Now, in his century of life, Orion had had plenty of different kinds of reactions to his little nuggets of wisdom, but very few people carried on a telepathic conversation with him. He carefully tried to hide the surprise on his face when the woman he'd tried to use his magic on started to argue with him. Well, okay, so maybe he wasn't completely surprised, the link he'd made to her mind indicated she may have been resistant to him when he initially made it. Still, the fact that she was answering back was interesting, and Orion had to hide any reactions on his face so that she wouldn't be alerted to his proximity. He concentrated on what it was she was saying, trying to find exactly the words he wanted to say to answer back. Just the tone of her thoughts was hard enough to get past someone of his proclaimed open-mindedness -- who was he to admit that he knew or had experienced everything when really he hadn't? He had, however, tried to cram as much experience into his one hundred years as possible, though, to feel like he truly earned his powers and title within the angelic hierarchy.
Taking a breath and continuing to make it look as though he were checking his groceries, Orion carefully thought of his response. He held the connection and transmitted his next bit of insight. Women may well be the nurturers, but they have as much right to seek out higher education as do men. If this woman believed that he was this 'Neal' -- he assumed it was her significant other or husband, since she mentioned what he thought must be their children -- then Orion wasn't about to change her mind. It seemed to be her way of dealing with the information, and if that meant she accepted it more readily than she would have otherwise, the angel was all for it. Her stubbornness wasn't completely alien to him, so he trudged along. My only disappointment is that you believe that your worth is measured only by your ability to take care of the home. Women are far more than just homemakers and mothers. You and every other woman can prove to be far more insightful than men, and have an intellectual instinct that rivals many a scholar. The way you see and perceive knowledge is unique and just as valuable as the way men do. It wasn't a stretch by any means to say all of that -- his sisters were living proof of that.
