At least, that was what she very much wanted to do. Ever since she adopted the orange ball of fur, she couldn't get within arm's reach before it started spitting and trying to scratch at her. When she was in the same room with the tiny beast, it hissed and hid under the furniture unless Annabelle or Toby were there to pick it up and start playing with it. Not to mention the fact that the stupid thing had yet to properly learn what the litter box was for or even that he wouldn't stop mewing throughout the night when the kids were asleep. Currently, he was curled beneath an armchair, only his head poking out as his amber eyes unblinkingly stared at Lida. Her own green eyes narrowed as she glared at the cat. It would be so easy, she thought, to launch herself across the room and break the cat's neck. Toby was upstairs napping and Annabelle was catching up on the homework she had left for the last minute, so it would be easy to explain that the kitten -- endearingly dubbed Mister Whiskers by her children -- had slipped out when she went to check on her garden and just ran away.
The doorbell ringing was the only thing that really saved the cat. Lida pushed herself up from the chaise she had been lounging in and hissed down at the cat, baring her fangs. She was met with an angry hiss in return and the cat's head disappeared under the chair. An amused smirk twitched at the corner of her mouth as she walked towards the door, her heels clacking against the hardwood floors. She glanced out of the peephole and recognized the blonde on the other side. Though it was daytime, Lida actually felt like entertaining guests. Had it been anyone else on the other side of the door, Lida would have simply ignored the bell and continued on with her thoughts of butchering the kitten. But she had taken an unlikely liking to Daisy and she decided to let the blonde come in.
"Daisy, what a surprise!" She smiled, her fangs hiding behind her lips. She waved her hand gently to gesture Daisy inside. "Oh nonsense, there's no reason to fret over that. We get along just fine without little gifts. Though I may let you leave with the kitten if you're inclined," she joked... Except there was definitely a sense of seriousness to her words. "What brings you over?" She asked, closing the door gently behind the blonde. "I should tell you that Toby is having his afternoon nap, though he should be waking up soon. Annabelle, though, she could be down any minute for me to check her homework before tomorrow. You haven't met my daughter, have you?" She led Daisy through the foyer and paused just outside of the kitchen. "Would you like something to drink or anything?"
