It did not take a very long time for Charlene to get the response she was after. Someone else was here. Charlene had to quash down a feeling of disappointment that it was not Nixie. She had not really been expecting to see her sister here, had she? No, but it had been a hope… a very vague one, but one nonetheless. Instead, as she turned to look at the other mermaid, she saw one that she did indeed recognize. Melia, right? Yeah that was her name and she was obviously the one who lived here.
Stopping, Charlene raised her hand in greeting, hair fanning out around her. Her eyes did widen slightly at the sight of the shells in the other mermaid’s hair, fingers twitching. They were very pretty. “Melia,” she greeted. “I was wondering if you’d seen my sister, Nixie? I thought she might be here.” It was not such a big lake. Charlene did not really think she would be there, but it did not hurt to check and if she did not check then she would not stop wondering, or feeling as though she had not tried hard enough to locate her.
