Found in forbidden nights, sharp as glass and twice as bright
Who: Eileen and Keira
Where: random bar in Scarlet Oak
When: after 10pm
Warnings: Magical curses!
It was commonplace for Keira to take to a bar late at night, even though she had class the next day. It was a later class, so she wasn't worried about shuffling in hungover or late. Really, she'd gotten her routine down to something of a science. She made time for coursework and studying during the day, and then the evening was dedicated to whatever she felt would distract her the most from the sinking feeling that she was not punishing Dominic -- or herself -- as much as she should be. Things between them had been decent for a few days now, and it had everything to do with the fatigue she felt in her very bones at keeping her distance. She'd fight it all she liked, especially in his presence, but she missed him more than she cared to think about. It wasn't as if she could ignore him, now that he knew full well where she lived and a vague grasp on her schedule. Wrinkling her nose as she entered the dark-lit bar she'd adopted for the evening, she made a beeline straight for the bar to order something strong. She was dressed a little bit better than most of the other patrons, and her mouth curved in a smug smile as she unzipped her jacket, shaking out her hair as she waited for her drink. It wasn't as if she was going to dress down just because this bar wasn't as flashy as some of the ones in Ann Arbor. Oh no, Keira wanted to look every inch as polished as she always was.
Normally when Keira went out, she made sure to set up her magical wards, just in case someone tried to touch her when she wasn't prepared with other spells or fast enough to react with the self defense training she'd gotten. She practiced that every few nights in her home gym, but she could never truly rely on her physicality alone -- there were those in town who where stronger and faster just by being supernatural, and she was not about to be caught off guard. It was a good thing, too, because just as the bartender handed over her freshly made drink, a middle-aged man came right up and threw his arm over her shoulders. Keira smiled and took a sip as she felt and listened to the shocked sound of pain as the man pulled his arm off her. That'd teach him to touch people he didn't know, she thought. She was wrong, though, as he shuffled closer and grunted something about magic. He didn't touch her this time, but he was still far too close for her liking. "Back for more, I see," she drawled, eyes narrowing even as she smirked. Taking another sip, Keira briefly weighed her options, trying to choose which course of action was least likely to get her kicked out after only a portion of a drink. "Come any closer and I'll do worse." She didn't have to add any unnecessary tone to her voice. She meant what she said, and she almost smiled as the man slurred something else at her and reached for her. She grabbed his wrist and pulled, stepping to the side out of the way as he lurched drunkenly past her and nearly fell. Well, so maybe that hadn't exactly been "worse" than the painful jolt he'd received in breaking her wards, but it was fun to watch. A few other patrons laughed as well.
Sputtering something even more venomous in his slurred speech, the man turned back on Keira and lunged. Without much thought, Keira murmured a series of words and stepped to the side again, watching as the man stumbled past and barely caught himself on a bar-stool. When he turned back around, it seemed as though he was momentarily unaware that the curse she'd cast had made his nose start bleeding, and bad. The warmth of the liquid on his face finally got through his drunken stupor and Keira watched with satisfaction as he clutched at his face with a shaking hand and fled the scene. Not before dripping a fair amount of blood on the floor, of course, but she didn't happen to care. The bleeding would stop eventually, and he'd just have a really odd bit of soreness the next day in the arm that had gotten the full force of her offensive ward. With a chuckle, Keira threw the rest of her drink back and ordered a fresh one, quite excited for where the rest of the night would lead.
