touch me & i'll bite that hand
Who: Alanna and Toby
Where: Local park
When: Morning
It had been awhile since Alanna had felt comfortable enough to go out for a run and she did not think that anyone really blamed her for it. Except maybe her predator friends, but they were a lot... stronger than her. Braver too. Everyone's braver than me. Her cat was braver than her. Callalily would have been out the door in a flash if she had given her the chance, not cowering in the corner with her chin on her knees, risking failing her first class ever because she was too afraid to go - really good reason notwithstanding - and losing her internship because it was better being there than going outside. Which was silly because... he was dead. He was, but she was not. Aurelia was still out there. A shudder ran down her back and Alanna had to stop, putting her hands against a tree to steady herself and get her cool back before it ran out of control. The last thing in the world that she or Scarlet Oak needed was to have an out of control bitten running through the streets with what was happening over at the high school. Which no, she was deliberately avoiding thinking about. Upsetting things like that only made it harder for her to keep her cool and she needed every bit of help that she could get these days. Hell, she had been thinking about going to church and it had been over a year since she had set foot inside one of those places with any seriousness.
Run. Yes, she needed to finish her run. Pushing herself off the tree, Alanna tightened her ponytail and took off down the familiar trail. The business with the high school was probably what was keeping everyone out of the park today and she found herself glad for that. The chipmunk in her preferred it when there was no one else around and the lack of others kept her from flinching away at the slightest sound. She actually made it through the entire run without jumping more than twice and only had to stop the shivers along her back once, a record since she had started leaving the apartment on her own again since the abduction. It felt good and her muscles had that nice, deep ache by the time her sneakers touched on the path that would take her back to her car and she was actually smiling again. Smiles were rare for Alanna these days, something that her friends had started to remark on, and she wished that they could all see her right now. Or she did until the moment that a wind shift came along. The chill did not bother her, it was the scent that it carried. Human, but not entirely, it was mixed heavily with... wait... rodent? Her nose twitched, the back of her hand swatting it and she tipped her head to the side as she glanced around to try and find the source, up on her toes and posed to bolt for her car in a moment all the same. Because the scent of another were-rodent was stirring up memories of a completely different nature that she did not want to deal with and they were all titled 'Aaron'.
