Where do we go from here?
Who: Treat and Tanith (and Eztli)
When: Morning
Where: Treat's house
Once again, it took a while for Tanith to truly wake up. Not because of some strange magic this time, but because she'd slept like a log. She was a light sleeper, but it was entirely possible a hurricane couldn't have roused her that night. Tanith stared at the ceiling for a long time before she remembered that she was in Treat's house. Nope, totally didn't dream that. Or anything, for that matter.
Tanith rolled over, and saw that Eztli had climbed up onto the bed with her. The first time he did that she'd nearly killed him. She didn't really even notice anymore. That was saying something, considering his side. 'How did you sleep?'
Tanith groaned and put her arm over her eyes. "Whatever the hell Treat can do, I want to bottle it."
'Please don't say it like that around him. I think he'd take you at your word.' Tanith fought back a laugh. Apparently sleeping put her in a very good mood. For so long now she'd awake in the morning feeling exhausted and worse, in danger. Last night she had gotten actual rest, and it was threatening to do her a world of good. She couldn't walk around in a good mood. She had a reputation to protect. 'Are you going to stay in bed all day?'
Tanith didn't answer, feeling pretty certain that she could do just that, and happily so. Instead she sighed and got out of bed. Being in Treat's house was extremely weird, but as long as the door was closed and she was alone she could pretend it wasn't all incredibly awkward. She didn't want to face that mess again just yet, but she wanted answers. Answers ranked higher than everything else. So she pulled on her silk black robe and made the bed, once Eztli was kind enough to climb out.
Where's his cousin at? Tanith thought, looking in Eztli's direction. That girl was... well, Tanith wasn't sure what. When Treat had first told her he'd taken in his cousin, Tanith had laughed longer and harder than she had in years. There had been actual tears in her eyes. Beyond that, she hadn't had any one-on-one interaction with the girl, despite the fact that MacKenna had watched her with unchecked curiosity every time they were in the same room. Tanith would have liked to avoid her, if possible. Eztli informed Tanith that he was pretty sure the girl was still asleep, so Tanith ventured out to find Treat.
