Reggie was still nowhere near sure of what was going on. Keelin was sitting down and facing him, so that was probably good, but she admitted that she cleaned when she was stressed and that was probably not near as good. Because so far as Reggie was anywhere near aware, the last thing that had happened was their date. He had not heard about anyone dying and Pugsley seemed to be pretty okay and Keelin looked like she was free of any marks... So instead of saying anything, because he had no idea what to say, he just sat there and continued to wait for whatever Keelin was going to say. And noticed how Pugsley shifted so that he could place one puppy paw on Keelin's knee. Which made Keelin come closer... the earth elemental suspected that had been done very deliberately. Pugsley could give notes to his girls on how to be manipulative.
But when Keelin was done, Reggie was almost sure that it was easier when he had not known. No, that's not true. It was not Keelin's fault. Those things had happened when she was a kid and he doubted that she would have ever wanted to just get separated from her sister. No one would ever want that to happen and Reggie could not imagine what it had to be like. Not to go through that and definitely not to suddenly have said sister appear at the front door years later when they were both grown up. "Wow." Yeah that was pretty much all that Reggie had just then. Wow and... no, it was 'wow'. Reggie shifted a little so that he could reach out and carefully put a hand on Keelin's shoulder. "I'm really sorry that's happening. Is she staying here in town or something?" Simple, easy questions were about all that he could come up with.
