Moving day
Who: Brodie and Elaine
Where: Brodie's apartment
When: Afternoon
Today was the day that Elaine had decided she was moving out. Okay, decided and cleared with her new roommate since it was his apartment and his extra room that he was renting out. None of which was the point, the point was that she had decided, she had gotten one of her friends to lend her his truck and she had spent the morning speed-packing whatever she had not tossed into this or that box while doing her best to keep Cow from chewing on table legs or anything else since she had already tossed his toys into the backseat. And while she was doing all of that she had to deal with the fact that last night she had been, as far as she was concerned, rejected by Natalisa. How long had it been since she had been the one turned away instead of the other way around? A pretty long time since with the people she dated she had a thing for feeling them out first, and it was only ever the one a year. Maybe it's only supposed to be one a year, the were reasoned with herself as she finished heaving her dresser up into the truck. Yet another reason being a were was awesome: she did not need anyone's help lifting heavy things. Possibly not a reason it was awesome: if she was right and her species was only really supposed to have the one person a year. Looking at her biological dad would only confirm those suspicions. Except... why had she felt all tingly and butterflies-in-the-stomach around Natalisa? Was it just because she was really that glad to have her back around and she was getting all confused for how she really felt about it?
"Doesn't even matter," Elaine informed Cow as she clipped on his leash and took him to the truck. "She's not even interested." Once her dog had hopped up into the truck he whirled around to lick her face. Elaine smiled and scratched behind his ears before pushing him over so that she could get in. "Bet she'll call me and say that she's in Mt. Pleasant by the rest of the family because they're not deluded and won't be knocking her door down at four in the morning." Natalisa had said she was the guardian for her whole family, it was not like she needed to stay here in Scarlet Oak just for her. Maybe before Elaine had screwed up and kissed her she would stay because of all the times she had gotten hurt when she was a kid, or because Derrick was around and making her nights hell, but now? Now she would probably rather be around everyone else and their kids. Bria had a daughter who was a bit of a spitfire. Well, she would find out the answer soon since she was leaving Cow with Natalisa for the day while she got all of her moving done. And she was wrong, because Natalisa was there. Now, was she doing anything past dropping the dog off? No, she would be surprised if she would have even been able do anything than knock, hand over Cow's leash and the bag with his food, a few toys and feeding dish in it before she fidgeted once and took back off with an excuse about how she needed to go so that she would be done before the sun set. At least that ridiculous voice in the back of her head carrying on about how Natalisa would just leave Scarlet Oak had been silenced by the sight of the angel still in the same house with no sign of boxes.
She played the most cheerful music she could find on the radio for her drive over to the apartments and by the time that she got there she had herself convinced that she was just fine. So, first few boxes in hand, she made her way to the apartment and knocked with her foot since her hands were full. "Alright Brodie, time for your new roommate!"
