight into another woman. Wes stumbled a bit, but didn’t topple over and her hands were out to steady the other woman by holding onto her shoulders. “I’m so sorry,” she immediately apologized.
“Geez, Mom,” Charlie snickered. “Way to make a first impression.”
