it's a birthday party, not an interview
Who: Bess, Keelin, Reggie. Crystal and Sarah (NPCs)
Where: Reggie's apartment
When: Early evening
The sound of a pan crashing to the ground echoed through the apartment, followed closely by a yowl and a man swearing. "I am going to skin you if I catch you trying to eat the food again!" Reggie shouted, tempted to throw the mixing bowl he had held against his stomach at the fleeing cat.
Not that Tiger went all that far. He jumped up to the window, hair sticking up all over his already-massive frame, and began to vigorously groom himself in an attempt to get the dressing out of his fur. 'It's not my fault you had it so close to the edge.'
Reggie snorted and rolled his eyes, resolutely turning his back on his familiar so he could finish making Bess' cake without getting frustrated. It seemed that no matter where he turned today there was someone in his path. Part of that was Tiger wanting to get his paws into every last bit of food - at first he said to make sure it was safe, and then it turned into 'accident's - and the other part was Sarah trying her best to frustrate him so much that he let her leave the apartment. Which was not going to work no matter how angry he got because it was her sister's birthday and she could spend the day with her. Tiger took a break from his grooming to point out that he had not let her leave the house for days before that anyhow. Reggie ignored him and glanced at the clock on the microwave. Good, he was on track and the cake would be done not too long after dinner. If dinner went as planned.
With the way that everything else was going, Reggie would not be surprised if that did not happen. All that he needed now was for Bess to come out of her room declaring that something was wrong and she did not want her party any-
"Let me in!" It was a good-natured shout that was followed by the door being pushed open. "Oh, unlocked. You trusting fellow." A grinning woman only a little shorter than Reggie stepped in, her arms filled with presents and what looked suspiciously like food she had been told not to bring. "Don't just stand there staring at me, Reggie, give me a hand here before I drop something!"
"I definitely remember telling you not to bring food," Reggie said as he moved to take a few tupperware dishes. Yes, that was a taco salad. Once he had set it down on the counter he turned and let himself be hugged, even smiling as he hugged back. "Hi Crystal, good to see you."
"Ditto," his sister replied, already moving to scratch a mewing Tiger behind his ears. "Mom and dad should be here soon. Oh and speaking of people being here." Eyes the exact same shade of green as his sparkled mischievously as she looked at him. "Wheeeeeere is this Keelin I've heard so much about from my nieces?"
Oh I didn't even think about that. Reggie could not have a birthday party for Bess without inviting Keelin, they both would have been upset with him, and he had not given any thought at all to the fact that Keelin was going to be bombarded by his family. "Don't you dare play twenty questions with her, Crystal."
Green eyes went wide. "Would I ever do that to someone?"
"Yes." Reggie pointed accusingly at her. "I know you too well for that look to work on me so don't even try it."
Crystal feigned a pout. "You are just no fun today. I am talking to her, you can't stop me from doing that." Before Reggie could say anything else, the girls appeared and Crystal vanished as they ran up to greet their aunt.
