Furrowing his brow again as he looked at the barrier once more, Orion nodded at the next thing his brother said. "And I would say that these things are at least in some way connected, at least if you merely look at their proximity. All this commotion in one small town is rather indicative of something afoot." Just what that something was still remained to be seen, but that would have to wait until they'd done more research. And maybe, just maybe, Odin would pick up on exactly where Orion was going with his next idea.
A soft smile spread its way across his lips as Orion answered his brother with his twin's favorite line. "I know," he murmured, chuckling softly. A genuine laugh found its way as Odin picked up the train of thought that Orion had prompted, nodding his head enthusiastically once it seemed as though his twin understood him. He knew that smile anywhere and he rolled his eyes at the question posed to him. "What sort of reader would I be if I went without one wherever I went?" Say that five times fast. Reaching into an inner pocket inside the leather jacket he was sporting, Orion fished out the small, palm-sized mirror he kept on him for just such a purpose. "Now, the only question is, can we get you close enough to actually touch the thing?" Orion nodded back at the uniforms strutting around. "They might be hard to get past, unless one of them is injured and they have no medical personnel on site."
Shrugging lightly, Orion looked down at the mirror in his hand began to clear his mind. Though it might have made sense for him to sit down to alleviate some of the strain of focusing by not having to keep his body standing, Orion let that little bit slip from his mind along with any other thoughts. He tilted the mirror so it wasn't reflecting his face at all, and rather was pitched directly above him so it was only showing him the afternoon sky. It was overcast, so it definitely didn't hinder him with many distractions. As every last little thought left his mind, he took a deep breath and thought only of the school. Since he'd never been inside the school, it was harder for him to concentrate and pick a definite destination or focus, but he concentrated anyway. When his mind came in contact psychically with the barrier, he felt it give slightly as he focused, always thinking to read inside the school, to discover what was happening inside. At first, all he could read was a light, passing swiftly back and forth between two places. He tilted the mirror very slightly to get a better read on what he was seeing when it happened.
A metaphysical entity literally grabbed a hold of Orion's being and squeezed in the same moment that the angel's hand locked onto the mirror. The force with which he clenched his hand around the glass forced the edges inside his flesh and a low groan from his lips. His eyes were blown wide, unblinking as he stared into a void made of light. Frozen in place, Orion couldn't look away, but neither could he do much more than grit his teeth, jaw locked and straining as he looked on. Blood began to drip from his outstretched hand, but all he could do was cry aloud wordlessly, fused to the spot and overwhelmed with a pain that ravaged his entire soul.
