The girl was definitely walking her way. Roxy locked her phone and slid it into her back pocket, preparing herself for the conversation that was about to begin. It was rare that she was ever in a mood where she didn’t want to talk to others, but even if she hadn’t been feeling up to it, she would have never been rude enough to use a cellphone as a barrier between herself and others. The girl looked familiar, not in the sense that they had met before (she was almost sure she hadn’t), but in a way that some of her features fit perfectly on the face of someone else. She smiled instantly at the sound of her name. Trent! That was where the familiarity came from. Her expression brightened from general friendliness to something much more jovial and open. “Yeah, that’s me. Nic– ” Roxy didn’t get the chance to finish the rest of her greeting before she was stopped by the whispered question. Of course the answer was yes, but that wasn’t the first thing that came out of her mouth; a loud burst of laughter made it out first. “Do I smell like penguin? Most people don’t guess until they see my wiggle.” Roxy’s response was spoken at full volume to show that she wasn’t worried about anyone hearing. Sure, there were things she would always be apprehensive with sharing, but being a penguin was not one of them.
Roxy may not have been an expert in many things, but she was well-versed in all things were (or at least she thought so). It wasn’t hard to put two and two together: Trent was werewolf (now that hadn’t been as easy to figure out) and a wolf’s powerful sense of smell would account for being able to name her animal on the spot. “Let me guess, you’re a wolf?” Yes, that was her way of properly greeting the other girl. If they were underwater, Roxy would have known Jo’s animal in an instant; on land, however, she was left with nothing but assumptions. She took a step forward, this time using her body language to express that what she was about to say next wasn’t for others to hear. “I’ve always wanted to ask, is it a fish smell? Is that what a penguin scent is like?” Hey! It was a fair question, especially considering that she had never really been in a position to ask before. Aside from Charlene, Roxy didn’t surround herself with many high-sensed predators. “It’s nice to meet you, by the way.” She added the last part in case that hadn’t already been made clear.
