Brenda had taken to spending a lot of time at the barrier; though she knew she couldn't do anything more useful than fret and worry, she wanted to be close in case there was a change or the authorities managed to break through and get the children out. Hiro was more than a normal child, of course - he had his Fae and elemental powers - but he was still so young, and she was nearly sick with worry constantly. Throwing herself into her work was about the only time she could focus on anything besides his well-being, and the rest was speculation, even as she tried to do nice things for the other families at the barrier - coffee runs, bringing sandwiches, or even just sitting and talking.
She'd always been observant, good at going unnoticed while still tracking everything around her; consequently, it didn't take but a moment before she noticed the commotion a little ways away. Glancing over, she watched one man blow past the police towards the barrier - but it was the other man that really caught her attention. It wasn't that he was actively doing anything (or at least, anything that others might notice), but there was a pained set to his shoulders, a tension in his frame that spoke of agony. And that was what had her moving before she really even realized it, instincts trained from years of immersion in the medical field.
To her surprise, she recognized the figure as she approached. "Orion?" she called as she closed in on him, seeing his eyes wide and staring at nothing - or at least, nothing she could see. The other man must be his brother, Odin - she remembered the unique names. Of course, she could have it backwards, but that was hardly important at the moment. His hand was bleeding; she peered closer and saw the edges of the mirror cutting into his palm. "Orion, let go," she urged, voice pitched low and soothing. She reached out, trying to get him to loosen his grip without hurting him further.
