Keelin chuckled. "I don't know if I can handle much more interesting," she half joked. Honestly, though, what could be more 'interesting' than Kahlan showing up? On second thought, maybe she shouldn't ask. She had a second sister out in the world somewhere, not to mention a biological mother who was in prison. Now would be a good time to mention Kylie's existence to Reggie, but what if mentioning a second sister invited questions about her parents prior to the adoption? That was a whole pool of water that Keelin was not ready to dive into and she didn't think she would ever be ready. So, until she absolutely had to mention the rest of her biological family, Keelin was content to just leave it all at Kahlan. "I'm barely holding onto this," she gestured with her free hand. "I think I might have started cleaning the hallway if you didn't stop by." Yes, it was a joke and an exaggeration, but there was an element to truth to it.
'Okay' seemed to work alright for Keelin, but she still didn't quite feel like herself. There was still a tickling in her mind, asking if she had dusted the tops of the cabinets recently. Fortunately, she was able to quell that annoyance, much like swatting at a fly. She could ignore it until the buzzing became incessant, and so long as she could keep herself calm, the buzzing would stay distant and soft. Especially with Reggie here with his arm around her. Maybe it was because he had been worried about her, or maybe it was just because she had finally vented to someone who would listen who wasn't a puppy, but whatever the reason, Keelin felt as though she could pull away from her stressed state of being. Already, she could feel the tension ebb out of her shoulders. She shifted with Reggie so that they were comfortably against the back of the couch. The motion caused her to realize that other than standing in the hallway when she asked him out for a second date, they had not really spent much time alone together in the apartment building; their dates were really the only time that they weren't around familiars or Reggie's girls. As much as Keelin was falling in love with her life now and the presence of Reggie's daughters, she found that she was rather fond of sitting next to just Reggie.
She grinned when he squeezed her arm. "Maybe it's just one of those things that you can't forget, like riding a bike?" she gave a soft sort of half-laugh as she spoke. She didn't think it was possible for Reggie to have ever been a bad boyfriend, but she figured she was a little biased. Gladly biased at that. Her point was proven when he asked if she was feeling better. Keelin leaned slightly, resting her chin on Reggie's shoulder as she glanced up into his eyes. She gave a short nod. "Yes. Feeling better, but still confused. And a little worried. I almost feel bad that I'm not out with Kahlan to help her look for a job, but things are so... awkward that I don't really want to be alone with her. What kind of person does that make me, that I don't want to be alone with my sister after not seeing her for twenty-five years?"
