Don't expect an easy answer
Who: Madeleine and Zaviar + NPC familiars
Where: Zaviar's home
When: After noon
Zaviar was not one accustomed to being ignored or avoided. Rather the opposite in fact, he was used to being sought out, sometimes so often that it irritated him beyond belief. Yet that had not been the case since the last full moon. Darcie was still suffering from ill effects - more mental than physical he had no doubt - and Madeleine was... Being pregnant? Looking for her mother? Zaviar had been certain that he would hear from her the morning he arrived back as he always did, but there had been nothing. Knight had been silent on the topic and Zaviar had simply turned his attention to that spell he had yet to perfect. It had been easy to lose himself there and when he had paid attention again it had been several days. Several days and not one single message from Madeleine. No text, no voicemail, no email, no irritated redhead on his front step. It had been... As close to disconcerting as anything in someone like Zaviar's life could be. So he had made the first move to reach out, at Knight's insistence that he needed to know how Althea was, and the response had not exactly been reassuring. He was used to other people being the ones who came to him to appease him when they thought they had done wrong. He was not at all used to feeling as though perhaps he had done something wrong.
'You know how to feel guilty? Now I've seen everything.'
"I don't feel guilty."
'It certainly seems that way.'
"Well, you are mistaken." And no, Zaviar did not move any faster than he normally would have when he heard a car in the driveway. Knight snickered, tongue lolling out in a dog's laugh as his witch moved to open the door and lean against the frame. His usual stance was to stay seated and wait for Madeleine or Antonin or Darcie or whoever else it might be to come to him. But today... today he wanted to see the redheaded Brit and so he was standing in the doorway waiting for her. It had nothing to do with the ridiculous idea of guilt that Knight had proposed or any other silly little emotions. He would deny to his dying day that he felt a flicker of gladness at seeing that there was nothing visibly wrong with Madeleine. It was, however, followed by a stab of irritation that there was nothing wrong with her that would have kept her away.
'Could have something to do with you taking Darcie on the full moon.'
Zaviar dismissed that remark as being preposterous, which it was. Madeleine could never come with him on the full moon without risking what had happened to Darcie happening to her and neither of them wished for that. Why should it upset her that he bring the former air elemental? "I was about to make lunch if you would like any." Yes, that was Zaviar's way of saying 'hello'.
