Josh was actually looking forward to the date. At the most basic of levels, he enjoyed going out with Harper. Spending time with her in general was always fun, she had a way of making it so, but he also enjoyed taking her out and treating her to nice things. She deserved it, especially after a day like this. Josh was happy that he’d decided to visit the bakery when he had. If he had to pick a side, he would have said that it was the customer’s fault for pushing Harper’s buttons repeatedly. True, the redhead had a formidable temper, but he felt that she always offered plenty of patience to her customers. He knew that she was feeling down for a multitude of reasons, one of which being the mess her shop had been left in. Josh had left the matter alone, not bringing it up and rubbing salt in the wound, unless Harper brought it up, but he’d already decided to help her tomorrow. He’d make arrangements for a new display case -- a better one -- and he would help her clean up. But tonight he was going to help take her mind off of all that and make sure she had a good time.
The other reason he was glad to be going on this date was because he was looking forward to meeting Daveigh -- or remeeting her, rather. He could only feel that he had met her before (how could he not know his girlfriend’s sister?), but he couldn’t remember any interaction that they’d shared before. Regardless of any past meetings, Josh was glad that Daveigh was in town and he was happy to get to know her.
He looked over at her as they made their way down the sidewalk. A smile grew on his lips, despite her pouting face. Actually, because of her face. Josh wrapped his arm around her waist and pulled her closer to him. “No problem, hotcakes.” He gave her a wink before continuing. “She deserved it if you ask me. I’ve never seen you lose your temper with a customer like that.
