Who: Max and Juliette
When: Lunchtime
Where: Cafeteria
What: High school stuff
It had been a slightly unpleasant surprise to learn that one could not leave campus for lunch or breaks on American campuses, particularly when the cafeteria food was so subpar. Juliette had instead been mostly skipping lunch the last week or so in favor of catching up on the curriculum; schools back home started later than this one, and she was a little behind. Nothing that couldn't be cleared up with a little extra effort, of course, and she'd made significant inroads, which was why today's lunch break would be an actual break. She'd picked over the cafeteria offerings and managed to emerge with a bottle of water and an apple, and had even found a seat at a table. Though her "Bonjour," was pleasant enough, the table emptied of other students, underclassmen who apparently found her to be intimidating even when she was merely reading a book quietly to herself.
Of course, perhaps it was intimidating because it was Molière's Tartuffe, in the original French.
Juliette glanced up briefly when the last student left, brow raised slightly, then shrugged to herself. Pulling out her phone, she sent off a quick email to a friend back home, then replaced it in her bag and returned to her book.
