No one could say that Keelin didn't handle stressful situations well. She'd been left at the alter, watched her long-lost sister walk back into her life with a baby on the way, and now this. Being chased by a pack of dinosaurs while a couple of vampires pulled her and Violet around wasn't exactly how she pictured her night going, but still she endured. She held onto Cheyenne's thin wrist and did her best to keep up with the blonde vampire. Keelin was surprised by the strength that Cheyenne seemed to possess a she was pulled along. Her shoes stuck in the moist soil, but she, thankfully, did not stumble or fall and she was sure that was because of her tiny escort. Her appreciation of the sparks that Leland had created was silent; mostly because she was out of breath and this wasn't exactly the time to remark on how she never knew vampires could do magic. Besides, it' snot like she was an expert on what vampires could and could not do.
Keelin's attention was sorely fixed onto the snarls and snaps that were coming from behind her. No matter how fast she ran, the dinosaurs were gaining on her. She knew from her brief childhood desire to be a paleontologist that there was no way that they could outrun the dinosaurs for very long; perhaps if her foster mother had let her dig for fossils more often (strangely enough, the woman wasn't exactly a fan of getting dirt all over her house), she would have learned more about dinosaurs and could have known just how fast these dinosaurs could move, how many teeth were in their mouths, and just how long those lethal looking claws were. She stumbled, her boot sinking into the mud a little deeper than before and she steadied herself by latching onto Cheyenne's arm even harder. She was too frightened to think about what would happen if she were to suddenly let go.
She saw Leland stop at the tree and the moment she reached the trunk, she followed his urge to climb. She jumped until she reached the closest branch, noticing that Violet ascended a little more gracefully than she had. She grunted as her boots scraped against the bark of the tree and she fought to pull herself up while the reptiles swarmed closer. She tried to think of how this tree could have been Reggie, but that did little to soothe her thoughts as she skinned her knees along the trunk. She worked her way up the tree to see where Violet was when she saw the older woman struggling. Keelin used every knot along the tree for leverage until she found a place where she could hold onto and reach out to her fellow teacher. As awkward as it was to move in her dress and heels, she managed to throw one leg over the branch she was holding onto and hoist herself into a sitting position, where she scooted as close as she could to Violet without causing the branch to snap or break under her weight.
"Alright there, Vi?" She asked between deep breaths, her eyes flickering back down to where the vampires stood at the base of the tree. Something told her that they all needed to be higher in the tree; these dinosaurs looked like they were the jumping kind. She stretched out her arm and held her hand out for Violet, ignoring the bugs that were buzzing in her ears. She was surprised she could hear them buzzing over the way her heart was pounding in her ears.
