over the river and through the woods
Who: Daisy and Lida
When: Afternoon
Where: Lida's House
Sundays were always lazy days. Because of a lack of a typical nine-to-five, Monday through Friday job, Daisy never really felt the benefit of a weekend. Even when she worked at a diner, her days off never fell on a Saturday or Sunday. Despite that, the last day of the week always felt like they were made to lie around in ones pajamas. Daisy had spent the better part of the morning in her sleep clothes, which, truth be told, could barely qualify as “clothing”. It was hard for her to care enough to put on anything more than a tank top and underwear when the only people around where Joseph and Bandit. Currently, Daisy was hanging off the edge of the couch, watching T.V. upside down because sitting the usual way had long ago become boring. Her socked feet bounced off the back of the couch as she hummed along to the theme song of the current cartoon she was obsessed with. This particular one was about an adorable wannabe chef named Chowder. She was currently on hour four of a full day marathon and had every intention of remaining there until the late evening. Well, at least until hour five when boredom consumed her entirely. Daisy would have likely been placated for a few hours longer had Joseph agreed to watch the show with her. He was doing something on his own, likely moping because the weather was still wet and miserable outside. She felt sorry for him and wished that she could change the weather to something more agreeable for him.
Since Joseph was dead set on remaining in another room – a locked room, mind you – Daisy decided that she was going out for the night. The first thing she did was prepare an easily heated dinner for when Joseph finally decided to come out in the open; she even left him a note covered in doodled hearts to let him know where she would be and when she would be back. Then it was time to call a cab and change out of her PJs. Where exactly was Daisy headed? To Lida’s house! It had been far too long, at least in her mind, since they had accidentally bumped into one another and she had decided to take matters into her own hands. Though she had only been to the other woman’s house once, she still remembered the way well enough.
Daisy pranced her way up the walk to the front steps of Lida’s large house, which impressed her as much now as it had when she had visited the first time. She busied herself with rocking on her heels, staring up at the second story windows after ringing the doorbell. It was then that the thought struck her that she should have come with some kind of gift. There were treats for Lida’s children and the new kitten, and she couldn’t forget Lida herself! The door slowly opened and Daisy gave her greeter a bright smile and a friendly wave. “I completely forgot to bring you something,” she said before giving a slight pout of disappointment in herself.
