making a house call
WHO | Quinn & Chase
WHERE | Chase's home
WHEN | Early afternoon
At the first rumble of thunder that morning, Quinn found herself thinking about the last time it had been raining so heavily. That had been the day she transformed. Which was also the day that she had killed Chase and revived him. Bringing him back from the dead was not like scribbling a mistake and then erasing it; it was something very real and something that she could never change about herself. Even though she had not directly taken Chase's life, she had been the reason he was even in her car as well as distracted that night on the road. So as the rain beat against the windows of her apartment, Quinn found that she could not shake her thoughts of that night. She felt the need to go see Chase, to check in on him almost, but there was also something else motivating her. She actually wanted to see him and spend time with him. They'd had lunch a few days before and she had really enjoyed herself; perhaps she had a taste for seeing people socially and now she simply couldn't get it out of her system?
Whatever the reason, Quinn had called a cab (she really needed to look into getting a new car), but had the driver drop her off just before she got to Chase's house. The rain was falling heavily, but still she had the urge to walk the rest of the way. With her rain boots splashing in puddles of water, Quinn was feeling much better than she had been that morning. She wasn't plagued by guilt or dread of the day; now she was on her way to see Chase with a small bag of sandwiches to surprise him. She had thought maybe an indoor picnic could be fun. She was feeling so good that she couldn't suppress the urge to sing to herself as she walked to Chase's door. Singing had never been something she felt the impulse to do nor had she been very good, but now she felt the compulsion almost daily, and especially when she was feeling happy. What was more, she was even starting to like the sound of her voice.
She approached the door to Chase's home, knocking against the door lightly with her knuckles. The thought suddenly occurred to her that she probably ought to have called before just showing up. Would he mind? What if he wasn't even home? She stopped singing and nervously shifted, her bottom lip sliding between her teeth as she slowly started to convince herself that she had made a huge fool of herself.
