“I’ve never seen myself get that angry with a customer. Hell, I’ve never seen fire come out of my hands like that before.” She knew that was true, but it felt wrong. For one thing, it didn’t freak her out quite like it should have. A normal person would have turned into the human torch and lost their mind over it; not Harper. No, Harper had looked down at her hands and realized quite simply that yes, she could shoot fire from her hands and that was perfectly natural. She glanced down to her hands and snapped her fingers while giving Josh a thumb’s up, a small flame sparking at the end of her thumb. She playfully blew out the flame and pressed a swift kiss onto his lips. “Let’s get on inside, I bet Daveigh’s nerves are just eating her up.”
Harper could not ever remember liking one of Daveigh’s boyfriends -- not that she could really remember meeting very many of them, at least not specifically -- but she didn’t think that could be blamed. She was an older sister and that meant being protective, even if her sister hated it. So, when she walked into the restaurant, she didn’t immediately smile at the man waving them over. She tried to read him from across the restaurant, but she was never the type of person to judge someone without speaking to them.
“Hey guys,” She greeted, putting on a smile for her sister even though she didn’t take her eyes off of the boyfriend. Hey, if he was uncomfortable that was all for the better, right?
