I've been locked inside this freight train
Who: Kiley and Cleo
Where: UoM campus
When: Early afternoon
When was the last time Kiley had actually been up to the university? She'd done all of her undergraduate courses here, and had started grad school too, and yet, she hadn't set foot here in months. Longer than that - it could have very well been when Corwin graduated, almost a year and a half before. His graduation present had been that family trip and, well, that trip had changed everything. Even all the things she'd taken for granted while she'd gone to school here seemed different, somehow. The wolf in her caught every smell, every sound as she walked through campus. She'd expected to be overwhelmed, but she wasn't. It was reassuring, in a way, because she did recognize everything that was here.
One of her friends had suggested meeting up here, but now said friend was nowhere in sight, and after a few text messages, Kiley learned she was going to have more than an hour or so on her hands. It wasn't like Kiley didn't know her way around, and perhaps it was time to start looking into enrolling again. She only had another few semesters to finish before getting her master's, after all, a dream that had been put on hold since she'd been turned. It would take some money, and she'd have to see how much she'd need so she could start saving. Unlike her boyfriend, she couldn't just pull that money out of thin air, and she didn't want to be paying off student loans until she was dead. She had enough of those already, thank you very much.
All these thoughts swirled through her mind as she walked past the art building, not really paying attention to where she was going. After all, it wasn't like she didn't know her way around here. She did, however, manage to look up just before bumping into someone else. "Oh, sorry!" she said with a smile, tucking a lock of red hair behind her ear.
