the same thing done the same old way
Who: Max and Russel
Where: SOHS lunchroom
When: Lunchtime
Once every week, Russel made sure that he took time away from his friends and other people who usually sat at his table to sit and have lunch with his twin. Yeah, they lived together and there was always dinner at home, but... what was the problem with having dinner at home, again? Russel could not honestly remember, but there was a reason that he and Max always did lunch together one day, it was written on the inside of his locker to remind him and everything. Whatever. A shrug and it was rolling off his shoulders like the unimportant thing it was. All that mattered right at this moment was that he was hungry and he was going to be eating. "Naw man," he said with a shake of his head when one of the football players called him over. "Max-day." That was as much of an answer as he ever thought he needed to give when it came to where he was sitting at lunch time. Usually it was over with the other sports-guys, Russel could have picked them out any day of the week just by the way they carried themselves, but today was for a smaller table over by the window that usually had a few people at it. But the corner as empty and the corner was where he was headed.
Plopping his tray down, Russel was quick to follow, stretching out and using a spare chair to prop his legs up. What? He had to sit "right" when he was in class, he totally deserved to stretch out for lunch! His nose did crinkle a little when he looked at what was displayed in front of him. Cheeseburger that could have done with way more pickles, tater tots that had been left under the heat lamp for a little too long and a scoop of green jelly that he was really hoping tasted like lime and not pineapple. He hated pineapple. Ignoring the food for a moment, Russel twisted open the cap of his protein drink and took a long gulp. When he set it back on the table, he could see Max coming. "Max-man!" Russel crowed, not caring if he interrupted other people's conversations. They should feel blessed that they had him and his brother sitting at their table today. "I'm telling you, I should've let mom pack my lunch this morning because this?" He took a huge bite of his burger, still chewing when he finished his sentence. "This is..." A few chews and a swallow. "Not the worst, but I've had way better." He jerked his head at his twin, leaning up to peer curiously. "What d'you got?" He was not above stealing off his brother's plate. If he could get it before Max then that was fair game.
