Tessa had been lucky over the years, that she hadn't actually been arrested for anything. She always managed to duck out of her bar fights before the cops showed up and Jacen didn't actually have the balls to call the cops on her. He probably should have, because if he did then she would have made sure to do something to deserve it, but it never got to that point. Jacen would have deserved to gone up in flames for how he treated her, but Tessa didn't want to think about that now. Having one Rogers kid being sad and upset was enough, and she was going to do what she could to help Troy.
"Who says that's a bad thing, though? My brother does that. I'm convinced he can't come into a place like this without leaving his credit card at home." True story, right there, but Troy's garden was a thing of beauty. The more Brendan spoke, the more Tessa was convinced that he had to have more in common with her brother than he realized. Not everyone was as open about it, so she wasn't about to out him as an elemental, but still, she thought he probably was. Nothing wrong with that in the slightest.
